Il Pizzaiolo is excited to be opening in the former Tamari North location at 701 Warrendale Village Drive. We will be opening in Fall of 2015 and look forward to serving you!
Founded in1996 by Pittsburgh Native Ron Molinaro. Il Pizzaiolo started with a simple credo: create Neapolitan pizza using old-world techniques and the highest-quality ingredients available. Since then, his restaurants have become vibrant gathering places for lovers of Neapolitan pizza, pasta and Italian wine. Nearly everything on the menu is is hand-made. And if its not made in-house, its imported from the best artisans, cheese-makers and samurai in the world. Mozzarella di Bufala comes direct from Naples every Thursday and the pizzas are baked at 1000 degrees in a handcrafted, wood-fired brick oven for less than 90 seconds. This, along with perfectly leavened dough, San Marzano tomatoes and extra virgin olive oil, produces the most authentic Neapolitan pizza possible.

I would say the food is average, nothing to really write home about. If you're not a lover of sweet sauce I don't think you'll find the pizzas too appealing. There Mount Lebanon location is simply just better. The other reason for the low rating besides the average food was the very slow service. It was well out of the norm and certainly didn't improve our perspective of the restaurant. Haven't gone back since I don't plan on doing it anytime soon.
