Very good food..I loved the roasted brussels sprouts appetizer and the fish was superb. Tablemates went with lasagna and chicken parmesan. Both lauded their choices. Desserts were truly great...
We live a block from here and had walked by this fairly new Lettuce Entertain You Italian concept. It will remind you of the bar in Maggianos - cozy, oldies playing in the background, pictures on the wall reminiscing the 50's and 60's. The food was good but not noteworthy or exceptional. I had Chicken Parm and my wife had a spicy pasta dish with added italian sausage. Our appetizer was the roasted artichoke which to me was nothing but bread crumbs. They do charge for bread which is freshly baked. They have garlic bread or some type of bread with cheese. If you get the garlic bread, they pour some garlic butter over it but the bread is so thick it soaks it up immediately and the bread is then dry so you'll want to have something with some sauce. The service from Erik was outstanding. He always seemed to be there without being intrusive which is an art. Plus we were there on Triple Points day which always brings a crowd. It just could have been that we didn't order the right dish but we will be back to try the menu which really has a lot of variety. It was hard to narrow down a choice.
Love this place. Amazing pasta and love the Tuscan bread. Exceptional service as well.
Second time there - still as delicious! Be sure to try the Butterscotch Pie!
Great food and drinks. They play Oldies music so the vibe of the place is relaxed while still feeling upscale due to the design and service. We eat here often!
LOVED this place and will definitely go back when back in Chicago! It felt intimate, yet also inviting, and casual. The music was perfect and created a fun atmosphere. Loved every bite of my food!
Great food and waitress was the best!
It was our first time and the staff and food were amazing!!! Definitely will be going back and taking others there!
I have eaten in Italian restaurants all over the country and thus was without a doubt ine of the best meals Ive ever eaten
Love everything about this place. My absolute fave in Chicago. Hands down.
Everything was great - start to finish! The restaurant had a fun and lively vibe. Food was hot and delicious. What a find!
The only issue was that the restaurant was very loud. We had a group of eight people and not only could we not all talk to each other easily, I could barely hear the people seated right across from me. The food was good though!
I was in Chicago for business and, since I don't get to have much authentic Italian food at home, I sought out a restaurant that I could get some excellent pasta or other classic Italian dish. After a little bit of internet searching I learned that this place was literally just around the corner from my hotel. That made it easy to access especially since I wanted someplace I could walk to (even though the weather was nasty that evening).
The food was almost entirely delicious. Although I'd hope to be able to order risotto, there was none on the menu that evening. Low and behold, however, the server brought me a free order of couple of deep-fried risotto balls perched on a small dab of marinara sauce. Yum! For my entree I had the chicken parmesan, which was scrumptious. I also had a side salad (sans salami) that was very refreshing. I couldn't finish the parmesan, and took it back to my hotel fridge (and ate for dinner the following evening). Even though I was stuffed, I decided to try the salted caramel semifreddo for dessert. It was pretty good, but was not really made with salted caramel in the way that understand that food to mean. It was mostly custard with some decorative caramel on top, and then a sprinkling of salt on top of that. That the salt was not incorporated in the caramel meant that the blend of sweet and not sweet was not well calibrated, and overall was a bit like licking a salt lick. I would not have that dessert again! (That's the only reason I didn't not give this place 5 stars for "Food.").
The service was excellent. Sammi (I think that was her name) was an attentive and knowledgeable waiter, and the servers were swift and sure.
It was the perfect pre theatre dinner! The meal and service were both perfect. Highly recommend!
We were visiting Chicago from Boston and found Il Porcellino on Yelp. We made a reservation and were welcomed upon arrival. Our server was very helpful with making appetizer and entree decisions.
She also made suggestions on where to visit while in town. We split a few different items off the menu and finished with dessert and cappuccino. Great spot!
Great service! Over the top! Had a blast!
Everything was amazing !! Our waiter was fantastic and Kiva the manager was so friendly!
Last minute reservation. Wanted something close to our hotel. Did not disappoint overall. Staff was wonderful. Loved the Brussel sprouts and calamari. Had the gnocchi.....it was so so, as well as the chicken parm and tortellini, which were both good. (Too much food for two people.). Chianti was lovely. Would certainly go there again if in town.
A bit pricey, but our new "go-to" place downtown. Love the food and music. The wait staff is very attentive. Perfect for a date or to celebrate an anniversary.
Fantastic food and service. The only complaint I have is that they did not offer freshly grated parmesan cheese to top the pasta dishes, and I believe Italian food that good should have freshly grated parmesan cheese!!
Great atmosphere and service. The food was excellent. We had a wonderful evening.
Great food and service. Beautiful ambiance too.
Catherine, our server in the bar area, was excellent, and very patient with us as we made our decision for cocktails. And the food was lovely, especially the eggplant Parmesan. We did have a little complaint with the grilled calamari, it was a bit too chewy, and I would not order that again.
We really enjoyed the casual atmosphere, and the great music that was playing. We were a bit disappointed, that there wasn’t Italian music being played in Italian restaurant. We thought there would be more Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin playing in the background! But it certainly did not take away from our great experience
I eat quite often at IL Porcellino because I absolutely love the food. However, I was quite disappointed last night with the garlic shrimp alla Martin. The pasta was over cooked and the shrimp were very bland. I asked for some lemons to give it some form of flavor, but didn’t do the trip. A friend had taken me thee to celebrate my promotion, so needless to say, I was so disappointed. Just wasn’t a good choice for dinner.
Very friendly & helpful staff! Nice walk in warmer weather from the theater district. Can’t go wrong with the lasagna!!
We have been to this restaurant a dozen times. It is very good food and very reasonable prices. They can accommodate all size parties. Great menu full of great Italian choices for entrees and many appetizers. Everything we have tried is good. So a good go to spot for us and our friends or family.
As usual, everything was first-rate. Something new for me was the "bartender's choice": tell them what you like or don't like in a cocktail (type of liquor, sweet or not, etc.) and the they will create a unique drink for you.
The special with pasta, shrimp, calamari got high ratings from the members of the group.
Nice meal. Can’t believe an Italian restaraunt does not provide free bread. Otherwise food was very good and we would recommend it to others
Food was very good. Bother the linguine with clam sauces and the pappardelle bolognese were excellent choices. Very friendly staff.
Very good. Music too loud
The food here was outstanding. The wine list had a great array of selections and the bartenders make some great drinks as well! The staff was extremely friendly and our waiting staff gave great recommendations for what food we might enjoy and what wine could pair. Definitely coming back.
Our food was delicious! We had the gnocchi and fettuccine alfredo along with the Tuscan cheese bread. Our server was polite and attentive but we felt quite rushed.
Great server, can’t remember her name but she was very sweet, and gave us great service! Very pretty inside the restaurant and the food was delicious.
Love this place! They have special touches like no other - they know what you liked on your last visit and being it straight to you! It’s like going to your fav restaurant and they know you and what you like! There isn’t anywhere in Chicago where they pay this much attention to you and what you have liked/ disliked! Feels like an old (in a good way) Italian bar where you feel at home!!!
Pretty darn mediocre. We were surprised how meh our meal was because the reviews on Opentable were good. If you like middle of the road, mass market Italian in a somewhat kitschy old-school setting, then this is for you. I expected better from a newer LEYE restaurant. There were four of us, and while our guests were polite and said they liked it, neither of them cleaned their plates. Except for the brussel sprouts --they were very good. Will not be going back.
Great food and service! Very enjoyable visit. Stuffed artichoke was amazing.
Loved the food, the service and the MUSIC..was perfect..not too mellow nor overpowering and drowning out our conversation. Went to celebrate a friend's bday and we both loved everything. The ambience us great, a tad too busy for a Wednesday evening but all good. Our server was helpful in helping us select the entrees. Having lived in Italy my expectation of Italian food is rather high. But both the burrata and the linguine with clams was delicious. Will definitely come here for a date night with hubby!
The garlic bread was wonderful! Caesar and caprese salads were excellent. Host and waitstaff were warm and inviting. Lasagne was just okay and the meatballs in the spaghetti and meatballs were barely warm. Because we were going to the theater, didn’t want to send them back to be heated through.
WE PICKED THIS RESTAURANT BASED OFF OF REVIEWS THAT I SAW. I WAS A BIT NERVOUS BUT ENDED UP EXTREMELY PLEASED. I DINED WITH MY FAMILY FOR EASTER AND WE LOVED EVERYTHING INLCUDING OUR WAITER, WHO WAS GREAT!
Also belated birthday celebration! It was amazing! Just what we all needed! Wine was tasty and food was delicious! Will def be back!
