The ambience and food was excellent! Our server Kevin was courtesy and prompt. The food was amazing and the outdoor seating was nice touch! They also followed COVID procedures. I definitely will be back.
Fidel was perfect and took great care of us.
Was a fantastic experience! Great service From Fidel!
Food was great and Kevin provided exceptional service - we highly recommend and look forward to going back soon
Wonderful service with Fidel! Our food was delicious! My favorite chicken Marsala ever!! Beautiful outdoor seating available too! If I lived nearby I’d come here often!
Service was awesome. Quick and attentive. Food came out quick. Calamari came out ice cold but it was quickly replaced with a piping hot one. Tender and delicious. Breading was a little thick on the veal and the Alfredo was a bit loose, very heavy nutmeg, but pasta was cooked perfectly. Tiramisu was amazing. Would return.
Kevin was very welcoming and made sure our experience was delightful. It was our first time dining out since restrictions began and this was the perfect location to go to. This was our first time dining at the restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised by the menu. Everything from the bread and salad down to the dessert was delicious. Can’t wait to go back!
It was a wonderful experience. $35 was quite pricey for a 6oz piece of salmon and 1 stalk of broccoli:-(
But our server Kevin was great! Very attentive to our needs.
Had a great time and great to be back since reopening! Kevin was a great waiter and the food was delicious, glad they’re back and have good safety procedures (distancing and mask wearing) during the pandemic. Looking forward to coming back!
I was so disappointed and surprised to see no one eating at this lovely restaurant when I had a business lunch, last week. Since Open Table had other restaurants in the area booked and I remembered how nice this restaurant was the last few times I had eaten there for lunch and dinner, I made a reservation. The food was excellent. The wait service was attentive, and the ambiance that includes authentic Italian music was pleasant as always. At the end of the meal, the waiter actually asked us to let others know that they were open for business, and my table took photos to post for them. I truly hope that business picks up. This restaurant has a wonderful, historic background, part of the Alexandria fabric.
Outstanding food, atmosphere, service and value. Have loved it for over thirty years and still do!
Great food & service.
This was our first time out in six months and we couldn't have asked for better food and service. Our server "Rocky" was amazing! We started with seasonal cocktails, which were delicious and calamari (the sauce was really good), then we both had specials for our entrees (branzino with tortellini and grilled asparagus) and (homemade pasta with crab, lobster and mushrooms). We ended with tiramisu and I tried a Mamma Mia Dream (it was as good if not better than meals we have eaten in Italy). I couldn't more highly recommend checking this place out, we will definitely be back!
Our dinner was fantastic. The filet mignon was the most tender steak I’ve ever eaten. The bread to accompany dinner was also delicious. A hint of sweetness made it really stand out. We had a great anniversary dinner. Thank you
Our waiter, Fidel V., was fantastic and very attentive. Really enjoyed dinner!
Chicken Marsala was delicious. Fidel was our waiter and he was fantastic. Very friendly.
Great service, food and a great time. I am a regular customer
Everything was lovely and the food quite good but no one read the two reasons we were there to celebrate.
The ambiance was the best part. Because of COVID part of Old Town shut down their streets and allowed for restaurants to have tables on the streets. A saxophonist played all night and it felt like we had our own private concert. He was amazing. All seating was covered with an umbrella. The service was good I just wish that the servers were required to wear gloves as well as masks. The food was a bit pricey ($30 fettuccine Alfredo) and was a little bland. Would I go again? Probably not but I do enjoy Old Town so is still go there to walk around.
Quality if simple Italian fare in a nice setting. A bit pricy but good overall. Exceptionally nice and professional wait staff.
Delicious food and excellent service. No complaints here. Perfect for a date night.
Great service and food!! All staff wore masks and social distancing was followed. First dining experience since the pandemic hit.
Specials were good, our server was knowledgeable and friendly. Support staff was great! We always had water and they were very pleasant.
It was a slower Monday evening and we enjoyed it very much. The French Chardonnay that we had was ok, even though I love those white marble wine stands they don’t keep the temperature and the wine ended up a little warm when our entrees came out.
All in all ambiance was great and we had a lovely dinner.
We had a great experience on Father’s Day. Our family were practically the only ones in the upstairs room (due to COVID preparation) initially. The servers were excellent and food was fresh and tasted fantastic. Service was quick. We will definitely be returning here!
Great meal at Il Porto and will go back. We sat inside and it was quiet and clean. Food as always was tasty.
We have dined at Il Porto on a number of occasions- holidays, date nights, etc. The service is always exceptional, the food is authentic and delicious and the ambience is amazing. Highly recommend!
Needed a quiet place for Sunday brunch where a friend and I could chat and actually hear each other. Il Porto was perfect - and the food and non-intrusive, but attentive service was very good.
Would definitely go back.
Excellent service and quaint ambience. We were seated at a table with a view of King Street and it was romantic and quiet even though the restaurant was filling up quickly. Reservations recommended after 7 pm. I had the manicotti and it was delicious and my husband had the lasagna and it was also very good. The calamari appetizer had a light batter and the dipping sauce was great. No room for dessert. Salad and bread came with dinner.
Food was excellent and service was great. I would highly recommend.
The portions were a bit small for hungry teenagers but they were all great.
The building and atmosphere is very nice, the staff was kind and helpful, I was just not impressed with the food. The Alfredo sauce was oddly sweet and the manicotti had just an ok flavor.
Food was wonderful, as always! Service was slower than usual, and it wasn't very crowded.
Our party of 8 was greeted warmly by the host and seated right away. It was downhill from there.
We sat down at 6:35pm and didn't even get a glass of water until 25 minutes later. Our server was pleasantly inattentive the entire night. Water and drink glasses went unfilled even after repeated requests. We may have been willing to overlook the poor service if the food wasn't inconsistent.
We ordered two appetizers: the calamari and the tomato and mozzarella. the calamari was extremely overcooked. Like chewing on beef jerky.
My wife ordered the lasagna and I got the seafood special which, was essentially pasta puttanesca - is one of my favorites. Her lasagna was objectively terrible. I tried a bite. It tasted like it was burnt and had very little flavor.
My pasta puttanesca was also rather flavorless. the lobster and shrimp were overcooked, especially the lobster which was actually beyond over cooked. The scallops were cooked just right though. For a dish with olives and capers, you would expect the flavors to burst upon your mouth with each bite. The black olives were chopped up into small bits and were obviously lowest quality like yo'd find at some dimestore pizza joint. I would have prefered whole slices The capers I think they rinsed all the flavor away so you couldn't really perceive the brininess of them. Both our dishes were disappointing. Our seat mates like the manicotti and the fruit de mare. The chicken parm was good. Although it was busy, I think at least having someone walking around filling water glasses was the least they could do. I asked for a pitcher of water for the table and was told it was not allowed. Took three tries to get a coke refill. My wife asked for another martini which never came.
Our server asked how our food was and I told him my seafood dish was overcooked. He looked at me and shrugged. I ate it anyway but having a manager come over and inquire would have been a nice touch. Host wished us a good night by name when we left.
Thank you for leaving us a review. We are deeply apologetic that the service was not up to our usual standards. We have spoken to the kitchen and also to your waiter in order to ensure that this kind of service does not repeat itself. This is not reflective of our values of customer service and hospitality, and we hope that in the future we get to redeem ourselves. Please feel free to email us so we can continue to discuss your visit.
Service and food was great. Tried the pasta dishes and they were tasty. Tiramisu was very good.
Just ok - the food was a bit plain and not worth the price
Our last meal at Il Porto was 10 years ago. The food was wonderful then, and it was just as good this past trip. They expanded the menu, wine selection, and desert selection. My husband got a side of fettuccine alfredo which was so good that my son ordered an additional side to go with is pasta meal! We are not going to wait another 10 years to come back...
Amazing waiter, chef and atmosphere. Will dine there again and again!!!
Outstanding, as usual. This has been our spot for a belated Valentine's Day dinner for the past few years now, and we have yet to have a complaint. The food, the service...beyond excellent. Keep it up!
We each had one of the special entrees. Everything was delicious.
