I had some close friends in town from Texas, and they asked me to find an Italian place for dinner. After some looking around, I found Il Porcellino. It was amazing! The servers were great. The food was spectacular. And, we all left happy. If you're looking for a great red sauce, Italian place in Chicago, you can't go wrong here.

Since three members of our party have Celiac's disease, Our server spent time describing in detail the menu items that they could eat and how dishes could be modified and which ones to stay away from. This was greatly appreciated!

Great food & service. Wonderful experience with one exception, the music. Volume was over the top loud and selection was poor for an Italian restaurant. Incredible food and service was top end.

MY wife and I had our anniversary dinner here and it was great. Only thing was the amount of times the waitress came to the table really was irritating.

I love this restaurant always a go to when someone wants Italian when they are visiting, we had a reservation at 8:15 and did not get seated until 8:45. That was frustrating, but they did everything they could to make the rest of our night perfect. Our first appetizer was on them, the service was fantastic. The food is delicious and your bill will not break the bank, which is always a plus.

This was recommended by a local friend and it was wonderful. We loved the cheese bread, burrata cheese app and Caesar salad. The brick chicken is wonderful, pastas amazing, and lasagna outstanding. In addition to great food, service was wonderful. Highly recommended!

Dinner at il Porcellino turned out to be the highlight of our family trip to Chicago. The ambience is fantastic. The Brussels sprouts were the best we’ve ever had. The garlic bread loaf was to die for. Our pasta entrees were exceptional. And the graham cracker/custard dessert was a beautiful finishing touch. After 20+ trips to Chicago, this is now our favorite place.

PS-we joined their email list and received a $25 discount. Unfortunately, we forgot to present it to our waiter. Don’t make the same mistake 😳

What a gem! This place is so cute, I passed it one day and made a mental note to try it. Went with a friend for Saturday night dinner and we were both so impressed! Everything we ate was absolutely delicious, and the drinks were also great!! One of my new favorite spots, and will take visitors to the city there without a doubt! PS. The Brussels sprouts as an app was the best decision!!

We had a 7:30 pm reservation. We were seated in time and offered two different tables which was a nice touch. The servers were attentive and the sommelier was very knowledgeable. The service was well paced and we enjoyed the grilled calamari appetizer. Dinner was exceptional. The sea bass was perfectly cooked and the pasta I had was heavenly. We had a nice bottle of vino Nobile de Multipulciano with dinner and Italian after dinner drinks with dessert. All in all a fantastic dining experience

Great burrata lasagna, according to my husband! Excellent, very lemony, Chicken limone for me. The cheese bread we had as a "side dish" was a bit too heavy. I would opt for a side of pasta for my chicken in the future. Caesar salad was very good - small size was plenty for 2 of us to share. Skipped dessert, as we were too full, and even took half our entrees home with us.

I picked Il Porcellino based on yelp review. The food was really good and the service was a bit slow. The manager Iliand was super and made sure everything went well. The Calamari Friti, Ravioli and Steak Frites are must order. I like their good, better and best wine choices and the bottles weren't crazy expensive. We had a nice time. My favorite desert was the pana cotta. YUM

We found Il Porcellino by accident last year. Since then, my husband had his work dinner here and every one of his coworkers has returned more than once, and we have returned several times. The food is always delicious, the drinks are outstanding, and the service is amazing. Super friendly and relaxed atmosphere lends to an overall wonderful experience.

The restaurant had a great ambience to meet with friends or for a date. We sat right on the edge of the restaurant and the windows were open in the front, which was lovely. Our service was amazing and they were always at our table when we needed them. The food was sub-par. The calamari was good, but the garlic bread was just doused in butter and quite messy. We split the Cacio e Pepe which was doused in butter as well and felt sort of mushy.

This is the first time I dine at this restaurant and chose it per yelp's reviews, which was a wrong decision. This restaurant is very loud and the food is absolutely lackluster and bordering bad. I dine at italian restaurants all the time and visit Italy often and this is one of the most "meh" italian food I have ever tasted. The quality and portion/price ratio are really off. I think it is a run of the mill kind of restaurant which is suitable for people to hang out and drink who do not care about food that much. We ordered the chopped salad and caprase salad to share for the four of us. Both were very sloppily executed with poor ingredients. The only entree that was good was the brick chicken but not sure if it is worth the price. The Spicy Shrimp Pasta was poorly done and the sauce was very much like sauce from a jar. The sliced steak was OK but the portion is lacking and it was just that - a few slices of steak and half of the plate were fries. The kitchen did not bother to add some greens, garnish or a bit more care in presenting the dish. We were not offered parmesan cheese or fresh ground black pepper with our meal which is quite a "miss" for an italian restaurant. The pappardelle tasted meh also but the pappardelle was an inch wide so that was new to me also. Anyway, l am very doubtful that the chefs are true italians based on the food. Please note the drinks are very expensive and the waitress pushed for that so I get a feeling that the restaurant really wants to ensure the bill tab reflects lots of drinks. This has not been an enjoyable experience for our graduation celebration which is too bad. I think Chicago has a lot of better restaurants to choose from so this is just not good if you truly want an authentic italian meal.
