Il Terrazzo Carmine
Il Terrazzo Carmine is located in historic Pioneer Square - nestled in an urban-renewed alley with entrances through the vintage lobby on First Avenue or through the delightful courtyard in the back. Since 1984, Carmine Smeraldo's classic Italian restaurant has been where the locals have chosen to return over and over again. From the Carpaccio Di Bue and Spaghettini Dell 'Ortolano for lunch to the Suprema Di Pollo Farcita and Zuppa Di Pesce for dinner you will know you have gone to a place where excellence is a way of life. Arguably the best Italian restaurant in Seattle, Il Terrazzo serves classical Italian cuisine with an atmosphere you may want to call home and never leave

Food was a bit below standards. Sometimes you are unlucky. But the waiter was pushy. It was Tuesday, the table was not going to turn, so I was baffled.
My favorite in all of Seattle and the environs !!
We have never had a bad experience at Il Terrazzo Carmine. The atmosphere is great (I recommend sitting on the “terrazzo”), and the food is world class. I love duck, and they do a “two ways” preparation that is wonderful. Paired with a nice Barbera d’ Alba, and you’re in your Happy Place. We’ll be back!
Definitely not up to the usual high standard that we have come to expect at this restuarant.
My wife and I celebrate our anniversary here when possible and our last visit validates the preference. We notified staff for reason to dine, had a graet balcony table, terrific server (Ryan) and enjoyed favorite dishes - vension raviolis (sp), sweetbreads and as good a New York steak in recent memory - prime, of course. Corkage is higher then elsewhere but they have a wide range of prices and selections. Complimentary dessert with a candle not expected but appreciated. Great parking arrangement next door, 4 hours of comp parking for dinner. Didn't expect the ease of parking on a Seahawks game night but we arrived at adjacent garage 2 minutes before reservation after very busy traffic on I-90 and neighborhood.
The service is always excellent and friendly. The food is always fresh and cooked correctly. I would recommend the restaurant to everyone!
Delicious food with outstanding service! I highly recommend the fresh pasta and seasonal fish.
We love Carmine! Delicious, special, great service and a wonderful overall dinning experience.
Every time we eat at Carmine's, it seems like a special treat! Wonderful food, impeccable service and a relaxed (read: not stuffy) atmosphere -- they all make a dinner out at Carmine's live up to that one word: perfecto!
This is our second birthday dinner for us. Last year and then this year. It’s a delightfully beautiful place, service was great as was the food choices and, of course, the food we actually chose. I wanted to back the next evening but my wife had other ideas. If we’re in Seattle again next birthday we’ll do it again, I’m sure.
I'd recommend this for the warm and welcoming service, the casual elegance, the delicious and perfectly prepared food and a super yummy wine list! It's the perfect place to share out of town guests what comfortable and gracious elegance in Seattle is all about.
Always a fine restaurant, including excellent professional service !
Me and my girlfriend had a very good time at Il Terrazzo Carmine.
The food was very good and not too pricey.
We had a very good Waiter.
thank you for the wonderful evening
The best Italian food we had in Seattle. Being used to NYC Italian I was stunned by the expertise in menu offerings and the outstanding quality of the food!
Terrific Food and Customer Care
We happened to pick a very busy night, but were promptly seated in a very private corner yet still part of the scene. Our server was attentive, professional, and personable. Our Classic Caesar salad and Calamari in garlic, tomatoes, olives and capers were the perfect start. But there was none of their great crusty bread--they ran out. In spite of that we muddle through a very enjoyable meal. My wife's Ravioloni De Pesce--ravioli stuffed with crab, shrimp, and spinach coupled with a wonderful primavera sauce was exquisite. Fortunatley, she let me have a bite. I enjoyed perfectly al dente Rigatoni with a luscious Bolognese sauce. The customer care part enters when we receive our check. Because of the bread fiasco, Carmine bought our salad and calamari. As out-of-towners we don't get here often enough. We will be back to continue exploring the menu.
Venison ravioli was one of the best things I have ever eaten. Service was slow. Will definitely go many times more.
An hour after our appetizers came, we still hadn’t received our main courses. The waitress finally came by and told us she ran out of one of our main courses (why couldn’t she have told us an hour earlier?!) and then said the other three mains would be ready in 4 minutes. We waited another 10, still didn’t receive our dishes, so ended up leaving without eating. (We also had my 2-month old daughter with us, so waiting was extra frustrating). One of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had.
Second time dining here after several years. We recognized it as soon as we walked in. Beautiful restaurant, but not pretentious. Appetizer sampler plate was great. Waitress split our salad and pasta orders.
Amazing dinner on the patio. Our server (Libor?) provided excellent recommendations.
Been there before. Will go again. Consistently outstanding
This is probably my third time at Il Terrazzo have had dinner, this was my second time for lunch. Service is always excellent and the food is delicious. Though my go to always seems to be the spaghettini ortolano which is olive oil based, arugula, tomatoes, pine nuts and goat cheese. The perfect summer pasta dish not to heavy. The meal is consistently perfect from beginning to end starting with the crusty bread.
It's old school Italian perfectly done. White table cloths, more formal but still comfortable and welcoming. Had been about three years since I'd been here last a new building was built behind the fountain in the courtyard gone but they revamped the outside seating. We dined inside but had a nice table near the window.
Dessert is always better shared I say. My friend's mom selected the red velvet cake to share. Hopefully it's not another three years before I return again!
The Servers were all amazing! We lingered for hours after finishing our lunch and they absolutely accommodated us! Food was absolutely delish!
I usually enjoy veal and halibut preparations here. On this occasion it was veal scallopini and it was real veal not pork like some other places. Seasoned wait staff is always excellent.
Enjoyed a fabulous meal al fresco. They have one of the prettiest outdoor patio in Seattle. Service is top notch as always. The Halibut was unbelievably awesome!
It was awesome! My girlfriend and I were celebrating our 6th anniversary and we ended up getting the same waiter as our 1st anniversary we celebrated there. It was a great familiar feeling and the food was great.
Our waiter Mido was an excellent host. The wine, dinner & dessert were all delicious. So grateful this restaurant continues to thrive. Ciao!
My favorite restaurant in Seattle. Excellent food, service and ambience. Very consistent. Always a lovely experience.
the bread was like tree bark, when I asked about the hard crusted bread the wait server did not offer other bread, the rissoto was missing most of the sausage, tasted like a cheesy rice dish, we order the special that took 30 minutes to get, disappointing
My favorite Seattle restaurant. Always a pleasure to dine there.
amazing event out on the patio...food and service unlike anywhere else in the city...
Superb Italian restaurant... my favorite in Seattle. Beautiful ambience with outstanding food and service. I have never had a bad meal there.
Excellent soups and pasta. Cooked perfectly. Halibut good
The veal was amazing and the service is really great as well.
Great service, the Halibut cheeks were excellent
We were greeted with a smile and a very welcoming hostess right away. Our table was very nicely presented and our server was friendly and knowledgeable. I was a bit disappointed not to hear about any specials but was very pleased with my sweetbreads regardless. My wife enjoyed her meal as well and we left very happy and enjoyed our first experience. I've already told a handful of people about Carmine! We live in Snohomish so we don't venture downtown very often. Glad we chose to come here!
This is a proper restaurant..highly trained staff, large and varied menu. Everything executed perfectly.
We sat outside on the Terrazzo and had the most romantic evening. The only worry we had is what to choose to eat, and Carmines took care of the rest.
Excellent food and service. Eggplant parmigiana was the best we ever had. Very pretty restaurant. We don’t live in Seattle, but if we did we’d be back often.
Absolutely fabulous meal!
Everyone majes you feel elcome.
Great wine list
Carmines is my go-to place for friend events as well as business events. I've been coming to Carmines for 25+ years - and always recommend it to out of town guests - I love it! Nick and his crew are amazing. The new patio is amazing - charming, warm, inviting. A must place to dine or lunch in Seattle. And, dress up a little - it's wonderful!
