The chef Vincenzo Mariani, formerly the executive chef at Monsignore (one of the top restaurant in New York City in the 70’s and 80’s), leaded the kitchen with his international experience and created an original and innovative Italian menu.
In 2009 the owner, decided to write a new page. The restaurant has been transformed into a Trattoria: a warmer and cozier ambiance, one of those that you can easily find in any small town in Italy.
- Common areas deep cleaned daily
- Waitstaff wear masks

Yet another good Italian restaurant within short walking distance of the Metropolitan Opera. Very nice food though. We had just the entree. Wonderful service!
Nice dinner close to MET. Table by window little chilly when door opened for people coming in. Food came out hot. Chicken piccata was not browned enough on one piece. Veal marsala was very good.
Il Violino is an excellent restaurant. We love the place and we eat there often.
Wonderful food, very cozy and welcoming atmosphere. One of my favorite Italian places in the UWS. Perfect place for dinner before a movie or a show at Lincoln Center.
Really Great food and service.
Very good food and friendly service. Great location for after Opera dining. For today’s prices, not a bad deal.
Excellent Authentic Italian food. Very close to Lincoln Center and easy to get in an out in just over an hour if trying to make a show
My girlfriend and I both ordered pasta dishes and were a little let down. The sauces in both of our meals were a bit watery. I like a thicker sauce that will hold to the noodles. My girlfriend's grandmother ordered the chicken picatta and was very happy with it. It was a cute little restaurant, but the food was not great.
Our service was excellent! Food was great!!
Amazing service. Food was fantastic. I hadnt been in years and will definitely go back!
Always enjoy our experience here but this time it was made even more special because of Georgiana who went out of her way to get us the table we had originally requested but was still occupied when we arrived. We sat at another table until the one we wanted was made available which did not take very long. Hats off to her for her diligence in seeing that we were made happy and also for caring for our friend who was with us and had such specific dietary needs. She is a real asset to the restaurant.
It was great. Wonderful food!!!
comfortable outdoor seating with heaters - very considerate staff - delicious food - cheerful holiday decorations - highly recommend
Classic Italian cuisine, attentive service. Veal scallopini, lemon ricotta cheesecake. Very nice meal and warm ambience.
Great food and service, not crowded at 4pm, nice ambiance for a leisurely dining experience
Food anddd service were great.
Heated outdoor dining arecoululd have used more heat.
One of our favorite place to eat near Lincoln Center
It was okay. It was convenient for where we were going after. The host was not very friendly, but the waitress was very good.
My friend and I both had seafood/fresh pasta preparations, both were beautifully prepared with subtle flavors, excellent wine by the glass (we had a Gavi de Gavi), and shared a tiramisu dessert. Service was brisk but attentive and the music and general noise level very tolerable. Have lived in the neighborhood without ever trying this place but it is definitely a keeper.
We always have a great meal here. Braised lamb and a chicken special this time. Service is wonderful !
Daniel greeted us and found the perfect table. Service was excellent from Marco & his assistants. Salmon was prepared perfectly! A lovely dinner outside with all the beautiful holiday lights in view. The perfect neighborhood restaurant!
It’s a very quaint intimate restaurant. The service was exceptional! Food was delicious and plated very well. Highly recommend
Lovely service, comfortable seating even though we arrived late we felt welcomed.
Best ravioli I’ve had in my life.
Outdoor as well as indoor seating available. Nice menu choices and ample wine list
We brought a friend with us for lunch and it was very pleasant. Food is always very good and the service was attentive and it was pretty quiet. A winning formula.
Pre-Lincoln Center performance, and the service was a little slow. The food was excellent, however, so in the future I would allow more time.
Decent food, reasonable prices but crowded and loud
We had a wonderful experience. Our server was attentive and the food was excellent. This is a fantastic neighborhood restaurant.
Heat service and food except waiter forgot to tell us about specials
Luis- fabulous! Scallops and shrimp oreganata- yummy!
We shall return!
I've been going to Il Violino for years. It's always good, always dependable, for quality Italian food.
Love great Italian food! II Violino will not disappoint your taste buds!!!!!!!
The food was good and the staff was very friendly. The service was good and attentive.
We had a nice Thanksgiving dinner. Good food, good value, The place is kind of small and we felt a bit cramped, but not enough to seriously impact the experience.
An extraordinarily cheerful and wonderful experience! The food was delicious and the service impeccable--our waiter actually had a special dish that wasn't on the menu made for my mom! We were also given complimentary glasses of limoncello with our coffees. It couldn't have been a more pleasant time...highly recommend this lovely restaurant!
Outdoors. It was a cold day, so I was the only outdoor diner.
