Good quality yet quantity is lacking, especially the 30 dollar plate I tried. Excellent flavor but honestly should be priced to 20-25 dollar range at most for the amount of food received.
Food was amazing and the service was great and friendly.
By far, the best Italian restaurant in Old Town Alexandria!
What a fabulous place with a charming atmosphere! We were seated at a window table and had a "window on the world!" The lamb chops were absolutely sensational, as was the bread--real Italian, crusty! You can't go wrong by dining here!
We always have the issue of accommodating my daughter, who needs both vegetarian and gluten free entrees. This place has made that infinitely easier, and nobody feels like they are making a sacrifice with a family gathering. It's a hit with my 87 year old mom, as well as my teenagers, and all the extended family members in between!
Calamari was excellent. Seafood pasta special as well. Scallops cooked exceptionally well. Did not have dessert but menu was looking amazing.
My sisters 18th bday
I LOVE this restaurant. The ambience is great for all occasions. The food is always delicious whether it be the every day items or the specials. The prices are great for such a quality meal, and there’s a very nice wine list to accompany dinner. 5 stars.
I would not recommend this restaurant.
Don’t ask for extra bread we did to go with our appetizer of antipasto but the waiter just walked away. One of my guests for dinner ordered the lamp chops special, she asked for them to be cooked rare but the meal was served very well done and dry. I had pasta with chopped clams, this restaurant advertised on the menu that their pasta is home made but it wasn’t. We were also rushed through our meal, I guess to make room for the next group. The tables are very close to each other, our table should have sat two people but they squeezed in the three of us. With so many good restaurants in Alexandria I would recommend everyone to pass on this one
Always excellent Italian. Have never had a bad experience and thank you.
Wonderful service and great food! Everything tasted fresh and delicious!
Wonderful restaurant experience. My husband and I dined here with our two close friends for our 7 year wedding anniversary. Food was so delicious, and our server, Terek, was amazing. Such a great smile and so polite. He was a fabulous server! Thanks Terek and Il Porto for a lovely evening!
This was the first time at Il Porto. Maybe my expectations were too high going in, but I found the service uninterested and definitely not very welcoming. The food was decent but only one of three had dishes that had much flavor. It was my idea to go, but with so many other good places to eat in Alexandria, I will look elsewhere in the future.
Great meal. Felipe is one of the best servers I have encountered in a long time; always smiling and made us feel special
Always a good choice whenever we’re in Alexandria
The place is nice but our party (of 3) was basically ignored/forgotten about when a much larger party sat next to us. After waiting around and failing to get anyone's attention, I had to go find the waiter 3x for bread, to ask them to take our order, and for the check at the end. We waited for our food for almost an hour after ordering but they refused to bring more bread to the table because "the food was coming soon". The food was just ok, sadly, the service was a huge let don. We are locals but I don't think we are going back.
Great food and wine, exceptional service. The quarters are a bit cramped.
Absolutely disappointed. I have eat'n here many times and it is/was my girlfriends favorite restaurant. Therefore, I schedule to have her birthday dinner there at her choosing. However, the food was NOT up to standards, nor was the speed of delivery (had to ask for bread), and the second glass of wine she had ordered tasted totally different than the original glass of wine. At her request I did not raise an issue at the time.
Food is excellent here. The maitre d/host is not very warm and friendly. No one said anything about my special request through Open Table. I’d said it was my mother’s bday but the host made no mention and of course the server didn’t either since the communication likely never made it to him. Our server overall was terrific! Attentive and overall a genuine person.
Our first time there, but we'll definitely go back. It's in a great location in Old Town Alexandria with a parking garage a few steps away. The service and food were excellent, and the acoustics were perfect for a quiet conversation at our table despite the fact there were many more diners there.
My husband and I went on an impromptu date here. The restaurant is intimate and cozy. I got one of the specials and my husband got the lasagna; both were delicious. Service was prompt and friendly. The prices are what you’d expect from this type of establishment.
If you’re looking for a lovely dining experience in Old Town Alexandria, this is the place! Rustic brick walls, fireplaces on two levels, and a most attentive wait staff set the scene, while excellent Italian food at very reasonable prices completes the picture. I had veal saltimbocca - tender, pounded thin, just the right amount of prosciutto, and blanketed in mozzarella. My wife’s lamb chop special was noteworthy; it was a generous portion done perfectly, slightly charred on the outside and mouth-watering tender inside. Most pastas and entrees come with a house salad, making the meal very affordable.
We were very pleased that both the waiter and maitre d made us feel at home by engaging us in conversation. I’d go back to Il Porto any time I’m in Old Town. Easy to find right on King Street!
A great find in Alexandria's Old Town. Great ambiance and service with a fairly mainstream southern Italian menu. Plenty of choices including enough to appeal to children. A inviting family run feel to this Italian eatery. Worth a visit.
Food was exceptional
Great food, service and moderately priced. Will go back again and again!
The housemade pasta is absolutely delicious, and the desserts all looked good, but I was too full to try one.
Great service and attention to my special request.
Just good food and great almosphere. I would only recommend that if you are not too busy, to slow down service. Our waiter was great but, we were there to just relax and in no hurry to eat right away. We should have mentioned that...the wine and food were fabulous.
Food was fabulous; service was ok
My girlfriend loved the place. We will be back in the future.
Great food, nice atmosphere and attentive service. I would go there again.
It was awesome!!
The food was really good and our waiter, I believe his name was Felipe, was excellent. Perfect place to go for a date night or special occasion.
My husband and I went for Valentines Day. He got one of the “specials”. The food was good but the portion was very small. The menu seemed to be limited and the portions smaller compared to when we were there in December. We were disappointed but will probably try it again.
I've eaten here about a half dozen times over the last 10 years. Always a good experience. Tonight though they seemed a bit rushed to clear our table and see us on our way. We were there early - before 5 pm; hardly any customers in the place. The food came quickly - no problem with that. We finished dessert and I really wanted to just relax a moment and have a cappuccino. But without asking "Will there be anything else," and without notice, the check was quickly put in the table. I didn't even get a chance to ask for coffee. I'm sure they would have brought some but I felt rushed, so we left.
Had dinner here for the first time on Saturday night and it was amazing! From the atmosphere to our waiter to the wine to the food. Perfect from start to finish. We will definitely be back!
We had a window seat which was very cozy and romantic and great for people watching outside on the street. The food was excellent and the service was perfect!
I brought a Singles Dinner Group of 12 to II Porto for Restaurant Week. The food, service, and atmosphere were pretty near perfection. Truly the best lasagna I have ever had. Their Restaurant Week menu did not excite any of us, so we all ordered off the regular menu. That was a bit of a disappointment, but most of us were very happy with our entrees, although the specials were a bit pricey, and not great. All in all, I look forward to coming back.
