Great pasta. The Tiramisu was wonderful.
What a surprise it was to enjoy a lovely dinner at a restaurant I had driven by hundreds of times without giving it a second look. It is a novel setting with delightful food and service. Due to the canopy and enclosure, it was like stepping into another world. Service was excellent and the owner made us feel very welcome. Great for a less than completely formal night out. Prices run high, but there were also a lot of reasonable dishes on the menu. The early evening crowd was a touch aged, but so am I. I will definitely repeat the experience.
One of our favorites. We are never disappointed by the food or the service.
I was really disappointed and had been looking forward to it for so long. I heard it was romantic, amazing food. We went and while the setting is nice, I think we were the only people under 55 there and I did not have a significant other half my age like the rest of the room. Hoping the food was going to make up for it, that feel short as well. I love a good lobster ravioli and mine was almost inedible.
The owner manager guy was really nice, and the setting was nice, but when we were handed a bill for $100 a person we were all thankful that we had a corporate card. In the end, we really wanted to like it, but won't be going back. Oh, if you're early or want to stay late, there is absolutely no where to stand and no bar.
Overprice ,not good service and rush to finish the dinner
menu contained a great many good dishes, too many to order at one time. Will have to go back for more selections.
Fantastic food in a warm friendly environment. The epitome of a "Neighborhood Gem"
Great dining in a warm friendly venue with attentive service.
I have been going there lately and was very happy til this time. I had invited several friends for birthday party. We were politely ignored.
No special treatment. At previous visits the owner gave us a rose and free dessert. It would have been nice at this special party.
I chose this restaurant because of previous special treatment.
The food was disappointing too. Most of us ordered the special and it was not up to par.
I will not be going back there anytime soon. Too many good restaurants avail.
Try the zuchini flowers and polenta appetizer - fantastic. Eat here regularly and have never had a bad experience. Great food and service, but pricey.
This is a gem of a restaurant! THey serve Italian food as it should be - fresh, flavorful but not heavy. We love eating here. Great with a group or for a romantic night out.
Deleioous dining in a warm & friendly venue with attentive service.
Always a delight to dine at Il Pastaio where the food is fabulous and the atmosphere warm and welcoming with very attentive and friendly service.
This is 3rd visit. I brought some friends who also enjoyed it.
The food is excellent and the waiters helpers are very good. Everyone is friendly.
It seems to be a regular crowd.
Delicious dinning in a welcoming venue with attentive service.
I have been to just about all of the restaurants in Los Angeles over the years.I have been to Napa, San Francisco, New York, Montreal and Italy......This was by far the worst food I have ever tasted. Then the price. Amazing.......I will pay $$$$ for a moderate to great meal. This was garbage!!!!
The worst Italian food that I have ever had and way over priced........I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. The only good thing was the server. She was charming and attentive and provided excellent service!
One of the best restaurants in LA. The food and service are superb. Energetic and Vibrant. Silvio is a fantastic host!
Always a delight to dine at Il Piccolino. The food is fresh, delicious and flavorful. Service is attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable.
A variety of items to chose from, which may be to much, but a great selection.
Food is very good, the only down side to the restaurant is the attitude of the owner/host of Il Piccolino.
Fantastic is what comes to mind for this wonderful restaurant. The food is outstanding and the service reminds me of the way restaurants use to be in the 1950's where restaurants use to take pride in service. You get what you pay for and the quality is obvious.
Food was a little over-priced for the size and quality. It was not bad; just not "wow" this was a really good. The menu is unique and has some creative thought. It could be argued that it might be a little too creative.
The food was great and authentic Italian. Great variety of fish options off the menu that are perfectly cooked and stuffed pasta containing beautifully subtle flavors.
excellent seafood appetizers, salads and entrees, and we love the enclosed patio dining with twinkling lights all round. its refreshing to dine in a place where the clientele includes both young couples and elegant seniors, all enjoying the experience with class, and without cell phones
The food at this restaurant is SUPERB! AMAZING! PHENOMENAL! SERIOUSLY tho... it's really great food. If you're a foodie n you haven't checked out Il Piccolino, you're missing out!
The waitress was a bit of a biyotch. MAJOR power trip, even though she had her 20% secured seeing as how we were a group of 8. It was odd, but most of the waitstaff are pretty stuck up and I continue to return because the food is just that good.
This restaurant never disappoints but be warned, it's on the pricey side!
Wonderful old fashioned services with excellent food and owners who are on top of everything to make sure the shows runs perfectly!
We had never been to this restaurant before, but had a great time. The flavors were spot on and the pasta was fabulous - perfectly prepared, not over sauced or oily. Compared to Scarpetta, we thought the pasta here was way better. Would have given it a 5 for food, however, the one chicken entree was slightly overcooked although the seasoning was excellent. The house wines were also excellent and at good prices. Definitely will return.
Delicious dining in a friendly environment with attentive staff.
Hadn't been to Il Piccolino in a number of years, and didn't realize it had been taken over by Silvio Mori, who always does a good job. However, and this is a big however, the prices have become astronomical! LA has any number of Italian restaurants (Mozza, Campanile, Il Fornaio, etc) where one can eat as well or better for substantially less.
Mr Mori's prices are more about exclusivity than quality, which is also the case--most flagrantly-with Giorgio's. At least the food at Il Piccolino is excellent, as opposed to Giorgio's where it's mediocre. By the way, if you have a craving for vitello tonnato, rarely found in this town, it's much better at Matteo's than here.
It is the essence of a neighborhood gem. I live walking distance from Il Piccolino as well as many other restaurants, for quality of food a professional and exceptionally friendly service, it is second to none! The fact that I can get in on busy nights is something that I like from a selfish perspective, but frankly, it shouldn't be that easy to get in. Il Picollino is terrific!
Silvio is a wonderful host who invites you into his home for a delightful dinner. He'll come sit at your table and make you feel like you're the most important person in the restaurant. The food, of course, is excellently prepared.
small portions which are way over priced
We have dined here several times, and thought the food was simple yet good. On our last visit we realized their prices had gone up drastically; we found no main entrees under $20.
We all agreed that although service is impeccable, the food is mediocre at best: I ordered a pasta dish which was overly salty, a friend had a spaghetti dish, was not drained properly and tasted of salty water. I would recommend Amalfi on La Brea instead.
Food was Ok. Very good service, but sat outside where I thought it smelled like cat...looked nicer inside.
The food was fine, nothing special, but tasty enough, just not worth the extra effort. We were seated in the outside covered patio, which needs an update. I was a bit disappointed after reading good reviews. Not enough bang for the buck.
Waitress was pushy as far as not giving us enough time to enjoy our cocktails. Sweating during the meal due to the heaters being on when it was too hot. Other patrons felt the same. Felt rushed even though our reservations were for 6 p.m. Delicious food.
First time here for an early dinner before theater downtown. Beat the traffic and enjoy marvelous food and their garden patio. The service was outstanding; extremely attentive and charming. The food was generously portioned, well prepared, delicious and enjoyable. Their gazpacho is the best I've ever had. Wines by the glass were acceptable. They have many special oven roasted fish entrees and my Alaskan salmon was great. Sit on the patio and be pampered by an owner and staff who knows how to treat its customers.
Lovely patio. Terrific service. The lobster ravioli is fantastic. We wanted a particular glass of wine that isn't normally offered by the glass. But the bartender gave it to us anyway. Much appreciated, though it was expensive. Lots of familiar faces from show biz eat here, but fortunately it's not the young celebrities that cause a scene. More of the successful behind-the-scenes folks.
