Food was terrific! Our server was very knowledgeable with the wine list. He was very attentive and took care of us throughout the night. Great first experience!
Top notch restaurant. My favorite place in the GTA.
So I want to lead by saying that it was a CRAZY weekend in unionville so this is most likely not the norm. First I had a reservation and thank goodness with the event going on in the town. I get there and she asks table or bar, I have a ton of stuff with me and say table (so i can have one more chair to rest stuff on as there is no space the bar. She says "bar would be better" so she takes me to the bar even tho there are plenty of two person tables open. Then it takes a while for me to get my menu. I order almost as fast as i can get someones attention (which wasn't easy). The my meal shows up, but not my appy. The bartender follows up with the server and he is told that the kitchen is behind on starters, but then my appy comes out and is BURNT. So they weren't behind, they forgot and tried to make up by cooking it faster and hotter. I then was waiting on utensils as i was not provided any. So my food is going cold as I have no way to eat it. Finally when i as for my bill i get it almost right away but then he forgets i haven't paid and skips skipping over me for another 20 minutes. And the last drink that I ordered didn't actually come till after i paid my bill, given it had been ordered at the same time i asked for my bill but it was about 20+ min process of asking for it, getting it and paying it. Over all i know they were packed with 900 people in town more than normal, the food was good but almost everything that could go wrong did. I would like to say they were really nice when they called me to confirm my reservation and warn me about limited parking/the event going on (which i was a part of). So, I still recommend, just make sure to have a reservation!
My wife and I enjoyed dinner while visiting for the Gilmore Girls Fan Fest which meant it was quite busy but that did not diminish the experience. We arrived earlier than our reservation and were seated immediately. Our starter was the burrata special, this is one of our must-haves on any menu and it did not disappoint, rich, creamy and just the right amount of seasoning. For entrees we each had pasta, I had the gnocchi in Gorgonzola sauce with mushrooms and almost licked the bowl. My wife had the linguini with prawns and I almost stole it from her. It had the most incredible sauce of olive oil with garlic and tomatoes. Sounds so simple but they managed to perfect it. Our service throughout was on point and we never went without attention from the waiter or the hostess.
Absolutely delicious! Love having a quality Italian restaurant like this one markham. The pasta was perfectly al Dente. The tomatoes on the bruschetta were perfectly ripe. Can’t wait to visit again very very soon!
I have to say I was REALLY impressed by our dining experience at Il Postino. From the hostess to the service, cocktails and food, all were amazing. Thank you for a memorable evening!
They need to reduce the size of their salads, enough for at least two, a little pricey, need to have a reasonably pRiced house wine but overall a nice place. We had an appetizer two salads and two fish appetizers along with two glasses of wine and it was over $160. However the food was to die for
The food was absolutely amazing and service was great. The best Italian food I have had in the GTA! Will definitely come back.
Service was terrible. Not sure if they were short staffed but the waitress was terrible. Forgot parts of order was taking food we were still eating off the table and rushing the entire meal. The food itself was very salty this evening. We had the special clams pasta and we didn’t finish it because it was way to salty.
My lunch was amazing. Loved it, great service very friendly, beautiful atmosphere, everthing was great
Great food, fantastic service and great ambiance. Highly recommend
Food & service were great but there was a table with 2 men who were very loud! Not the restaurant's fault!
Beef Carpaccio is heavenly!! Bravo!
Been to this restaurant many times. Went with friends for their first time. Food is fantastic but the service and staff are so much better. They were attentive and caring over each course. Couldn't have been more satisfied.
It was Friday night and my daughter-in-law’s birthday dinner... her first time at this restaurant. Table was great, Food was delish and waitress was wonderful and attentive. Didn’t give 5 stars because 3 of 6 on our table intended to order pasta w. Beef tenderloin special, but it sold out by our 7:30pm order time. Super disappointed that they under-estimated to such a degree. This is the 2nd time their special sold out as we placed our order, so I would suggest to have more faith in their specials please. Also, our Linguini with Shrimp, although tasty, was a little skimpy on shrimp compared to past visits. Thank you for an enjoyable time anyways.
It was great. Went with a friend and his pregnant wife, staff was very accommodating and food quality was excellent.
Sweet little spot with outdoor dining, very pleasant. Seemed a bit understaffed and service was lacking. Menu is small, pasta plates hover in the high $20 range. If you want pasta and a salad, plan on spending $12 plus on the salad.
Wonderful dinner with the family
Food was delicious and well prepared. Great service . Staff were very friendly.
I was in Toronto for the week, staying in the Markham area. Not being in the downtown core, we had struggled to find good local dinner spots. We stumbled on Main Street in Unionville and it was worth the wait. But, the jackpot doubled when we he landed at Il Postino. Each of our four dishes was spectacular, from the gnocchi to the mushroom fettuccini to the carbonara. Everything was excellent. The service was off the charts.
Evidently, they felt it took a little too long to get us our main dishes. So, completely unsolicited they comped us desserts. The wine and coffee were icing on the cake. I can't wait for our next trip to Toronto!
I found the restaurant incredibly dated. The noise level was terribly high, with the layout and acoustics, very difficult with having conversations, we were yelling. The food was good but the atmosphere was much below my expectations.
We celebrated a 50th Anniversary. We sat upstairs in their private dining area. The food superb and very nicely presented. Service very professional and friendly and the desserts are also great.
The decor was very disappointing. There were large gouge marks in the wall in the dining area. One of the pictures on the wall was hanging uneven. There was no table cloth. The food was good and the server was excellent! However the experience was adversely impacted by the condition of the dining room.
Went there for lunch with family members. The food was delicious - although it took a bit longer (they were very busy!) We had to start, the Calamari and Charcuterie board, and for mains the Rigatoni, Salami Pizza, Salmon and special pasta with chicken and gorgonzola. Food was very good and their pastas are all freshly made.
There were great choices for all of us, and they were very willing to accommodate my wife's food sensitivities. The courses were perfectly spaced, and the waiters were ever present to refill water or answer questions, but didn't hover. It was a bit over priced, but you can tell the quality is definitely there.
Very terrible experience and extremely bad service. Don’t go there and we will never go back. We were seated early around 6:30pm on a Saturday evening. We ordered the seafood platter but they ran out of scallops so early that night with no substitute. We asked for more bread, but it never came although the waitress promised to bring more. The food was barely acceptable but the service of our waitress was totally absurd. She is very snobbish and gave us a nasty face throughout the dinner. She ruined the atmosphere of our dinner. A totally unacceptable service!!!!
I went back for the third time in the last 2 months and I hope to go back soon. The restaurant has spectacular service, fantastic food with a lot of variety. The food never disappoints. Highly recommend!
I visited this restaurant recently with 5 other colleagues for a business dinner.
In a word - amazing.
Service was prompt and efficient. Our server was extremely attentive and helped us navigate the menu with ease. He was extremely knowledgeable - being able to talk speak to the intricacies of each dish well. The food was superb and the ambiance was so fitting. Will definitely be returning.
Never been disappointed there. Good quality food and great taste.
Food was amazing!!
Waitress was very friendly.
Would highly recommend this for authentic good food!
It was a beautiful evening and we were able to get a table on the patio. Service was a little disappointing because our first waiter, seemed to be rushing us to take our order once we sat down. We placed our drink and food order but our food arrived before our drinks. When we did finally get our drinks they were the wrong ones. However our second waitress was able to rectify the order and was very kind to provide one of the drinks complimentary. As for the food., the lamb was good done to a proper medium as requested, but the pepper steak ordered medium rare was over cooked. The steak had a very mild non existent pepper sauce, with mushroom, in fact I asked the waitress if this was the pepper steak because I couldn’t taste the pepper. In addition, no accompaniments came with the steak just a piece of meat on a plate. We ordered the cheesecake to share, which was good but nothing really special. It had been quite some time since our last visit at this restaurant and weI remembered it was quite good. So we were very disappointed with this visit. We commend our waitress who did her best to try and make up for our disappointment, but it’s very unlikely we would return.
Really disappointed in today’s meal. We have been to Il Postino many times before. The food today lacked flavour and was very bland. The service was courteous, but by no means friendly. Usually we are able to switch out pastas, for example switch a rotini for a gnocchi. Not today. The waitress said they only do substitutions for allergies. How hard is it to switch a pasta?. The beef carpaccio was so so. The calamari was chewy and the pastas tasteless. We had to ask for salt and some chilli sauce to make it good enough to eat. Also, there was no warm garlic bread given to us this time. We asked for bread and were given cold and hard bread. We paid $180 for dinner for 4 with one glass of wine. So very disappointed. We will not go back. Not sure If there’s a new chef or the restaurant is under new management, but whatever the case, we won’t go back.
Great service and food except they missed the note we were celebrating a 50th bday!!
Our server basically ignored us for the whole meal. She stopped by to drop off the menu and off she went..we waited a long time to order our food. At the end she brought out the dessert menu and once again she disappeared for like 15 min. We had to ask the other server to get her to come back.
Food was great but service was terrible.
Poor service, overrated food.
You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I've never had an average meal; they're all excellent.
It was our fist time there. We really enjoyed seating outside. Both the service and food were awesome. Thank you.
Great service, food was good but seafood platter seemed expensive given what was served.
Great food, great people, great atmosphere.. We enjoyed every minute..
We was a group of four, one child 12 years old and three adults.Ordered see food grill plate ,grill chicken and grill lamb.Overall is got good service and delicious Italian meals.
Great food, location and service. A little pricey but worth it!
