This restaurant is permanently closed. Il Pescatore was founded in 1980 by three partners all of whom were of Tuscan origin. The original menu included classic Tuscan dishes, which are still on the menu today, such as Pasta della Casa, Veal Scallopine with mushrooms, and our signature Veal T-Bone with Rosemary (Lombata de Vitello al Rosmarino).

With the explosion of the Italian food and wine scene in the 1980’s, the menu expanded to represent dishes from numerous regions of the Italian peninsula. Risotto con funghi (Piemonte), Cannelloni alla Romana (Roma), Eggplant Parmigiana (Sicilia), and Fresh Fish Picatta (Napoli) are but a few of the regional dishes on our menu.

Our menu has been continuously evolving, and this year we introduced our own homemade Gelato and Sorbet.


Il Pescatore has been proudly serving the community of Oakland for over 32 years at Jack London Square and we have been blessed with many loyal customers over the years.

This was a great place for my siblings and I. The waiter was great paid attention to all of us. Made us feel at home. Gave us great pointer on the menu. We was having a mini family reunion

It was New Year's Eve, and Kendal was our waiter, he was very attentive, funny, and nice!! It was a slow evening at the restaurant.
Food was very good, truly enjoyed my meal.

Not as good as I remember. Visited Thursday before New Year's, hardly anyone there, so we easily got a Window table. One server, who took calls, seated you, made and served drinks besides taking your order. One very attentive busboy.

I have been to the restaurant in the past however I've found the prices to be quite high for the quality of the cuisine. The setting is lovely however so i would go back for drinks and appetizers.

We celebrated my mom"s 80th birthday and the staff decorated the table, sat us at a perfect table next to the water and treated us like kings and queens. The pasta dishes and salmon were the best dishes. Our veal was fantastic, tender and tasty but slightly cold. The desserts were amazing and we tried all of them. Tiramisu was the best I've ever tasted!

The restaurant was nearly empty at 815pm on a Friday night. The cocktails were very good and the food was excellent. The décor is a dated and service is friendly and old fashioned. For a restaurant named for fish, there were relatively few seafood dishes but the filet of sole is always one of my favorites.

What a hidden gem. With all of the new restaurants in JLSq, this veteran one continues to compete well. The outside looks a little tired, but the food and drinks (especially Cadillac Margaritas) inside are incredible. The service is wonderful, the food is delicious, the environment is comfortable, and the prices are just right. And, because it's JLSq's hidden little secret, it's usually easy to get in. If you're looking for the latest foo-foo, this is not your place. But if you want good tasting Italian food, prepared right, come to Pescatore's.

I was not happy. We were there to celebrate mybirthday and the
waiter did not acknowledge this not only was he rude he had the nerve to follow us after we paid the bill looking for more tip that is ilegal!! I would not recommend anyone to go there!!

I've been to this restaurant many times in the past and was extremely disappointed with this visit. Granted, I had a late reservation and is was a Thursday night. However, it was the most disappointing $150 dinner for two I've ever had in my dining experience. I would probably go back again sometime in the future, but I would NEVER recommend this restaurant to friend because of this last experience.

The food was so-so. My dish (smoked salmon with pasta) was good, but my husband's was bland (sole). The crustini had mexican salsa on it, rather than traditional italian tomato/basil. The service was not good. The host was very nice and attentive, but our waiter was a crusty older man that was more interested in watching the ball game and chit chatting with the bartender, than serving us. The restaurant is a diamond in the rough and could use a refresh--the led lights are horrible--if you use led lighting, you should at least get warm tones, than cool tones--as cool tones makes your food look unappetizing.

One of our all time favorite places to eat in Jack London Square. The staff are friendly and professional. The food is outstanding and the portions are hearty. The atmosphere is lovely and the view of the water is great. Forget the rest, enjoy the best.

We had a wonderful experience at Il Pescatore! The maitre d' made us feel welcome & important, seating us by a window overlooking the bay. Food was remarkable - authentic Italian delicacies - and service was marvelously attentive. They even split (and added to) a caesar salad for us to split. This is not a cheap place - a salad, 2 entrees, & coffee added up to about $75 without the tip - but it was a delightful date for my lovely wife and me. We will definitely return.

I use to come to this place often in the late 90s and early 2000s when travelling in the bay area for their authentic Italian cuisine and ambiance on the water. Sadly, everything we ordered was mediocre at best. The bruschetta lacked the vibrant flavors of freshness, the salads were okay and our shrimp on the pasta entree was way overcooked and chewy. I did not want to be disappointed with dessert. Service and ambiance was on point , but sadly we will not be returning here.

Our waiter was very attentive. The view is excellent. We ordered the calamari, penne al arrabbiata and the Salmon with tomatoes, peppers and mushrooms. The best dish was the arrabbiata. We thought both seafood dishes with a bit over cooked. But the pasta, fresh bread and wine were excellent. We'll be back for another special occasion.

With all of the amazing food here in the Bay Area, this was probably some of the worst Italian food i've had. Not sure why. Shrimp with mushrooms had been sitting the the sauce overcooking for a while. Pasta, marinara and veggies all lacked any seasoning. As other people have commented, service is good. Ambiance is nice. But they should get new menu, new cooks asap.

I really like this restaurant but it needs so much to take off. The food has been consistently good over decades but the decor is so tired and wanting. Beyond that it needs a "new" focus and menu. Staff is great, location is great, it just needs rejuvenation to become a roaring success.

I took our Thanksgiving family members to Jack London Square at one of my favorite haunts. The ambiance was warm and inviting. The service was over the top. The waiter's menu suggestions and helpfulness in answering diners' questions greatly helped in the ordering process. Moderately priced wines were excellent. Save room for their Tirramasu.

I have been going here for many years. Great location, good food and fabulous atmosphere. Waiters are very personalble, not mention genuine, not just because they have to be. Prices are a little expensive but given the quality of food and the location sometime play a factor in that.

Mid week ,only 1 waiter ,2 other couples seated. Waiter indifferent .Food came in timely manner. My veal tasted old and gritty .Pasta noodles cold, sauce was notch above cool. The only decent thing on plate was veggies. WILL NOT RETURN.

Classic Italian style comfort dining. Way overpriced but fun to sit in the harbor. Food was mediochre but the menu was extensive. Retro-ish atmosphere and service, nice, attentive wait staff.. Maybe ditch the bar TVs and put in red leather booths? I'd take my folks for the calm & walkability of Jack London Square but as a local....there's such a rich foodie culture here that $25 a plate should knock your socks off.

We could not have been more happy. We had a window table with a lovely view of the marina. The server was attentive with plenty of personality, but not intrusive. He made recommendations at our request and we're glad that we followed them. The food was perfectly prepared, the atmosphere is charming, and we couldn't have asked for better.

Il Pescatore was OK, all thing considered, and perfect for our 93-year old mother's birthday, but it isn't a place that folks under the age of 30-40 are likely to go. Too "old school" a la Sam's and Tadich's in San Francisco. Old menu, old waiters (no disrespect intended), old décor, etc. The waiters were GREAT with their service, attentiveness, attention to our mother - perhaps because they knew it was her birthday - but the place was virtually empty on a Thursday night and the food was only so-so. My sole (petrale) was WAAY too salty, but our mother loved her chicken dish and my wife liked her salmon dish, so maybe it is batting 667, which is way above average. The prices are a bit high for what you get, but not that bad in today's world and given the excellent service. I tipped pretty well for the service, not the food. The sides were pretty pedestrian - steamed vegetables and some tube pasta with some sort of orange sauce on it, but both very forgettable. I wouldn't go back without a senior who wants this sort of food and ambiance. If the restaurant wants to survive, I suggest that it liven itself up, change the menu (way too long and "heavy") and try to connect to the new vibe that lives in the Jack London area. There are a ton of new condos that have been built in the area and the restaurant has to address that. If it does, it might have another 50 years of life; if it doesn't, then curtains at some point in the near future. The view is GREAT. Lacking a change, I fear that the world will simply pass it by.

It's a beautiful spot, nice ambiance on rhe marina. But, not what it used to be. I came in and said we had a reservation, but it didn't matter because the place was nearly empty. So, they didn't bother to look it up and therefore didn't know that my reservation was for a birthday. No acknowledgment of that throughout the night. Food was good, but I will probably not return and will try other restaurants in Jack London Square.

If you love fine Italian cuisine, this is the place to enjoy that (in Oakland) in a beautiful setting. The service people are experienced and very congenial. The menu is extensive. I have never had a bad experience, nor a bad item. I only wish I had a lusher revenue stream to be able to go more often. A few years ago they had an Italian singer (classically trained) on weekend nights. That was very nice. I think that might still be a very nice feature (restaurants often nix singers and musicians because they want to maximize "table space"). But, listening to "O Sole Mio" and "Torna a Surriento" and "Core 'ngrato" (ah! "Core 'ngrato") while eating cioppino or cannelloni is such an exquisite experience. A female singer might be nice, too ("O mio babbino caro"). I learned about Italian cuisine in the restaurants of New York, and the East Coast (between Washington DC and Ongonquit Maine), from the 1950s to more recent times. The success of the experience depends a great deal on the attitude of the dining party. Il Pescatore does a fine job, it could always better, but what they do today is certainly enough for any gourmand (and family) to have an enjoyable time. Just don't come with a "budget minded" mentality. Portions are reasonable (not tiny, not ginormous). Wish I were there right now. Godere!
