Outstanding and consistent dining experience. Food is superb. Fish always fresh. Large interesting menu. Willing to modify dishes to meet tastes and dietary needs. The service is always terrific and impeccable. Owner/maitre'd is there and keeps close eye on team, which clearly loves working there because almost never changes. One of very best in NYC and the world. It is our favorite in NYC.
Place was great!!! Food was amazing!!! Service was great!!! We were sorry we couldnt stay there longer due to a play we had to go to... definitely will be back!!!!
Wonderful!! The food and service are top notch! We try to visit every time we visit the city and are never disappointed!!
Fantastic as usual. My go-to for fine Italian dining in the city.
Classic traditional Italian meal with many specials and a chef willing to customize. Phenomenal dinner spot.
Service was excellent. food was delicious, atmosphere was perfect - busy but not noisy.
In NYC for one night and looked up restaurants near our hotel. After reading reviews I booked Il Tinello. Very old school service. Attentive staff, great menu although we never got to the menu because ordered some of the specials of the night-tuna tartare was a light beginning. I had veal Milanese and it was a wonderful portion seasoned to perfection. I didn’t think I wanted dessert but it was impossible to say no when the dessert cart was rolled to us. The tiramisu was dressed with berries, chocolate sauce. Amazing. Our first choice the next time we are in the city.
Great food and service... easy to have a conversation without yelling... very low noise level
Absolutely. I already did. The service was exceptionally good.
Il Tinello is an extraordinary dining experience. The food is outstanding. The service, ambience and the whole experience are wonderful. Fish is always fresh and prepared perfectly. It is a fantastic restaurant. Clearly one of best anywhere in world. And we have been all over world.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Every dish we selected was delicious. The wait staff was extremely attentive. They had recommendations when we asked. They checked to see what order we wanted our dishes to come out in. They gave us space to talk and enjoy our meal. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Impeccable service and outstanding food. Love this restaurant!
Required was a quiet table for business conversation, excellent food, attentive but not intrusive service — and a good wine list.
Mission accomplished on all counts.
A go to restaurant that has not disappointed in 20+ years.
Excellent food and service at affordable prices
Constant quality every time I have there
Favorite restaurant in NYC! Food, service, wine all excellent. Small and cozy. Appropriate for business or pleasure dining experience. Have been many times and will go again soon.
Great meal in NYC, delicious food and good service.
AWESOME evening! Really enjoyed it. Will definitely be back again. I really enjoyed the bar atmosphere. Very intimate.
This has become "our special spot". We celebrated our wedding anniversary here, just the two of us, and it was perfect. The food is beyond delicious, the service is just right, and the ambiance is the ideal combination of intimate and joyful.
Excellent NYC Experience!
Just wasn’t up to it’s usual standard.
Excellent Italian restaurant. Wonderful service. Food is always delicious. Good pacing of the meal.
Provides a quiet elegant ambiance, sophisticated, marvelously old world. Best food and service. Dover sole divine
What a great place, atmosphere and service. Pricey, with tip and a few cocktails plan on about $100 pp. but for a special occasion why not. Food was fabulous and staff engaging and professional. A warm atmosphere also. Highly recommend.
This was a superb experience. From the welcoming host at the entrance, the experienced advise on wine & food by the captain, the deliciously fresh pasta dishes and the kind ‘on the house’ digestif, this restaurant was everything we were expecting based on personal recommendations, Open Table and Google reviews. We will def be back :)
IL Tinello is a hidden gem located on W56 between 5th and 6th. I have been going there for years and they never disappoint. Their food and especially the specials are delicious and the service is old world charm. Every time I take my daughter to NYC she asks to go there. There are a lot of great restaurants in NY but few have the charm, ambience, food and service to keeping bring us back over many years
Wonderful host, great service, good wine. Perfect for a cold winter night.
Not may Italian restaurants serve table side Caesar. Great menu. Great service.
Amazing every time!
Sadly we were unimpressed with the food. Sea Bass tasted “fishy”, and the Veal wasn’t particularly tender.
We enjoyed the ambiance, but overall we were disappointed.
Wonderful meal, service and ambience - and at a noise level that supported conversation! Would definitely go back.
Great service. Friendly, ambiance’s
Convenient , good food choices.
Terrific Italian fare, friendly and welcoming staff and a tempting desert trolley made for a very good experience.
We were greeted by the host and server in the nicest way, gracious and smiling. The service was perfect. We had a few youngsters with us and the server made sure that their food came in a timely manner. Dinner was delicious, the menu variety suited everyone in our party of 8.
And, surprisingly, they allowed me to bring a birthday cake without that ridiculous plating charge.
Highly recommend this restaurant!
Excellent service, fun evening , delicious food , personal attention to detail by wait staff
Overall wonderful dining experience .
Superb, classic Italian food served in a traditional service style, complete with the captain and his team presenting the antipasti and preparing Caesar salads and flaming deserts tableside. Not inexpensive but you walk away feeling that the food and the service were worth it. Avoid if you're uncomfortable with old school fine dining style of service, but enjoy if you're tired of trendier restaurants and just want good old fashioned Italian food.
Overall excellent, but beware of Caesar salad scam. We wanted to share 2 salads, but server said it is per person..$90 later for 5 table side salads that was overdressed and warm lettuce.
We love this restaurant. The food and the service were spectacular! We can’t wait to eat there again!!!
Delicious and resonable New York City restaurant. Delicious italian food. Had homemade rigatoni and the antipasta appetizer that was wonderful. My husband had the salmon and pasta main course and the white bean soup and he also liked it very much. Liked the fact that the tables were seperated so you weren't on top of your neighbor as you are in many New York city restaurants. Very good would recommend highly
There is no way this restaurant should receive a 4.7 especially for the food! The atmosphere and service were outstanding! The food, however, was barely edible and the maitre D was condescending. When I asked which of two specials he would recommend, he offered to bring half of each. I anticipated a con job coming and sure enough I was charged full price for the sea bass and half price for the other entree, clearly not a split. I asked to see the wine by the glass list and the waiter was not forthcoming. Instead, he said they had a cab, an Amarone and. Super Tuscan. Well duh? The sea bass was inedible-extremely fishy and musty, the shrimp had the bad shrimp, iodine taste and the homemade rigatoni side was not as good as something I could have made at home in 15 minutes! The bread was stale. Honestly, I wish I had ordered the spaghetti with red sauce that my grandsons ordered; it might have been better. The waiters were lovely, friendly and very kind to my grandchildren. Overall it was very overrated and extremely disappointing in the food department. I would choose not to return. There are FAR better restaurants in NYC. I must add that upon the second request, they removed the charge for the sea bass, but I didn’t go there to save money; I went for good food.
