Il Portico Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant was very appealing to the eye. Fell in love with the orchid plants all around the room. The food was delicious and the presentation lovely with very large portions. The bottle of wine was reasonable. I hadn't been to Il Portico for quite some time. Will return more often.
We went here with another couple. The food was amazing the service awesome and it was a great experience. It was pretty empty, but I think that might be because it was a beautiful night and people may have gone to places with outdoor seating. But the owner stop by a few times and the servers were attentive and we will be going back soon
Passed by this place often, but never went in. In a region with many outstanding Italian restaurants, this one was surprisingly good. While this was our first visit and we therefore have limited experience with the menu, everything we had (charred grilled octopus, scallops pasta, veal) was outstanding. It's not a large restaurant so dinner will not be quick. But if you order a good bottle of wine and enjoy the excellent food, it's a terrific place to go. We will be back.
We had a lovely dinner at Portico. The food was wonderful. I enjoyed the spring soup, salmon and tiramisu. The service was courteous and timely, and we were fortunate to have a quiet table in the corner. I had not been to Portico in a few years. Recently, some friends recommended it to me. I'm glad I listened! I look forward to going back soon- and often!
My boyfriend and I went for Valentine's Day and we're definitely not disappointed. The staff was attentive, the ambiance incredible, and the food was to die for! And since it was vday, they gave each woman who came to dinner a single red rose which I thought was thoughtful and sweet! Will definitely be coming back for more special occasions!
The food , ambiance and service were wonderful. The chef has a creative mind which is evident in his preparation, quality and presentation of the food. Every dish that I tried was a culinary experience. I am looking forward to another great evening out at Il Portico. I had the pleasure to talk to the owner . He is a kind and genuine person. Il Portico has made my birthday special .
With gratitude, Marina
Food was fantastic and the waiter and waitress could not be nicer! Have always wanted to go here and since my birthday I got to pick restaurant to dine with friends. LOVED the staff, food and atmosphere. Will definitely be returning. Even gave me a beautiful dessert - free. (also delicious)
I took my husband here for his birthday, just the two of us. The most remarkable thing about this restaurant is it's atmosphere. Quaint, cozy, perfect evening on a snowy night. The menu is extremely limited and not well balanced, but the food is good. The service was excellent, our waiter was able to easily answer questions we had about menu selections and we were well attended to. They offer a few desserts, one of which we wanted and they were out of it even though we were there for a 6 pm dinner. The flourless Chocolate truffle was very good, creamy and like fudge. Probably the best selection of the evening. Not a "Wow!" restaurant, but a very pleasant evening.
This place is nice if you live close by. The food is delicious, I recommend the Octopus appetizer and the Branzino for the entree. However, we traveled 45 minutes to try this restaurant in the small quaint town of Tappan, not worth the drive for us. No ambiance, and more waitstaff is needed. There should at least be a host to greet people when they come in. We were standing in the front area for a while until we were noticed. Give it a try if you live close by.
