Excellent food and service. The October pasta special was scrumptious. My husband’s chicken piccata was excellent as well. Our waitperson was efficient, friendly, and very welcoming. Despite being crowded, service was topnotch and attentive. We always have a good time in your dining room.
Love love love this restaurant - best Italian in river north and so good it is now impossible to get a reservation!
I do have one critique - in all the menu items I order (the shrimp scampi and the vodka pasta) I notice that the spice level of these dishes is sometimes extreme, and I’m someone who can handle a good amount of heat.
I’m not sure if someone is just being over-eager with the red pepper but on a vodka pasta or a scampi, that level of spice is not appropriate in my mind.
Thank you for the review. Your feedback about the spice level is crucial. Thank you for sharing.
I was disappointed that Porcelino didn’t have their breaded artichoke anymore from the time we visited a few years ago, but everything was delicious. (This is hard dish to make, and not everyone understands how to enjoy it! It’s hard to find)
Chopped salad was a real standout and everyone at the table loved it. Cocktails also top notch for my wife’s birthday. With a week’s advance reservation we were placed in a lovely corner booth.
Beer taps were out of order, coffee had to be brought over from another restaurant. I get that the service industry is still getting back on its feet and adjustments are still happening all over, which is why I only knock it down to a b+ or A-
Paul, we will be way more prepared with both beer and coffee for your next visit. Come see us again soon please. Thanks for the honest feedback.
Loved the atmosphere and fantastic service and food!!
Amazing food and staff. While not specifically for kids our 10 and 6 year old really enjoyed it!
Perfect spot for our business meeting. Staff sat us in the corner booth where a glass divider kept any kitchen noise from overpowering our conversation. We were visited regularly, given our drinks & food with perfect timing, and everything tasted great. I will definitely come back again.
Try the Very Special Lasagna - it didn’t disappoint. We had great service from friendly staff and the food was fabulous. A lovely interior that doesn’t feel designed, yet has a nice ambiance. Sorry e we didn’t have room for dessert, but I can’t imagine these folks do anything badly.
Food was excellent.
Server seemed either distracted or overwhelmed, though the restaurant was nearly empty on a Sunday afternoon-he was MIA for most of our meal.
We will return again in the future, though.
Very nice restaurant with good food. Our server, Malcolm, was attentive and friendly. We'd definitely come back to try some of the other menu items when we're back in the city.
I reserved a table for my anniversary about 3 weeks before, for 8:30 on a Saturday. We got in slightly early and they said they were a little backed up, but we did not have to wait long as we were at our table by 8:35. The service was great, friendly and attentive, and the chef brought out our pasta dishes daily quickly after ordering. The food was excellent and authentic, I had penne with creamy tomato sauce and grilled chicken and my girlfriend had rigatoni with vodka sauce, both were fantastic. The atmosphere was authentic and rustic without being overbearing. The prices seemed slightly high at first, but after we ate it seemed much more reasonable based on taste and portion size. As and Italian, I get picky with my Italian restaurants because they may not be authentic enough, but il Porcellino is definitely of the highest standards. Would definitely go again and would recommend to a friend!
Good, service and ambiance were fantastic!!! Goodfellas vibe with very reasonable wine prices. The lasagna was to die for and everything looked amazing! Highly recommend and I will make sure to return every time I visit Chicago.
We are thrilled to have you again soon. Thank you!
Food was great. I was late for my reservation by 10 mins but the team worked with me to still get me & my date seated in a reasonable time. The food & ambiance was great. The service wasn’t the best. Our server seemed a little overwhelmed & busy but he was apologetic. Overall it was good & I will definitely come back hopefully when it’s less busy.
Great food. Quick service. Family environment
We ate at the bar and enjoyed the evening. The service was great.
We came in from out of town and a local friend recommended this restaurant to us. The food was superb and our server was very professional and knowledgeable about the entrees and other choices. We were extremely pleased with our meal and will revisit this restaurant next time we are in Chicago. Make a reservation for sure!
The food was outstanding. It was a little loud for a dinner date.
Broccolini had so much garlic on it that it was inedible.
Chicken Marsala gummy from flour, not browned at all, too salty & lacked Marsala flavor.
Delicious! Service was a little slow but good portions, wine was very good and tiramisu was amazing. Would recommend
Amazing! Lasagna and Rigatoni were 10/10! Service was great!!
Nice seating, cheap happy hour, good appetizer selection. Didn't eat dinner but would go back after I saw the extensive menu
Poor / rude waitstaff. Food was pretty bland. Would have received better tasting pasta dishes at Olive Garden truthfully. For a Lettuce restaurant, we were surprised the quality of the food was that bad.
Food was delicious staff was great ambiance was pleasant 5 stars
The food was delicious! Portions were very generous. My only problem was that the alcoholic drinks were incredibly watered down. Way more than what one should be okay with.
Great ambience. Great food. Friendly staff. Amazing aperol spritz.
Fantastic ravioli. Ordered two of the garlic bread because the first was so good.
Marathon dining at its worse! 5:45pm reservations snd food came to us at 7:20pm. It’s the night before the marathon. The Food is priced well and it’s okay but honestly this was a bad thing to wait this long!
Food was great from start to finish, and the waiter was extremely helpful.
Our server was amazing. Knowledgeable and friendly. Food was 10/10
Food was good and the garlic bread is some of the best you’ll ever have in your life. We ate on a Friday night, we waited about 15-20 minutes to be seated despite having a reservation. Id also say the tables are really close together and it’s pretty packed in so if you have Covid concerns or dining with your family, I would consider going during a less busy time.
Beer was broken. How can that be? The service was great otherwise.
Second visit. Food is amazing. We sat at the high top tables on the street. It started to rain during our meal. It didn’t effect us… just added to the magic. The food is amazing. Nothing disappointing on the menu.
Excellent choice for my daughter's birthday. Service was amazing.
The food is always good. We had fried calamari to share with the Caprese salad.
The pasta special with garlic and short ribs was excellent.
The Negronis are excellent as always.
The service was slow and it's a bit pricey.
Great food, cant go wrong in that place. Very authentic
Stopped by for a fantastic dinner mid week. Great service and ambience, sat adjacent to the street with open air dining. The pasta was fresh and tasty, the appetizers and bread were amazing. Fried Brussels, garlic butter bread and scoozie salad were all terrific. Short but good wine list. Finished with excellent tiramisu. Would visit again if in the area.
Wonderful food and lovely staff!
Wonderful pasta. Garlic bread was delicious.
The food was amazing. I enjoyed the ambiance and my server. I will visit each time I go to Chicago.
