Il Terrazzo Carmine
Il Terrazzo Carmine is located in historic Pioneer Square - nestled in an urban-renewed alley with entrances through the vintage lobby on First Avenue or through the delightful courtyard in the back. Since 1984, Carmine Smeraldo's classic Italian restaurant has been where the locals have chosen to return over and over again. From the Carpaccio Di Bue and Spaghettini Dell 'Ortolano for lunch to the Suprema Di Pollo Farcita and Zuppa Di Pesce for dinner you will know you have gone to a place where excellence is a way of life. Arguably the best Italian restaurant in Seattle, Il Terrazzo serves classical Italian cuisine with an atmosphere you may want to call home and never leave

Eggplant parmigiana was delicious
There is never a disappointment when dining at Carmines.. a 5 star event in all categories.
Thank you for special attention and extras for our 80th birthday girl!
Always positively amazing. The space is lovely and the service is perfect.
Fantastic atmosphere and delicious food
This was just my 2nd visit, the first for lunch. As we were being seated I asked our guide if we could have the same table as we did for dinner, Table #23. It was available, and he assured us that will be our table from now on. Now that's class, and that's service. The food was unbelievably good ( as it was on our first visit) and the atmosphere was perfect.
It was our first time trying this restaurant. We were dining before a concert down the street as were many so I assume that’s why the noise level may have been louder than normal. The look of the restaurant is beautiful - I absolutely loved it!! The service was fabulous as well!! Our waiter was very professional, very personable and she was very attentive. The only thing that was not as expected was the food. I had the fish of the day - the halibut - and it seemed to be lacking in flavor. My husband had the Osso Buco - one of his favorite meals - and he thought it was just ok.
We will try the restaurant again sometime on a less busy evening to give it another chance.
We attended a 7:30 PM event nearby so made reservations for right when the restaurant opened at 5 PM. They seated us fairly promptly but that was the last thing to go well. Our waiter was surly, did not review the daily specials for us as we heard another waiter do later for a table next to us, and then asked for drink orders without giving us a cocktail menu or wine list, which we had to ask for twice. It took over an hour for our salads & appetizers to appear, and by 6:45 we had to signal a manager and complain that we were still awaiting our entrees. We had previously asked the waiter for an explanation and that we had a 7:30 event, but never received an answer. We were eventually served by 7 and the manager graciously offered to comp dessert for the table, but by now we had to rush to finish our food and what was supposed to be a special occasion dinner was a complete failure. I had many meals at Il Terrazzo back when Carmine ran the store, and it was always a wonderful evening. Sadly, those days are long gone.
Have been going to Il Terrazzo for years. Execution at all levels never ceases to impress. Food and service is always great. I personally prefer the bar over the dining room. You can’t go wrong going to Il Terrazzo.
Date night, the night before The Rolling Stones concert! The wine connoisseur was right on with a wonderful bottle of red wine from Italy! Took us back to our trip to Italy with the authentic food and amazing wine! Thanks you
It was a great experience, other than the large group that was screaming and yelling during our meal, that was disappointing that they were not asked to keep it down. Multiple tables were noticing and discussing it.
This was supposed to be a nice celebration of my husband's birthday but the entire experience was quite unpleasant and uncomfortable. Had we known how noisy the restaurant is, we would have requested a table outdoors. The restaurant was so noisy we could not even hear the people at our table of six.
My halibut was good but the veal scallopini that my husband ordered was not as good as we've had at much less expensive restaurants. Good wine list but very pricey.
It was my wife’s birthday. Everything was great - meal, service, and the ambience.
We went on a Monday night. It was less crowded therefore quieter than usual. This made it very pleasant for the four of us. Everything was perfect. Both the service and food was amazing. Even their car valet went out of his way to be helpful.
I love this restaurant. The server was very helpful, customer oriented, knowledgeable and attentive but not hovering. The food is always delicious and as I was meeting a friend that I had not seen in a year, it was a great and wonderful place to meet, eat and welcome her to Seattle! Il Terrazzo Carmine is great for any occasion and it shows off the great hospitality environment in the Emerald City. A delightful night.
I was really excited to go to Carmine’s for a special dinner. Food was ok ( steak was over cooked, desert was good, other food was just ok).
Service was disappointing. Server in attentive, needed to flag down server for wine glasses, change in cutlery, etc. She wasn’t engaged with our group at all.
It will be along time till we come back again, too may other Italian options in seattle that are better food, ambience and service.
Service was efficient but curt. Food was overall very good. Recommend for good Italian fare and will hope for better server next visit.
Food was ok. Service was terrible, after sitting down we were greeted 20 minutes later. Waiter did not come by to check on us. Brought us the wrong bill and did not even ask if we wanted dessert.
My favorite Seattle restaurant.
Beautiful, delicious and excellent service
We ate outside and enjoyed a perfect night
A hidden gem
Wonderful 10th Anniversary Dinner.
Il Terrazzo Carmine is a lovely Italian restaurant in Pioneer Square that we stumbled upon approximately 10 years ago when visiting Seattle on vacation. We've since been a couple of times and decided to book it for our anniversary as we now live in Washington. Upon arrival the hostess welcomed us and acknowledged that we were there for our anniversary. Although they have a beautiful patio area for summer dining we opted to sit inside and had a nice window table. Our waiter, Joe, was wonderful (knowledgeable, helpful attentive and personable). We started with a glass of Proseco and shared a caprese salad then went on to enjoy entrees - duck with a wonderful "not-too-sweet" cherry sauce for my husband and stuffed chicken with sage sauce for myself. My husband loved his entrée and I'd rate mine a 7 out of 10. At the end of dinner Joe brought us a complimentary tiramisu to share - very light and not too much alcohol. A perfect way to end the meal. Definitely would recommend Il Terrazzo Carmine.
Superior service and amazing food -
The food was very good. On a nice evening I would recommend sitting out on the veranda. Our server, who curiously did not give us his name did an outstanding job and really providing Ed an exceptional customer experience. I would highly recommend Terazzo Carmine when I. A Seattle.
Wonderful dining experience with all the essentials: an interesting menu with traditional favorites and creative options, excellent and unobtrusive service, willingness to make your experience special, quiet elegance without pretense, and an outdoor space for when the weather is lovely. Every detail of every course is always perfect. And the desserts are amazing. We enjoyed the veal picatta and the halibut market special fresh fish and shared. The creme brûlée and the cannoli were also amazing. Satisfied diners in every respect
Seems like ITC is back on our eating radar, and we're loving it! The Best Creme Brulee! Love the beautiful outside area with the stunning chandeliers. Alayne Sulkin
We used to visit once or twice a year. Upping that to quarterly because it is so good!
A gret experience every time! Ask to be seated in John's section - you'll be happy.
20 year veteran server Cathy was gracious and attentive!
Amazing!! From start to finish
Good food and good service! Nice setting and ambience.
There was grit in the clams in my pasta sauce. My husband’s broccoli was overcooked. Not acceptable at the price paid
The food and wine are always amazing. Great way to celebrate a birthday.
This restaurant is perfection. From the greeting to the impeccable restaurant and the spectacular deck to the fabulous food, nothing can surpass it. I love Il Terrazzo and have brought man6 people here who feel exactly the same
My husband and I had a wonderful romantic dinner a couple of weeks ago late Friday evening. We sat outside on their terrace and the ambiance was perfect. Our food was sooooo delicious! My husband had wine and I had 2 different signature rum drinks and we were very pleased. We usually skip out or take dessert to go but we decided to have dessert there and the key lime was on point! We will definitely be back!
Excellent service and food was absolutely delicious! It was a special dinner to enjoy on our family vacation. Would definitely recommend.
Always great place. Wonderful food and service. Our favorite restaurant in Seattle.
A wonderful evening! Thank you. Always excellent.
We hadn't been to Il Terrazzo in many years, what a delight it was to return. Top notch food, ambiance and service. Becoming more and more of a rarity! The only less than stellar dish was the antipasti appetizer. For the price it was rather skimpy and it included no cheese. It won't be long before we return again!
Food was delicious and service was great. We will be back
