Great food and ambiance! Shrimp scampi was delicious and the cheesy bread! Only complaint is we had to wait about 15 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. Otherwise, perfect!
Excellent everything! Great service, spectacular food and wine.
Traveling to Chicago with family for Valentines Day and a weekend in the city. They didn’t have our table ready at the time of our reservation however they really took care of us. They brought out an appetizer while we waited and checked in multiple times while we waited. They also gave us a complimentary dessert. Food was great and the ambiance is fun and old school. Service is top notch. Food is tasty and we liked everything we ordered.
We went all out for Valentine’s Day! Their garlic bread was so soft, I would of liked a more garlic flavor. The calamari was delicious! We shared the filet mignonnwhich was cooked to perfection! Cannot wait to go back!
Very nice servers. Tasty food
Dim, romantic lighting + upbeat music. Interesting pairing, but it works well. The food isn't AMAZING, but it's like pretty damn good. I'd pay the same amount again for a slightly better experience (service, ambiance) - but it was Valentine's day and they were very busy so honestly I don't blame them.
Great service and was given free tastings throughout dinner. Gorgeous restaurant.
The food was tasty. Our waiter was very good. I would definitely go back.
Good restaurant, good food, beautifully designed. The food was very good, but not memorable. That said, the desserts were fantastic....the butterscotch pie and salted caramel ice cream with an amazing crust were both worth going there, just for the dessert
Average food. Quite below average service. No drinking straws to “reduce plastic waste”, but to-go desert had a plastic spoon which was wrapped in plastic.
Great place, good food and pretty atmosphere assnd a wonderful waiter.
NOT FOR FOODIES
Solo diner, here on business & this is walking distance to WESTIN CHICAGO RIVER NORTH location.
SUPER FRIENDY host/hostess, took time to get me familiar with menu.
GOOD waiter, not awesome.
Took 10 minutes to get water, 15 to get menu and restaurant was 30% full on a Monday night.
Kitchen sent complimentary order of 2 mini- arancini - FANTASTIC!!! That was 5 stars. Kitchen sent complimentary 2 super-tiny cubes of cheese (smaller than a pair of dice) with aged balsamic vinegar- FANTASTIC!!! Lovely surprise and super tasty. So I now have super high expectations on food level.
NOT FOR FOODIES/Caesar salad was forgettable. Not a great quality lettuce, lacking parmesan cheese, dressing was meh. 3 croutons, just OK.
NOT FOR FOODIES/Ordered baked SHRIMP. I asked the waiter before I ordered if pasta came with it - I truly thought he said yes. But apparently I heard him wrong because I'm sure he knows his menu, so I was bummed out not to have pasta. Shrimp was good, spinach was garlicky.
Food was good just not awesome enough, I wouldn't really recommend or return.... Unless you could order just that arancini!!! Actually I do wonder if the parm would have been better, based on the quality of the red sauce with the arancini.
Bottom line, life is so short, so many places to try in Chicago, I'd keep looking.
Love it,,, great food and super service.
Food was super delicious, they gave us some little "snacks" that were free and awesome too. DEF recommend checking this place out.
Likely one of the best Italian restaurants in the country. Bartenders (Daniel, Bistra, John) craft the most delicious cocktails. For a smallish bar, they hold a broad selection of amaros, rums, and whiskeys. Food is solid from the appetizers (brussel sprouts and clams porcellino) to the entres (chicken parmesan and spaghetti and meatballs) to the desserts (butterscotch pie and chocolate cake). Just go. You will have a most delightful experience.
Birthday Celebration yesterday was delicious! Kelsey, our waitress, made the night with her suggestions and John, the bartender, even made me a drink that he created on the spot from a few words of what I liked. You can't go wrote with Il Porcellino!
Server Byron was very nice and helpful, appreciated the complimentary bubbly and lemon cookies for our celebration!
We had to wait 45 min before getting seated and it was for a friend’s birthday so we were a little disappointed. Other than that we were very well taken care of and the food was delicious
Sooo good, food was delicious very tasty, personnel very attractive
Lasagna was excellent! Our server was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The host was friendly as well.
Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Excellent food.
We went for an early dinner. 4 adults and 2 toddlers. Our server couldn’t have been better. He brought the kids’ food out fast, offered them bread while they were waiting, just tried to make it as easy as possible for us. Food was delicious, large portions. We will definitely return.
Delicious food and beautiful ambiance. Great service as well. If you’re in the Chicago area I would highly recommend!
Pasta was overlooked, veal seemed to have been frozen for quite a while (quite tasteless). Only the service and wine was good.
I had a reservation for 7:45 and they didn’t seat us till an hour later. They made up for it a tad by giving us small portions of appetizers—however, it was a Wednesday, I made the reservation a week ahead of time and confirmed it the day before. Yet they still sat a party in the table I requested 30 minutes before my actual reservation.
Food was good but not exceptional. Pretty busy and loud. Wait staff very nice.
We had a wonderful night at il Porcellino. My only complaint is that it was obvious my dish must have been ready first (gnocchi bolognese) because it was only luke warm, and by the time I finished my dish it was cold. Everyone else's dish at the table was piping hot. I didn't mind much, though because it was that good. I ate every bite, and the gnocchi melts in your mouth. The atmosphere was excellent, and the music was perfect. I would come again, and bring even more friends in a heartbeat.
All our food was really high quality, classic italian dishes. The gnocchi specifically was to die for. Highly recommend!!
Good vibe, fun feel. Very, very good food. Would go again.
Very limited gluten free options. Great menu overall for others. The service was not great. But good enough to go back.
The food was absolutely amazing and I would for sure go back!
Loved our experience here. The lights on the ceiling combined with the brick wall and cozy space make for a wonderful, romantic ambiance. We got to sit at a high-top in the bar which we preferred - able to look over the tables and still be near the bar action. Our server was very dedicated and recommended things we truly enjoyed, including the Milano Mule & the delicious salted caramel semifreddo dessert. Their simple appetizer of Tuscan cheese bread was a star for our simple palettes. Delicious pasta too!
Great dining experience and superb service. Garlic bread is a must.
Wa seated in the bar area after making reservations on OpenTable 2 weeks ago. Kind of a joke they place customer's who make a reservation in the bar area. Other than that everything was great. Service was fast and friendly.
I went with a friend for their Restaurant Week menu. The food was wonderful! Our server was kind and friendly, he gave a great recommendation for a wine to have with my main course. I would definitely come here again!
We heard about this restaurant on the Steve Dahl podcast and decided to check it out after multiple recommendations. The food was amazing and the service was 5 Star. Great vibe, fun decor and the stuffed mushrooms and spicy broccoli were my favorites.
Delicious!! good choices on the menu. the garlic Loaf was really good-great crust.
The food was pretty good, though not enough to take home leftovers. The staff was great. My only issue was that I ended up with gum on my pants that someone stuck on the seat that I sat in. The manager offered to pay my dry cleaning which was kind.
Everything was great
Our entire dining experience, from start to finish, was excellent. Welcoming, nice ambiance, good music for those who like oldies (including us), neighborhood feel. Chris, our server, was outstanding, friendly, knowlegeable, down to earth.
Food and wine were delicious. Especially liked the orrecchiette. Will definitely be back again...and again...
