Dinner: Monday - Sunday: 5:00pm - 10:00pm
The epitome of fine dinning. Perfect service, excellent food, completely accommodating. Fully versed in gluten free issues. Quiet room despite being full.
I’m here 20 times plus a year great food great service, high end but worth every penny
Food was just not good. Bread was bad. Veal Parmesan was pile of mush. Salmon was bland and the third in our party received wrong order.
Seul bémol est que nous avons dû attendre près de 30 minutes avant d’avoir notre table (que nous avions réservée)
Food was excellent they cater to specific needs
Wait staff very attentive
Wonderful to find such a quiet place in mid-town. Small place - nicely decorated with cushy seats and plenty of room to spread out. Old world traditional Italian food and old world wonderful service. Food was delicious. Same menu for lunch as dinner so a bit pricey for lunch but worth it to be able to hear people speak. Good spot to know about.
This is an excellent restaurant with a wonderful ambience. The staff was attentive and friendly, the food was delicious. The really is a neighborhood jewel with a well-deserved reputation for excellence.
Everything about Il Tinello was fantastic. Our greeting at the door was warm & inviting. We had a group of 7 so were grateful for a more secluded table so we could converse without distraction. Our service was absolutely impeccable & everything we ordered was delicious!! Would return without hesitation!
Food was excellent, service a bit snobbish. We paid our check and upon return to our hotel received a call from Il Tinello stating that the waiter gave us the wrong check and that they were adding another $52 to our bill. I feel that it was not our error and that they should have absorbed the loss. If I knew it was the wrong check I definitely would have brought it to their attention, but we were enjoying our selves and got caught up in the fun not realizing the mistake. Have eaten there before on my trips to New York, but feel I will search out another restaurant.
Fresh well prepared food in a cozy restaurant. The wait staff are attentive without being overbearing.
Always take my clients in this place. Food is superlative and consistent. Very quiet and clients and friends appreciate the ambience. Pasta and salads are excellent. Pricey bit worth every penny
Waiter offered to have the chef cook a dish I requested. Food and service were impeccable. Will dine there again.
My wife and i were in NYC to see the US Open with my son and wife. We all came from GA and FL and decided on I’ll Tinello, which exceed our expectations in every way Service, food, ambience. Since we made the reservation we were very please that everyone was very pleased with our selection.
Terrific, authentic Italian cuisine. Very attentive service with a personal touch. I would certainly recommend it, and return on another visit to NY.
Excellent food and service!! Looking forward to returning!
Our favorite restaurant in the entire U.S. Food and service are the absolute best. The biggest issue is figuring out what to have because everything is so good!
Food was excellent, service was terrific. Nice and quiet to have a pleasant conversation.
Il Tinello is by far my favorite restaurant in NYC! The moment you walk in you are greated by a hostess and/or John. He is an iconic staple to this place. The food and service are beyond impeccable. I give this restaurant my highest compliments.
Friday night dinner before a trip to the cinema, so were among the first guests. The bar allows you to take your drinks to the table without having to pay and tip the barman separately, which is different and was appreciated as I was only there four minutes. We were seated among the other diners, so although the restaurant was not yet full, we were close to a four, where one guest was talking particularly loudly, apparently trying to impress what looked like future parents in-law. Do New Yorkers talk anything other than politics when desperate to sound intelligent?
The decor is slightly old fashioned, but I assumed deliberately so as the tuxedo-clad waiters slid into view, dripping Italian platitudes to the ladies. This seemed to go down pretty well and the service was otherwise efficient and non intrusive.
There were ample specials, so we decided to go for those. My wife had burrata, a regular occurrence, and pronounced it to be very good. I had scallops in cognac, which was actually a creamy sauce interrupted by two handfuls of the smallest scallops I have ever seen. Perfectly well prepared as far as I can tell, but not to my taste.
Main courses were mushroom stuffed ravioli, which was declared delicious, while I had veal escalope, which was the standard mid-range Italian restaurant flavor combinations, but well executed regardless. We skipped dessert, but I had coffee, which was not worth it. Other drinks were a rough Ruffino and prosecco, which was light and fresh.
Overall, my wife pronounced herself very happy with the experience, which was well paced and left us ample time to make the show. I am more ambivalent about the place, but given the choice in the neighborhood, if I am back there pre-cinema again, I will revisit.
Terrific food with outstanding service that is not the least bit intrusive. And you can actually have a quiet conversation with others at the table!
Normally John is front man and he is fabulous after dining here for many years was the first time they did not offer me after dinner sambuca I have spent a lot of money here over the years and was very disappointed
The food was delicious, the service was wonderful, and the wine selection was fantastic. The Maitre D' and the waiter were fabulous. One serious problem is the treatment of their wine. They serve all the wine in cheap bowl shaped glasses and when I asked for them to decant the $300 bottle of wine they poured it into a cheap glass pitcher that should have been used for water. We can appreciate that nice wine glasses properly shaped for the type of wine ordered makes a big difference, and so does the shape of a true decanter. They should splurge for Riedel glasses and decanters, even if they reserve them for patrons ordering fine wine.
Great Italian food. Went with a couple that was celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. We loved it for the food, the ambience and the attentiveness of the staff.
A friend recommended this. I love well-done Italian and this was it. The staff was Italian and they know their product well, with a long list of specials. Elegant, but not ostentatious. This is not an Olive Garden style, trough feeding, restaurant. It has a wonder ambiance with excellent flavors. Very fresh and very good wine list. I heard U2 playing for most of the meal and it was a quiet place for good conversation. I'll keep this one in my phone for future reference.
I can always trust Il Tinello for a great experience! The service is friendly and professional, and the food is excellent. On this visit, we all had the antipasti to start and almost everyone had a fish special (sole meunière or a sea bass). We shared several desserts - creme brûlée, profiteroles, berries, and cheesecake. All were delicious.
This is my go to when I visit NYC. I have been here 3 times in the last month visiting from Florida. Hands down my favorite restaurant. Authentic. I always feel like I’m back in Italy.
A truly great restaurant. Superb food, excellent service.
Table side Ceasar Salad was phenomenal! Service was impeccable and so were our entrees.
Elegant. Quiet. Outstanding food and service. A special evening. Highly recommend.
Impeccable food and service that we cant wait to enjoy again on our next trip into the city.
This is my favorite Italian Restaurant in NYC. Great food, very accommodating with special requests, and always great service! Nice wine list too!
Il Tinello is a favorite NYC restaurant of ours. The service, food and atmosphere are excellent. We leave wishing we had a similar restaurant in DC.
This was the second time I was at Il Tinello. Both times were perfect. Outstanding service and delicious food. I love that the tables are not crammed in (unusual for NYC). The Maitre D was particularly attentive. I brought a very important friend from Washington DC this last time and she has traveled all over the world and she was very, very pleased with my choice in restaurants.
Loved everything about this dining experience. Staff could not have been friendlier. It was my birthday and my husband brought a nice bottle of wine from our wine cellar . I was a little bummed that after what we spent on dinner that they charged a corkage fee - but we will be back.
You won’t be disappointed!
I can’t wait to go back.
Pure perfection : food, friendly attentive staff.
Thank you Il Tinello!
Amazing and authentic food. Staff is very attentive and knowledgeable. Worth the money. Will be back!
This used to my our favorite restaurant; and we will try it again because everyone has an off-night. It was our anniversary so this was our choice for the evening; and we were so disappointed. The service, as usual, is wonderful. The food starting from the tasteless tuna tartare and soggy zucchini flowers (which were specials) to the Veal Chop Milanese (also a special) that was also tasteless and chewy. Hmmm... not a great night there.
A Fine dining experience in a comfortable and pretty restaurant. Really enjoyed the face that the wait staff is extremely attentive without being invasive, that it is a great spot for conversation and the food is very well done--a true Italian gem!
Nick and Jesus made all very special. My clients vowed they’ll take their family in this restaurant. Best Italian cuisine in the city. No doubt!
Il Tinello is an old school Italian restaurant, not many exist of any food type any more, and my wife and I appreciate them, especially this one. We make the point of eating here every time we are in NY>
