This was our first time at Il Piatto. Our entire party loved the food, service, and quiet ambiance. We will definitely come back. Two of our favorite dishes were the pumpkin ravioli and the roasted chicken. We all liked the option of smaller or larger portions they offer. Highly recommended.

Fresh ingredients, great preparation, quiet and cozy atmosphere and a great wine selection made this a great dinner choice before heading to a show at the Lensic theater. Our waiter was a bit on the pretentious side, with the “what are we having” approach, but other than that all good!

Food was fabulous, but service was poor. Didn't have wine we desired from list, bussed tableware before first course was presented, waiter left for another commitment during our meal.

We’ve had lunch here several times and this was the first time for dinner. Excellent. We shared the ceasar salad and shared the seafood linguini. Coming from NJ, we miss the fresh fish and shellfish. The dish was excellent.

Veal Marsala was very light on the veal (more mushrooms than meat, I'm guessing about 2 oz of veal, maybe less), polenta was runny, overall flavor was bitter and quite garlicky, not very tasty at all. Wife's eggplant was ridiculously tiny too. Highly recommended bread pudding was average at best, but oddly bitter tasting too.

Overall, not impressed, even though it was highly recommended. Will not return.

A repeater...the entrees are original and complex in a good way. For example trout wrapped in procuitto and branzino a la picatta. I liked that smaller portions are available and the bread basket which is comp really popped. The EVO on the table was so smooth and rich. Outdoor dinning is available but it is off the street so sidewalk conversations "look y loos" are to be expected.

Bread pudding was burnt on edge and was slightly dry. It was a fair size though and a decent but weak flavor.
Zabaglione tasted like it had sat in the refidgerator for too long. It was too dense, sparse on the the fruit and nearly nonexistent balsamic sauce.
Service was terrible. Sat for 45 minutes to order even though there were waiters standing around and talking among themselves.

After several "fancy" Italian meals in Santa Fe, the more rustic italian farmhouse-style dishes at Il Piatto were a welcome change. Not that our meal was, in any sense, unfrefined, but it felt like the best restuarant in the Tuscan countryside at the end of a long day. Fresh pasta with seasonal vegetables, a "real" Ceasar salad (i.e. with fresh anchovies), and a grilled steak landed on our table along with a bottle of Tuscan red and delicious warm bread (house-made?), and made for a perfect chilly early-fall dinner. The service was friendly, maybe a bit too much so, but everyone loved their food and the ambiance, and we're looking forward to our return there soon. Best of all, you can order half-size portions, which were half=price before 6PM the night we were there.

It's warm, cozy and inviting. Arrived a little early and we were seated at the bar, were the service was great. We were shown to our table right on time. Sergio, our server was terrific. Food was excellent, likely the best meal of our long weekend in Santa Fe. The stuffed eggplant was a great vegetarian option for me, and a very delicious one. I believe the chef/owner has had this lovely restaurant for about 20 years, so he obviously knows what he's doing. But just an observation; many chefs like coming into the dining room to greet diners. This chef does come into the dining room but he just stands and watches the room. He doesn't greet any diners, he just watches. In fact he walked by a number of tables, including ours, without a hello or peep. And the problem for me was his perch for watching was very close to our table (near the end of the bar) made it uncomfortable. Maybe he's shy or maybe we wasn't feeling friendly the night we were there, but it was kind odd. But please give this great restaurant a try.

The food was very well prepared and the presentation was also very good. We would return here. One of the better restaurants in town. Small and not terribly attractive place but the food makes up for that.

Glad we tried this restaurant on Sunday evening. Lots of places are not open Sunday. Food was very good. Some entree options were seasonal, including acorn squash and butternut salad. Really made it seem like fall.

Overpriced, overpriced, overpriced. Great food. Crazy prices, meager portions. Three tiny bay scallops Rockefeller (appetizer) for $17? 1/2 a side of a fillet of trout for $24+?? Crazy. Never again.

Waiter tried to push wines on us.. Not happy with the whole experience. Our friends really disliked the dessert which had an acrid balsamic vinegar glaze on top. They didn't charge us.

For these prices, we'd prefer the Compound or elsewhere.

This restaurant was near our hotel, and we were in the mood for Italian. I was very pleased with the small portion size of pasta because it allowed my husband and I to get two dishes each and share. This really helped because everything sounded so good it was hard to decide what to order. The server recommended a bottle of wine, and we were both very pleased with his selection. We would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Italian food, and we would eat here again.

This was my favorite restaurant in Santa Fe. I have dined there multiple times over the last 6-7 years and am now very sad that the food quality has gone down so much. My favorite dish: duck ragoût with parpadelle was very desapointing. The ragoût was watery, not enough reduction time and had little flavor. The parpadelle were very over cooked.
My husband pork medallion were flavorless.
Maybe the chef has changed or it was an off night.

While on vacation in Santa Fe, we dined twice at Il Piatto. We had enjoyed our first dinner there so much, we came back a second night to explore other menu items we wanted to try. The early bird half price specials on wine and appetizers encouraged us to enjoy their wonderful appetizers and wine list.

We have had lunch here several times and always enjoyed it but 1st time for dinner. Salad was uninspired and tasteless so way overpriced for what it was. Veal Marsala pretty much the same. Probably should have ordered pasta . With so many other good choices in Santa Fe, we won't be back here.

I ordered the Seafood Linguine. The quantity, quality, and taste of the seafood was very good, as was the sauce. Unfortunately the amount of pasta served with it was less than you would find on a small tapas plate. Consequently, the dish was very out of balance, and not a good value for the $38 price.

My wife ordered the "Mary's Organic Roast Chicken". The same theme followed here in that the portion size was very small. In fact the discard pile (bones, fat, and skin) was larger than the edible pile. The food tasted good but nothing extraordinary.

We've been going to Il Piatto for years and it has always been wonderful. The food was, as always, exceptional. Our service was uncharacteristically poor, but this is Wine and Chile Festival week and they were quite busy, and perhaps understaffed. It remains one of our favorite Santa Fe restaurants.

We wanted to have a good meal our last night in Santa Fe. Il Piatto was the perfect choice. The grilled squid that my husband and I shared for an appetizer was excellent. It was perfectly grilled, tasty, and not chewy or rubbery at all. I had the pumpkin ravioli and my husband had the spaghetti bolognese. Both were tasty and the pastas perfectly cooked. We each enjoyed a nice glass of Montepulciano. We did not have dessert as we walked to get gelato.

Not a good experience. Waiter forgot to order our wine so our food came first. As our food grew cold the blame game started. Bartender blamed the waiter, waiter blamed the bartender and finally the wrong wine came. Unfortunately the quality of the food was poor. The Parmesan cheese on the salad was definitely not from Italy, the duck ragu was watery and did not include the mascarpone cheese mentioned on the menu. Go elsewhere.

Food was excellent and service was very good. Waiter failed to bring out our appetizer and admitted that it was his fault -- not the kitchen's. So, he offered to pay for our dessert! We did not permit him to do this but, we were impressed by his honesty and attempt to ensure that we were satisfied with our experience: integrity goes a long way with us! That restaurant is lucky to have such an employee! Ambiance delightful!
