Il Radicchio Ratings and Reviews
We hadn't been here in years, my memory was that it was just ok but what a pleasant surprise! the service was outstanding to begin with. It's such a cute, cozy place and the food was very good. I had a caprese salad and the eggplant parmigiana. The wine selection, although not extensive, was very good. And we split the tiramisu - delish! the only thing I would skip is the bread. Not worth the calories, pretty tasteless. But all in all, a really great place and we'll definitely return!
Food was excellent as was service! Entrees were reasonably priced and incredibly tasty. 4 people, split a moderately priced bottle of wine, yet we were surprised by our tab so will definitely go back but share more next time. Portions were large enough for leftovers to take home.
I have lived near this restaurant for many years and finally tried it. I got penne with chicken, spinach and tomato; my brother ordered the four cheese ravioli. Both dishes were very good. We liked the sauces. The wine was reasonably priced. I ordered a sundae-like dessert (I don't remember exactly what it was called) and it was ok. I would probably not order dessert next time I go, but I would definitely go back for the pasta. I'd like to try the pizza as well.
Early dinner on a Sunday night. Quiet but still cheery. Excellent food. Salmon on radicchio salad fantastic. Pastas great. Pizza aok but other dishes better. Very friendly staff - attentive but not intrusive. Parking lot and easy street parking. Will go back.
We shared a chicken penne pasta and a pizza and they were very plain, bland and generic. You could go to a fast food italian place and save some money. The salad was good, the wine was bad, the lemon custard tart was good, but I suspect not made there. I might try take out sometime if I get an italian craving. There isn't much over here.
This is the kind of great but unpretentious Italian food you can find in NYC or Philadelphia but far too rarely in the DC area. Fresh ingredients prepared well. Wine list is not extensive, but well matched with the dishes. Friendly service in a cosy setting.
Il Radicchio is a wonderful local trattoria in a cozy house-like structure. The meatball appetizer is a wonderful find and the rotisserie chicken is very well done. The star of the menu, though, is the unlimited pasta with delicious homemade sauces -- the rosa and sausage and leek are both outstanding. Coupled with a simple, yet efficient wine lists (the house reds for $30 a full carafe are the way to go) and you have a wonderful, reasonably priced date night.
Finally, my boyfriend and I have discovered fantastic Italian food in Arlington! We came here for his birthday and the staff really made it special for him. The food was absolutely delicious - we got bruschetta, pasta, salads, and the prosciutto wrapped scallops of course. The only thing we were even *slightly* disappointed with were the scallops, because you only receive 2. However they were very large! For the first time ever at a restaurant, so much seafood was included in the linguine di mare that I couldn't finish all the pasta. And in love pasta!!
Overall 10/10 for Arlington, maybe 9/10 for all-time Italian food (we're from Philly). We will definitely be back and highly recommend it.
My wife and I spent time at I’ll Radicchio 15 yrs ago around the time of our wedding. To celebrate our anniversary we traveled from Alexandria to I’ll Radicchio. I ordered the Pomodoro sauce and spaghetti and my wife ordered the seafood dish with light butter garlic sauce. Sadly both dishes were very disappointing. However the service was good and the people were pleasant in the complementary desert was the best part of the experience.
We have been in neighborhood for over 25 years and are delighted to have this restaurant revitalized and thriving under new management. We love bringing friends for a casual dinner in which we share a salad, family style spaghetti bowl and our individual choices of sauce. The bolognese is very traditional and flavorful but exploring options like the puttenisco is also really interesting. The desserts are absolutely decadent. Kudos to the owner/manager and very diverse and friendly staff for this neighborhood gem. We were there on a Sat at 6pm and the place was packed inside and out. Nothing fancy, just good food and service. Making a reservation seems like a good idea these days.
This has been our family’s gathering place for “carb loading” in advance of the Army 10 Miler Race for the past 9 years my son and I have ran the race. Many happy memories and seemingly familiar faces each year. Though from 5 hours away from Arlington we always find our way there!
There were several families represented in our group. Some folks had dietary issues, more than a few had hearing issues. The restaurant was charmingly authentic and the food was great. Everyone found something to suit their needs and we were able (as the weeknight evening got a bit later) to hear each other very well. We appreciated the kind service we received.
