il Porcellino Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I dined at il Porcellino before going to a play, all part of our 36th wedding anniversary celebration. The restaurant was wonderful. We were early for our reservation, however we were seated shortly after arriving. Our server asked if we had been there before, and when we said No, she was very forthcoming with helpful suggestions. We ordered stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer, and they were delicious. My wife ordered Salmon, and I ordered Bass, and both fish entrees were well prepared, and delicious. We shared a dessert, and were provided with glasses of Champagne to celebrate our anniversary. My wife and I both agreed that they could not have done any more to make our meal enjoyable. We will be back!
Amazing experience. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, fun and a bright spot in our dining experience. Sazi even had a tide to go pen readily available for a red sauce mishap. The ambiance was cozy with fun music playing in the background. From start to finish, everything was on point.
Food wasn’t good , terrible service and music was stupid .What type Italian restaurant plays Motown songs all night long ?
I am a Italian i know my food , we order pistachio gelato they bring something else and we had to wait for at list 7-8 minute for the spoon so we can eat the damn gelato.
No moscato d'asti in Italian restaurant ? That’s a biggest shame right there
I wouldn’t call this place a Italian restaurant ,mostly American restaurant with a Italian menu but they cook like American not like Italian .We made a reservation for 7.15 and they give us the table around 7.45
Generous portions of great Italian dishes. Go for the Lasagna if you can share it (or have your lunch the next day). We did have a service issue with our server bringing the wrong dish. She insisted we ordered it but all three of us concurred we did not. She did not offer to bring the correct one, as we agreed to settle for it. She did comp us a desert though. Overall a good meal.
While at a conference in Chicago, we had dinner at Il Porcellino and it was amazing! We dined family style and every dish was outstanding. The tables are pretty close together, making it a bit loud, but the food and vibrancy was worth it. The linguine with clams was fantastic!
Another Lettuce Entertain Youwinner. Great Italian fare. We ordered family style for six. The cheese bread with marinara was crazy good. The roasted Brussel sprouts with pancetta was amazing. By the time the main courses arrived, I told our server to wrap them up.
It was our first time here and the food was very good, but the service was mediocre. We had a reservation and because we had to change the number from 7 to 5 people at the last minute (due to someone in our party having a family emergency, they sat us in the bar, right near the front door instead of at a table in the restaurant when the restaurant was pretty empty. We were there for an early dinner before a show, so we would have been in and out before the dinner rush.
il Porcellino continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in River North! The food never ceases to exceed my expectations -- I honestly can't pick a favorite dish. But what makes this place even better is the exceptional service. The staff knows how to treat their guests and they help make a celebration just a little more special!
