Il Porto uses lots of fresh herbs and creative spices and we believe how you butcher the meat, how you grill a vegetable or protein in a particular way, makes all the difference to a dish.
lightly fried calamari served with side of red marinara sauce
raviolini stuffed with beef served in a red sauce or in a light cream sauce
fettuccine in a classic cream, butter & cheese sauce (also available in whole wheat)
We have dined at Il Porto on a number of occasions- holidays, date nights, etc. The service is always exceptional, the food is authentic and delicious and the ambience is amazing. Highly recommend!
Needed a quiet place for Sunday brunch where a friend and I could chat and actually hear each other. Il Porto was perfect - and the food and non-intrusive, but attentive service was very good.
Would definitely go back.
Excellent service and quaint ambience. We were seated at a table with a view of King Street and it was romantic and quiet even though the restaurant was filling up quickly. Reservations recommended after 7 pm. I had the manicotti and it was delicious and my husband had the lasagna and it was also very good. The calamari appetizer had a light batter and the dipping sauce was great. No room for dessert. Salad and bread came with dinner.
Food was excellent and service was great. I would highly recommend.
The building and atmosphere is very nice, the staff was kind and helpful, I was just not impressed with the food. The Alfredo sauce was oddly sweet and the manicotti had just an ok flavor.
Food was wonderful, as always! Service was slower than usual, and it wasn't very crowded.
Our party of 8 was greeted warmly by the host and seated right away. It was downhill from there.
We sat down at 6:35pm and didn't even get a glass of water until 25 minutes later. Our server was pleasantly inattentive the entire night. Water and drink glasses went unfilled even after repeated requests. We may have been willing to overlook the poor service if the food wasn't inconsistent.
We ordered two appetizers: the calamari and the tomato and mozzarella. the calamari was extremely overcooked. Like chewing on beef jerky.
My wife ordered the lasagna and I got the seafood special which, was essentially pasta puttanesca - is one of my favorites. Her lasagna was objectively terrible. I tried a bite. It tasted like it was burnt and had very little flavor.
My pasta puttanesca was also rather flavorless. the lobster and shrimp were overcooked, especially the lobster which was actually beyond over cooked. The scallops were cooked just right though. For a dish with olives and capers, you would expect the flavors to burst upon your mouth with each bite. The black olives were chopped up into small bits and were obviously lowest quality like yo'd find at some dimestore pizza joint. I would have prefered whole slices The capers I think they rinsed all the flavor away so you couldn't really perceive the brininess of them. Both our dishes were disappointing. Our seat mates like the manicotti and the fruit de mare. The chicken parm was good. Although it was busy, I think at least having someone walking around filling water glasses was the least they could do. I asked for a pitcher of water for the table and was told it was not allowed. Took three tries to get a coke refill. My wife asked for another martini which never came.
Our server asked how our food was and I told him my seafood dish was overcooked. He looked at me and shrugged. I ate it anyway but having a manager come over and inquire would have been a nice touch. Host wished us a good night by name when we left.
Thank you for leaving us a review. We are deeply apologetic that the service was not up to our usual standards. We have spoken to the kitchen and also to your waiter in order to ensure that this kind of service does not repeat itself. This is not reflective of our values of customer service and hospitality, and we hope that in the future we get to redeem ourselves. Please feel free to email us so we can continue to discuss your visit.
Service and food was great. Tried the pasta dishes and they were tasty. Tiramisu was very good.
Just ok - the food was a bit plain and not worth the price
Our last meal at Il Porto was 10 years ago. The food was wonderful then, and it was just as good this past trip. They expanded the menu, wine selection, and desert selection. My husband got a side of fettuccine alfredo which was so good that my son ordered an additional side to go with is pasta meal! We are not going to wait another 10 years to come back...
Amazing waiter, chef and atmosphere. Will dine there again and again!!!
Outstanding, as usual. This has been our spot for a belated Valentine's Day dinner for the past few years now, and we have yet to have a complaint. The food, the service...beyond excellent. Keep it up!
We each had one of the special entrees. Everything was delicious.
Service and vibe were both excellent. Nice wine menu. Food quality was unexpectedly quite poor, could have been an off-night, but my girlfriend and I were thoroughly disappointed.

Always a pleasure!
Went here for a belated Valentine's dinner and everything was great. Worth the 1 hour drive.
Had a lovely post Valentine’s date with my husband at Il Porto. He had the veal parmigiana and I had the chicken parmigiana. Both were excellent, and the Tartufo and Chocolate Bavarian Raspberry desserts we had respectively were even better!
The food and atmosphere was great! Really enjoyed the service!
The restaurant has been a staple in Old Town for many years. The food and service are always excellent. Nice to have a consistent go to spot.
The food was phenomenal, as was the ambiance. We were seated in a corner that was tight and I had a service tray in my back the entire meal but that’s the only complaint.
Fantastic food and service as usual. Great Italian restaurant! Best in the area
When we arrived for our 5:30 reservation I said to the gentleman at the hostess station (the maitre d' I assumed), good evening and his response was "do you have a reservation?" Not hello, welcome or how are you this evening. He didn't even look up. He asked for my name and advised us that our table was on the second floor. We proceeded up stairs to which a second maitre d' said "this way please". He escorted us to our table and told us to enjoy our meal. Our waiter was very nice. He advised us of the specials for that evening. He went and got us some water to give us some time to review the wine list and menu. He promptly came back and took our drink and meal order. Our wine and bread was delivered quickly. Followed by our salads and then dinner. As I mentioned, our waiter was a very friendly and polite, but customers in this type of restaurant should not have to ask for Parmesan cheese for their pasta or water for their glasses when they are empty. Keep in mind, this is at 5:30 and there was only a hand full of customers at the time. And to top it off. When we left, the waiter thanked us for coming but the maitre d' upstairs standing next to the exit couldn't be bothered. It sure changes the "can't wait to come again" feeling.
Thank you for leaving us a review! We apologize that you did not receive the welcoming service that we pride ourselves on. We take reviews like yours very seriously and we have spoken to the manager and waiter in question. We once again sincerely apologize and we hope that in the near future we have the opportunity to host you again.
This is our favorite restaurant. It’s our place.
We don’t have to look at the menu, we know exactly what we’re ordering. Right down to the wine.
That’s how special this restaurant is to us.
This meal was on Valentine's Day so it was a bit noisier than usual. Wonderful experience. Delicious food! Lovely ambiance.
Just okay. Very bland. Service was bland as well. Never refilled our waters, even after asking 3 times. Only when asked a third time, did someone remove old dishes from the already cramped kid sized Tables, which are far from large enough for the average adult. The overpriced, bland at best, food will be the reason we'll never return.
Thank you for leaving us a review. You joined us on one of the busiest days of the year. That night we served over 600 dinners so our waiters were more overwhelmed than usual. We apologize that the tables were small but we had to use special tables in order to accommodate the number of clientele we were expecting. Had you made a reservation and requested a specific table, we would have been happy to provide that for you.
Spent Valentine’s Day here once again the best old town has to offer
We felt rushed on Valentine's Day. The waiter told us that our dinners were ready when he brought our salads.
Hello Steve, thank you for leaving us a review. We apologize that you felt rushed but please keep in mind that we served over 600 dinners on Valentines day, one of the busiest days of the year. Regardless, this is no excuse and we apologize that we did not provide the quality service that we usually do.
Everything was amazing!!!
Love this restaurant but not go back on Valentine’s Day again as the service was very slow and lacking.
The lasagna and lobster ravioli were fabulous. Great place for a date night.
Wonderful Valentine’s Day dinner. The food and service is always amazing.
Great authentic Italian cuisine! Impeccable service and staff.
As usual Il Porto did not disappoint. My wife & I have been regular customers since the 1980’s. Last night we took our niece and nephew for their first visit. They both loved the food and historic ambience of the building and Old Town.
So I am so embarrassed. I have lived here for the past 5 years and have walked by this place almost every weekend without stopping. Not sure why. Seems touristy. Seems out of reach with expense. So wrong. Rather we enjoyed a wonderful meal and experience. Rocky was a great waiter. Hospitality abounds. Wonderful food. Waited 5 years too long. Go!
Always like this place. Polite people and great food
Table too small for the 4 of us. We were holding menus on our laps. Food was terrific!
We have not been there for years, but we are glad we came back. Cozy ambience and a tad boisterous. Fruite du Mare was the best as was the Shrimp and clams. The service was very slow but it was very crowded. Overall a great place for Italian food.
The food was Excellent. Our waiter was very courteous and polite.
Only downfall is the loud noise. We should have gotten seats on the lower level of the restaurant. Otherwise, I highly recommend this restaurant.
