About Imoto at Buccan
Imoto (little sister) is Buccan's version of an Izakaya. The Japanese Izakaya's were traditionally down-to-earth gathering places to go get a drink and something to eat after work. Imoto Room is an extension of Buccan's small plate - big flavor concept with Japanese and other Asian influence. The menu offers items ranging from innovative sushi & sashimi to Clay Conley's interpretations of other Asian favorites.

Imoto at Buccan Ratings and Reviews
Our new favorite restaurant! Absolutely fabulous! We were there to celebrate a birthday. We ordered 7 different small plates. The duck tacos, tuna foi grass slider, cauliflower dishes were superb. The desserts were out of this world and service is extraordinary. Very noisy and high priced but worth it!
Imoto has decent sushi. The place has a good vibe and is one of the few places in Palm Beach where there are actually young people hanging out. Courses came out way too fast and there wasn't much time in-between. The noise level is extremely loud and its hard to hear one another's conversations. We'd probably go back, but not soon.
A bit too pricey and ambiance was aided by dim lights. Had lights been turned up it may look like a strip mall restaurant. Service was fine, not particularly good. Food was excellent. Prices were insane. $15 for a California roll is absurd - even stone crab filled.
This was our first time. Superb! The duck tacos, rock shrimp, edamame, Spareribs all perfection. The bread pudding was a perfect dessert. It is very intimate and much better for a conversation. I dine very often at Buccan, so now I can switch off and dine here.
Overall Imoto is good. Maybe we were expecting more based on the hype. Sushi was fresh and tasty but not the most “creative” or “best” which is the reputation. We would have appreciated more guidance with the menu as first timers. Watch out for the kimchi in the fried rice if you don’t love spicey hot. Found ourselves helping the table next to us as they were struggling to find dishes for a non fish eating friend in the group while the sever was standing there. There are non fish options that are tasty. Duck tacos and ribs are just a couple. And don’t miss the edamame. It’s a delicious twist. Much as I wanted to be blown away, I found myself happy with the meal but a little disappointed in the experience. I’ll stick with Buccan.
They must not read the notes when you make a reservation because not once was the note ever acknowledged and it hasn’t been the first time , it also happened to me at Buccan.Very noisy, the Tables are very close together and if you’re only two, then the table is super small especially if you are ordering a lot of food to share. The service and food were overall okay. I was not impressed with their sushi. I’ve had way better .
Had very high expectations for Imoto, but came away with my expectations clearly not met. The cocktail list was very limited and the saketini was undrinkable. Not a balanced martini. The main problem that I had of the restaurant was that it was way too dark. I didn’t have a problem with it being dark but you should remember who you are serving when thinking of your ambiance. Since the restaurant is located in West Palm Beach that has a very older demographic, my entire dinner experience consisted of being blinded by the very older guests sitting next to us using their cell phone light just to eat. It was very rude however there was no manager around to even discuss the situation. It is also a very small restaurant and is very loud with no sound barriers. The service was very generic and not welcoming or engaging. Food was fair at best and there was a very limited menu for sushi rolls. The spicy tuna roll was lacking flavor and seemed like there was filler in the mixture. I have high expectations of sushi bars as Nobu is my go to sushi bar. I thought this restaurant would live up to its name and have heard great things of Buccan but was not satisfied after leaving. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Chef Conley needs to correct the many issues that plague this restaurant.
