Il Piatto Ratings and Reviews
As usual, our dinner was special and delicious. There was, however, one exception: e.g., the zabaglione desert which I have had and loved in the past. It neither looked nor tasted like zabaglione...I sent it back and much enjoyed the roasted hot apple strudel!
We were able to reserve a table within late afternoon happy hours, so our wine and many of the dishes we chose were half price. Nice wine choices and tasty food. I had the pappardelle with beef ragu - there was more beef than pasta in the bowl, and both very delicious. I started with lovely beef carpaccio, seasoned the way I remember it from Italy. Others had the beet salad, also appreciated. Only downside - we were too full for dessert.
Visited Il Piatto a few times in the past 5 or so years. It was always good, but this time it was very good! The mushroom soup was rich and delicious - perfect for a cold winter night. Option for small portions is a big plus, providing the opportunity to taste more of the chef's tasty offerings!
We had a lovely NYE at Il Piatto in downtown Santa Fe. The food was terrific, with several vegetarian options. The atmosphere is perfect for a romantic dinner and VERY Santa Fe. Service was impeccable -- our waiter was very pleasant and attentive without being too intrusive. The food is a little pricey and although rich, the portions are quite small. Will definitely go back when my wallet recovers.
The evening was a delightful experience. The ambiance was warm and comfortable. Michael, our waiter immediately introduced himself to us and remained attentive through the evening. He proved himself knowledgeable in the wine and food selection. The scallop Rockefeller was delicious with kudos on the sauce. The Idaho trout was steamed with a beautiful texture of consistency, again interesting spicy sauce. All good was organic and the evening charming.
Our dinner at il Piatto was sublime, as always. I loved the special Mushroom Bisque, with local mushrooms. It was creamy and full of flavor. The carpaccio was excellent. And, I had a new entree, the Branzino and loved it. The service was excellent. I'm an regular at il Piatto and am never disappointed. Plus, the value is excellent. We dined during Happy Hour and got our appetizers at half price and a half order of our main courses.
Perfect Christmas Eve dinner. The service was great without being intrusive. We weren't rushed. The food was really good and they gave options for smaller portions. We loved the champagne and ambiance. We were given a two top by the window. It was cozy and somewhat quiet but happening. We have been here twice over a number of years and have loved it both times. Highly recommend.
Simple OUTSTANDING as always. Il Piatto is our favorite restaurant in Santa Fe, and of the best Italian restaurants we've ever eaten at. A great special occasion restaurant with farm-to-table and seasonal items. Their Four Cheese Lasagna and two types of raviolis (walnut and gorgonzola, and pumpkin) are fabulous!
Food was exceptional, as was the service from our waitperson Truett. However the service may have been a little too prompt. We had not finished our starters before the entrees arrived. We had requested very clearly that our after dinner espresso be decaf and were assured it was. However at 2 a.m. we were both wide awake and jittery. So imagine it was mixed up on the order.
Love the atmosphere here. It has a intimate almost European feel. The food is fresh and delicious with an extensive specials menu in addition to the main menu. Service and wine list are both excellent. We enjoyed the charred Romaine salad, the pumpkin ravioli, and the veal scaloppine with Marsala sauce. All were excellent.
The ambience was great. Low lights, quiet. I found both the bread and the dish that I ordered (trout) very salty. It was tasty, the mushrooms in it were excellent, but for my taste buds, the salt overpowered both the bread and the trout. My husband ordered the same and he didn’t mind the saltiness so...personal preferences. We ordered the half portions and they were quite small compared to half portions I’ve had in other restaurants. Our server was very pleasant. We ordered and shared the apple strudel dessert that was a special that evening and it was excellent and my regular coffee was good. My husband had decaf and said it was just so-so. Good decaf can be hard to come by. I would go there again for dessert but not for dinner.
5 Stars!!!! Everything was done to perfection. Food was absolutely delicious. We had the Pork Ribs and Beef Carpaccio for Appetizers and the Spaghetti Bolonese and Papardelle with Duck Stew for our Main Courses. The Tiramisu and Zabaglione were the icing on the cake for us. Service was informative and attentive. We WILL be back!
We enjoy eating here every time we visit Santa Fe. The service is impeccable and the food is 5 Star. We have unusual food allergies and they take the time to help us with food decisions that work within our requirements. They recheck with the chef and we have never had an issue or been disappointed. We were there in the winter and a lot of locals were eating there - always a good sign. Highly recommend.
Super wow. Il Piatto cements its place in my repertoire of favorites with another stellar meal. Consistent, surprisingly vegetarian friendly, outstanding service and a lovely ambiance. Really appreciate the variable plate sizes. LOVED the roasted cauliflower dish on my last visit (12-1-17). Just delicious -and it's Il Piatto's special ability to take something that sounds so simple and make it exceptional. The crispy eggplant parm is absolutely a dish I would want to have again. Our waiter was a gem- he had only been there 5 weeks and he was very attentive with excellent timing. A destination to be returned to or put on the list.
