can't wait to go back! amazing service, food and ambiance. Perfect
The food was excellent and the service was too. We will definitely be regulars at this restaurant!
Food was okay nothing special. We did not like how there wasn't unlimited bread on the table!
Excellent food, surprising quick service, polite and informative wait staff. It's a little pricey, but worth it in the end.
Every time I come here, I can’t wait to come back! We had a wonderful time, the drinks are always fantastic, the food is even better, and the service was outstanding. Thanks for a great night, I look forward to seeing you again!
We just keep coming back. We have theatre subscriptions and need a restaurant that respects our time restrictions. We have enjoyed fantastic service and delicious meals every time we dine here.
Had the Pork Shoulder and Fava Beans. Was terrific.
The lasagna is a must! Food was amazing and we had great service!
Another reliable restaurant from the lettuce group. Traditional Italian food in a vibrant atmosphere. Great service.
Overall, we were really impressed with our visit to il Porcellino. The variety of dishes available was great - two out of four of us are vegetarians, and there were plenty of options for both the meat-eaters and the vegetarians. Also, the service was absolutely fantastic. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a solid Italian food restaurant.
Very good food, great staff at the bar and restaurant.
Went to Il Porcellino on a whim Friday night. Made a reservation at 8 pm for 9:30. Got there at 9, and m party of three was seated within 20 minutes. Just enough time for a round of drinks at the crowded bar. The night was warm so the garage door front windows were wide open. Cocktails were excellent: I had their "Untouchables" Old Fashioned, SO had a Dirty Martini, and her friend had a Prosecco. When it came to dinner, I had the Chicken Parm, while companion had the Cecio e Pepe. The wine was an overpriced Barolo. Dessert was Bombolinos and Tiramisu. Service was excellent, and they knew when to leave us alone. We were really lucky to get a corner banquette, bigger than the three of us needed, but out of the line of fire of a busy restaurant. And we could hear each other! Overall, terrific night out.
Visiting Chicago with friends for the wekend and had a great time Friday night at il Porcellino. Nice atmosphere and food (the bread was unbelieveable), and our server was a lot of fun.
It was a very fun place with good food! The music was a too loud for us.
Visited on a thursday evening, 530 reservation; the food was excellent, authentic chix parm, pasta just a bit al dente. Girlfriend loved the rizzotto balls they served as an anti so much, she requested several be included in her penne dish, staff gladly accommodated the request. Ambiance warmed by motown and sinatra hits A++
Superb food and service. Some of the best Italian dishes I and my guests have ever had (and we're Italian). A real neat find in the hear of River North.
It was hot! Outside and inside. Eventho the temps were hot and steamy outside, they decided to leave front of restaurant open so no amount of air conditioning would be able to cool it off.
We had a reservation and they were at least 30 minutes behind.
The waiter left much to be desired however, the food was good and fairly priced.
Good, home-style Italian food at reasonable prices. A bit disappointing that the entrees require adding a side pasta, and your only pasta choice for a side is spaghetti. Waited over 30 minutes for our reserved table. Bar’s gin selection was weak. Service was too casual and slow - spent a lot of time being hungry, between the wait for the table, slow service, and a slow kitchen.
Excellent dinner for my husband’s birthday. All 5 of us really enjoyed our appetizers, meals and we split the butterscotch pie— incredible. They. even brought my husband a birthday dish of gelato with a candle.
Delicious. Great ambiance. Will definitely return
The food was spot on, the service was great and the atmosphere was nostalgic. I took my daughter for a pre concert dinner and her words were "This fettuccine has so much flavor and is the best I have had" I am already planning a date with my wife as it completely exceeded all of my expectations.
We loved our meal and the atmosphere in the restaurant. Service was great! Bartenders were exceptional!!
The food was delicious, the atmosphere was fun, and the music was great! I am definitely coming back.
Great food & super service. Another hit for Lettuce Entertain You.
This is one of my favorite places with excellent food. Love the ongoing music that is played. Must visit.
Another great meal and service at this great restaurant. Never can go wrong at this great Italian restaurant.
Alan, host, had greeted me and was able to seat me right away in the bar area. He certainly has the pulse of the restaurant. Elvira G, server, was very friendly and professional.
Overall, another incredible meal and service. I would recommend this restaurant and will return.
Great salad, good food and delicious garlic bread. Loved the atmosphere with the red and white tablecloths!
Old world atmosphere, excellent food, and top notch setvice make for a terrific experience. Only drawback is a wine list starting at $42 a bottle. There should be at least a few in the mid $20s to mid $30s range, particularly given food prices are moderate.
Excellent service, delicious wine and pasta. The butterscotch pie is a must have!
Family night deal is a rip off
We reserved last minute while visiting downtown Chicago. We were in the city celebrating our wedding anniversary. We will visit again.
We had a good visit to this restaurant! The only downside was our table was right at the back where the kitchen is so we felt like we were kinda in way of everyone. It also felt like the waiter forgot about our table. He did bring us a couple of things on the house which was a nice touch. The food was phenomenal and we definitely felt like what we got/what we paid for it was awesome for Chicago!! We would go back but ask for a booth instead. Overall, was a good experience!
The service we received the last time we dined at Il Porcellino was impeccable. The server was very knowledgeable on the entire food and drink menu - something you don't see too often. I got the special which was a squid ink pasta and I truly regret not bringing home leftovers. It was SO good. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce wasn't too heavy which made it a great Saturday night meal. I can't wait to go back again!
Our service was okay but nothing spectacular. She didn't check back on us much. While we initially loved the taste of our food, we found that my boyfriend's pork chop was wildly undercooked to the one side. We're not sure how much of it he ate and he's been okay for the most part, but it also didn't seem like much concern on the part of the restaurant when we brought it to their attention. Not coming back again.
We had reservations at 8:30 and didn’t get seated until 9. Thirsty and hungry, we waited for our first round of drinks for nearly 45 min. The cocktails are pretty standard but SUPER pricey. $16 for an old fashioned?! Then on top of that, our server wasn’t helpful w recommendations. The food was fine but with the subpar service and high prices, I wouldn’t go back.
This place was amazing as well as being incredibly affordable. We tried the Baratta Lasagna which was one of the beat things I've ever tasted in my life along with the beat chicken parm I've ever had...service was 2nd fo none.. our waitress, Ashway made our night with her impeccable service and amazing personality...as sooo as I make it back to Chicago, this will be my 1at stop for dinner.
Our server Dave made our experience exceptional! Went for our 48th Anniversary and he made it so memorable! Excellent food as usual and Salted Caramel Semifreddo he recommended was delicious! Also appreciated the champagne to celebrate. Definitely going back.
I went to il Porcellino with my fiance for my birthday dinner, and it was a great decision! As first timers to the restaurant, they gave us a couple of small bites to try. And as it was my birthday, they gave a lovely spumoni to me to help me celebrate. All the food was great, and they didn't rush us out despite how busy they were. Highly recommend!
Amazing service, fantastic food, and let's just say that I can't wait to come back!
Our server Sammy was amazing! So much personality and patience with our questions. Great knowledge of the menu. Fantastic recommendations! We will certainly be back!
