Dinner: Monday - Sunday: 5:00pm - 10:00pm
Il Tinello has long been one of our NYC favorites. Best in class food, wine and a group of service personnel that are kind and take care of everything.
Food and service was first rate
Excellent experience and great food. Bread was average at best but all other food sampled was outstanding.
Memorable service and comfortable décor made for a great night out. Simply great old school Italian food full of flavor and freshness. We have dined in past years at this restaurant and it was another wonderful experience again this time. Already planning our next reservation.
This was our first meal at Il Tinello, and it alone is worth the 3 hour train ride to NYC. From the moment we were greeted upon arrival, we received superb service from all. The first, and last, person we saw was the friendly attendant at the coat check. The tuxedoed wait staff was uniformly polite and formal, but not stuffy or distant, available but not cloying. The team works incredibly well together, and clearly takes great pride in meeting every need of their customers. The restaurant is exquisite;
very comfortable, with ideal lighting, spacing, and access.
And the food....an imaginative menu, so enticing that decisions were difficult. One may have a personally chosen antipasto. We had clams casino and a tuna tartare admixed with avocado , both of which were superb. Caesar salad mixed perfectly at the tableside was both bold and delicate.
Main courses were salmon with asparagus and white wine ( rare, as ordered), and lobster Fra Diavolo. Each was as beautiful and delicious as one could hope for. And finally- this may be the place to have dessert first. One chooses from a variety of offerings, including fresh fruits, cakes, luscious cream puffs, tiramisu, cannolis..all arranged in a magnificent display by "Mr. Sweet", a most engaging young man who clearly loves his work and does it well. An extensive wine list is available.
The pacing of our meal was perfect. We left having shared a wonderful experience that was unique and for which we were most grateful.
Incredibly delicious food and great service.
Top notch service!
We had a wonderful meal. Spicy Lobster over fettuccini was awesome. The staff are accommodating with any request. We were quite satisfied.
Been there a few times. I love it. Classic Italian food. Service is impeccable. Great place!
Classical food , great service , been many times , will return
Food was outstanding, the wine list is one of a kind and if I could have given the service 6 stars I would have!
Gear little Italian restaurant close to Central Park. Would recommend to everyone.
Always a guaranteed wonderful meal. Excellent ceaser salad. Great service.
Food and service were wonderful. A bit more expensive than we expected.
Waited 45 mins for our table with a reservation but they were gracious and the food was good.
Great service! Food came quickly and was more than I expected.
Food somewhat bland.
Outstanding food and service
Food was good, and the service was exceptional. Ambiance was very Midtown-Central Manhattanish - elegant but older-feeling. Prices were pretty high for Italian food that was good but not outstanding, but I think that was justified by the outstanding service (lots of attention from the staff, and when they accidentally threw out a dish we asked to have wrapped up, they made us a new one on the house. Also complimentary olives and cheese with our wine while we waited for our table).
Birthday dinner! Outstanding menu and service! Anytime we’re in the city together we make it a point to come here! Love it!
Best friend ran the NYC marathon and this was the perfect place to celebrate!!
Table preparation of Caesar salad and dessert means preparation is dependent upon the skill of the server doing it.
At most recent visit the end products differed from that of past visits and was poor. The salad was heavily peppered during preparation when I don’t add pepper ever to what I eat and the big deal prep at dessert ended with a gloppy mess.
Great anniversary dinner, excellent food even better service.
Had dinner at Il Tinello after a few pleasant lunches there. Atmosphere was quite different - restaurant very packed and lively. It had lost some of its refined touch but clearly business was good.
Despite being totally full, service was still attentive although a few corners were cut - cart with the daily specials was not brought to our table.
Food was enjoyable but not exceptional, although my Veal Milanese was superb. All in all this visit reinforced my belief that New York Italian restaurants are in general significantly over-rated vs. the rest of the country. I would not be in a rush to return for dinner, but would dine again for lunch.
This is an excellent choice for amazingly good Italian cuisine. We take clients here frequently and have never been disappointed. My only complaint is that the service can sometimes be rushed which my friends tell me is just the way it is in NYC but that is just wrong. Good food more than offsets the hurried service.
Spectacular! From the moment you walk through the door you are treated like royality. The staff covered every detail, and the food was awesome. Will definitely be returning.
Simply our favorite Italian restaurant in Midtown Manhattan! The food is always authentic and superb and the service is always excellent. It's a relatively small restaurant, so it will get crowded and the noise level can be high, but the food is well worth those slight negatives. There can be long waits if you don't have a reservation.
This was an incredible dining experience. Everything was perfect! We will be back for sure.
Outstanding experience - this might become my new favorite spot!
Excellent food, great personal service, excellent wine at moderate prices. Ideal for dinner for two or four.
Il Tinello is an excellent traditional Italian restaurant. Unlike many NYC restaurants, it is easy to have a quiet conversation and to totally enjoy the food in a more refined atmosphere.
We have been to Il Tinello several times and definitely would return the next time we visit NYC
Always great. Love the tableside preparation of Caesar salad and extra attentive service.
The staff was great. Very attentive. It was our anniversary and they gave us a free drink and recognized our special occasion.
The service was great but the meal fell flat. The veal parm was neither tender not crispy. The pasta special lacked seasoning. There are so many other options in the area, I’d recommend somewhere else.
One of my all time favorite restaurants in midtown. Feels like I’m having dinner at home. Food is awesome
Menu choices, food and service outstanding...Very good for business dinner
Il Tinello is one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever eaten. Everything is fresh from the table side prepared Caesar salad to the pasta sans desserts.
Outstanding Service with very good food. Love this restaurant!
Fabulous Italian food and great service. We enjoyed our time with this excellent restaurant.
AMAZING!!! Must try! Traditional Italian upscale restaurant. Great value as well. Lovely for business dinners as well as special occasions.
Il Tinello is my go to restaurant whenever I have friends or business associates in from out of town. Impeccable service and delicious food. The staff is so nice, accommodating and attentive. Courses are perfectly paced and prepared. Anyone I have ever brought to this restaurant always raves about the dinner. Perfect without being pretentious.
