Great food and service, the music was too loud to hear my guest. There was also only 3 bathrooms which was frustrating when waiting in line every time I had to use the washroom
The waitress was on top of it. She was great
The food, service and atmosphere rank Il Porcellino among the best of Lettuce Entertain You restaurants!
Wife and I met there with friends and had a delightful dinner. Picked this place on the basis of reviews and it didn’t disappoint. We each had something different and enjoyed it. I had the lasagna and it was spectacular!
Our waitress was beyond amazing
Great experience, love the music and ambiance. The food was delicious and our server was very friendly.
This place is may be what you might expect from a chain type restaurant>>>a lot of choices but none of the food was out of this world. It was certainly passable but not up to par with some other Italian places in Chicago. It can get very pricey quickly>>>our bill for 4 was $300 with the tip. The wait staff was great as was the wine guy>>>very accomadating and friendly>>>went along with the table banter very well. This place is very loud and if you are with a soft spoken person>>>good luck!!! they do serve a frothy lemoncello @$11 a hit that is very nice as a after dinner drink>>>would recommend this even at $11. If a group were going here I wouldn't fight the majority rules but for my tastes I wouldn't choose this place again. Also should mention, the background music which is also" loudish" is all late 50 early 60s which I happen to like, but I never got the connection of the music to the place or clientele.
We arrived on time with reservations and we were told they were running late and to wait at the bar. We ordered drinks mainly to kill time to get a $29 bar bill for two ordinary drinks. This felt like suspicious.
I love the decor of the room. Everything we had was very solid. Prices seem a little high, but no more than comparable Italian restaurants in River North. Will come back. 3 of us shared the Tuscan Cheese Bread, small Italian Salad, orchiette with brocollini and sausage, and chicken vesuvio. Had the chocolate cake and the grapefruit-prosecco sorbet. Enjoyed all of those. The only thing to criticize us the wine list which seemed too pricey. Had a glass of the Super Tuscan #2 which was only OK but not worth the $15. The cheaper wines by the glass were described as light or thin. Either this is an attempt to up sell wines and implies an unnecessarily poor selection of affordably priced wines.
My fiancée and I are here for her birthday and we were not disappointed. The ambiance is great and the decorations were unlike anything we have seen in other restaurants. Food was terrific - we started with fried calamari and Caesar salads and then had the orecchiette with broccolini and sausage and gnocchi’s with bolognese sauce. I had also called ahead and asked they do something for her birthday - they came out with ice cream and a candle which was very nice. Overall, great experience. Wait staff was very helpful as well!
