Perfect For:
  • Special Occasion
  • Good for Anniversaries
  • Good for a Date
Il Terrazzo Carmine, owned and operated by Carmine Smeraldo, is one of Seattle's true dining anomalies - a highly successful restaurant with unfailingly high standards and a loyal, sophisticated clientele. The cuisine has been acclaimed as Seattle's best by the media and more importantly, by local diners.
Il Terrazzo Carmine is located in historic Pioneer Square - nestled in an urban-renewed alley with entrances through the vintage lobby on First Avenue or through the delightful courtyard in the back. Since 1984, Carmine Smeraldo's classic Italian restaurant has been where the locals have chosen to return over and over again. From the Carpaccio Di Bue and Spaghettini Dell 'Ortolano for lunch to the Suprema Di Pollo Farcita and Zuppa Di Pesce for dinner you will know you have gone to a place where excellence is a way of life. Arguably the best Italian restaurant in Seattle, Il Terrazzo serves classical Italian cuisine with an atmosphere you may want to call home and never leave

Everything about this experience was excellent. Caesar salad was tasty. Antipasto was amazing. Grilled eggplant, ossobucco to die for etc. Come here, you'll love it.

Well balanced flavors overall, and perfectly cooked halibut. Best meal we have enjoyed in Seattle

Party of four - 50% success
The ravioli stuffed with several types of seafood had more spinach than seafood.
The tenderloin did not have much flavor :-(
The other two guests enjoyed their dishes.
Service was incredible!
The bar associated with the restaurant is brilliant - creative drinks and friendly staff.

Dinner fir four. Had great wine list food was excellent. Two had their special halibut, one had venison ravioli, I had vile cscalopinni. Every meal was wonderful..one person did not like the shrimp bisque. My mozzarella was great. Good wine list would have liked it more if the restaurant was a bit quieter. Overall a great experience with great food and great service.

Once again the food was a ten. The four seasons of Italian eateries in Seattle.

Excellent food including the daily specials which are superb. The staff is very friendly and could adjust the size - for example, a salad - as requested. The coffee was also very good. When we arrived, the greeting was friendly and we were seated in a very comfortable, quiet, and private area of the restaurant. We will return regularly.

Parking was a challenge and there was quite a bit of road construction that made reaching the restaurant a hassle. Fortunately, once we arrived, it was an excellent time.

I have eaten both lunches and dinners at ITC since about 1990. Obviously I return because it is a great restaurant. So, I was extremely disappointed on my last dinner visit to encounter a child under the age of two years with his mother seated within 6 feet of my table. This is a fine dining ADULT restaurant. Children should not only be strongly discouraged, they should not be allowed. This was at 7:00 PM in the evening, also bedtime for a toddler. You can image he did not behave as an adult. Please don't be kid/family friendly.

Otherwise my dining experience was at the very high level I have always experienced at ITC and expect.

Absolute perfection. From the minute we entered to when we finished the meal, the service was top class. We were a group of 5. Our waiter was very polite in explaining all the dishes that we considered, made good suggestions on the drinks and desserts. The service was very good , nothing was rushed or too slow, everything was running on time. We didn't get to say thanks to our waiter before we left, but he actually met us after we exit the building to thank us for choosing to dine with them, which was quite sweet.

We received a warm reception from the staff upon arriving at our dinner time. The service was excellent, food was delicious and ambience lovely. We enjoyed celebrating our daughter and son-in-laws anniversary and restaurant met our needs perfectly. Having our parking validated is especially nice when dining in Seattle where parking can be expensive. We enjoyed a glass of wine at The Browne Family tasting room right next door before dinner. Very pleased and we will return again soon.

Surprised to see the service slipping, our friend ordering a beer that didn’t arrive until we reminded the waiter and then it didn’t come out until after the food was on the table. Ordered Pesto pasta with Shrimp. Having had the same dish at their sister restaurant in Bellevue, unfortunately it wasn’t the same. Perhaps it had sat too long in the kitchen. Wasn’t as warm as it should be and had started to turn gummy. Also special order of no starch replace with veggies on my companion’s plate was ignored and even though the waiter saw him scraping it off of his plate, no apologies were made. Unfortunate.

Years ago, I'd come to Carmine's with a friend, J.D., and now I've rediscovered it since I moved to Seattle. Never, ever -- not once -- has it ever been less than a pleasurable and palate-pleasing experience. From the appetizers to the desserts, Carmine's always delivers -- in a warm atmosphere with engaging bon ami servers. Can't wait to go back with family and friends!

We've eaten at Il Terrazzo before and had a great experience. This time, however, was not as great. The service was not to the standards we expected and the food was ok. A couple wine orders forgotten, not attending to everyone at the table with pepper, the billing was confusing...a couple guests asked to separate the bill, which was supposed to be attended to after the meal, but instead was separated incorrectly without asking the guests at the table.
The guests in my party were disappointed. It could've been an "off" night, but it was noticed.

As always, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Il Terrazzo Carmine. In particular, both of the fresh fish offerings were outstanding. Our service on this particular night, however, was found be lacking in both efficiency and quality. This has never occurred before at Il Terrazzo, so our two couple foursome mostly took it in stride and enjoyed all there was to enjoy this evening. Everything was above the bar from or starters, cocktails, dinner and finishing w/dessert.
