Carbonara was the worst ever. Pasta was overcooked and tasted like it was just in water. Yuck
One of my colleagues does not identify as a female and our server called us “ladies” at least 6 times in a matter of 1 minute. Pronouns don’t need to be asked, but those assumptions shouldn’t be made either. Referring to a table as “ladies” isn’t necessary.
Il Porcellino continues to be outstanding. I have review it a number of times, so there is little new excpet for the specials.
I could cut the "36-hour pork chop Parmesan" with a fork. The lemon meringue pie, which is being
considered as a new addition to the menu is the perfect light finish if you have a heavy entree.
Normally whenever I come here, I have a great experience and the food is amazing, but the food came up short this visit. The sauce in the linguine pasta with white clam sauce was very runny, the grilled calamari was under-seasoned, and the Tuscan cheese bread seemed a bit stale. Service was also slow on this day, but still outstanding - and made sure we had everything we needed and even provided us a free dessert for our friends birthday.
The only comment, I would add a traditional Italian antipasto i.e. meats, selection of cheese, olives etc and branzino. Then 5 stars across the board.
Great food and wine with an authentic Italian feel! Definitely coming back to this restaurant.
We absolutely love it here! Great food, service, and atmosphere! Would definitely recommend!
It was amazing but the food was not as flavorful as I was expecting!
Great staff and food was delicious! For the meatballs, brussels, gnocchi and rigatoni vodka
We came to il Porcellino for my birthday dinner because it’s one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. As always, the food was absolutely amazing. The service was slightly sub-par this time. The server was a bit slow and forgetful. (We asked for a few things that never came.) Otherwise, the evening was perfect.
Great food and great service. The restaurant got very busy but was not too loud. The wait staff were excellent.
I love this old style Italian restaurant. Great ambiance, décor, very kind and engaging staff, professional and knowledgeable regarding their menu, love the music. The bar is great.
Loved everything about our experience. Food was amazing, our waiter was outstanding and the ambiance was just right. Will definitely be back!
I chose this restaurant for because they serve Cacio de Pepe and it received very good reviews. Cacio de Pepe is my favorite Italian dish and recently had it in Rome at four different restaurants. Il Porcellino's version has very little flavor and there was watery liquid at the bottom of the bowl. There was very little cheese used in the dish. My friend had a beef dish with red sauce. It was ok, not great. The fettuccine alfredo was the best of the three entrees ordered at our table. The cheese break was very good.
We met family our out of town family in Chicago for a fun weekend, and I strongly recommended this restaurant!
As usual, the service and the food (salmon, artichoke, shrimp scampi) was excellent, and we’re already planning another visit.
Food was terrific and the atmosphere was fun. Our server was pleasant, knowledgeable and very helpful. All her recommendations were spot on.
This was the first time we have eaten at Il Porcellino and we really enjoyed it, mainly because we could actually hear the dinner conversation! It wasn't too loud and the background music was great! 50's, 60's music! The food was delicious so we will be back!
Great classic Italian American food. If you are not in the mood for pasta, try the 36 Hour Pork Chop Parmesan. So tender and delicious! The Cheese bread is delicious as well. Great atmosphere and very attentive friendly service.
We loved this place! Super great ambiance and wonderful food. Make sure to get the garlic loaf when you come.
il Porcellino was a fantastic experience! The restaurant has an inviting vibe, terrific staff, and outstanding Italian cuisine. Reservations are highly recommended as it fills up quickly during the dinner hours. Our server Mario was exceptional! Very personable and extremely knowledgeable regarding the menu and drink selections. Will definitely recommend to friends and family.
Solid and consistent. Very good
New Years eve
Great food, great service, great way to break in the New Year!
We had such a great dining experience at Il Porcellino! We could only get a 4:15 reservation due to New Year’s Eve and wanted to be within walking distance of the Nederlander Theater. It was our first time at this restaurant. We were greeted immediately and seated by our server, Christine. She was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Our dinner consisted of delicious cocktails, an appetizer of fried burrata, and scrumptious garlic bread, followed by “36 hour baked pork chops,” linguini with clam sauce, and shrimp scampi with spinach. All dishes were beautifully prepared with fresh ingredients and amazing flavor! We finished our meal by sharing a Spumoni (the best I have ever had) and a white peach sorbetto (tasted just like fresh peaches)! The prices were reasonable and the ambiance was perfect! We will be back!!
Server was amazing, probably the best server ever. The food was great. The fried calamari melts in your mouth.
The best Italian food I’ve ever had in Chicago! The homemade garlic bread and lasagna are a must have!!
Excellent as always. Try the Tuscan cheese bread as an appetizer.
Great food, excellent service, you can go for a family dinner or to have drinks with friends as well.
Loved the food and the ambiance.
This was the second time we visited this restaurant. The service was ice again fantastic and the food was outstanding. I would describe the atmosphere as very homey. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes authentic Italian fare. Try the meatballs. They are to die for.
We ordered too much food! My husband ordered the Lasagna. It was Awesome!!!! I sampled it and it was the best Lasagna I ever had. I got Gnocchi. It was good but not my best. Wished I ordered Lasagna. Appetizers were good. Calamari and cheese bread. My daughter loved the Caesar Salad and Fettuccine.
We went to Il Porcellino for dinner on our Chicago vacation. It was a fantastic experience and we will highly recommend the restaurant to our friends and will return when back in town. The Italian food was delicious, the service was attentive and top-notch. The restaurant is warm and inviting. Highly recommended to anyone who is looking for the best Italian food in the Windy City!
Really great experience here with family! We had the Tuscan cheese bread and fried calamari to start- delicious! Each of us had a different type of dish and cocktail. Outstanding and attentive service. Would recommend and come back again!
A return visit. I’m afraid that my entree wasn’t as enjoyable as my choice on previous visits. But I’ll visit again.
Spent Christmas Eve at Il Porcellino and i couldn’t have picked a better restaurant. The food was amazing!!!! Definitely coming back!
