Outstanding time with friends celebrating 2 birthdays.
A beautifully designed building of modern Italian architecture. The apps and entres were plentiful and outstanding. Good selection of specials to the menu. The halibut was outstanding. The deserts were excellent. The service was attentive.
Only comment from group was the filet was not as good as other entres. Over cooked and not tender.
Overall - Thumbs Up. One of the nicest restaurants in the area!!!
Per usual, the food was absolutely delicious. Although I was looking for a specific entree that was not on the menu, Liz and the kitchen staff were unbelievably accommodating in recreating the dish and it was phenomenal. Thank you so much for another great dining experience.
Can’t go wrong with the prix fixe $12.95
lunch menu. Great service too!
Excellent food and atmosphere. Service seemed a bit rushed but explainable for a busy Saturday night.
Excellent all around!
Sat upstairs from the bar, warm yet not overbiight atmosphere. Crispy asparagus appetizer was excellent. Entrees - a risotto dish and filet mignon - were cooked to perfection. Service was effective and not overbearing. Worth the visit and will be back.
Always dependable and delicious! Best lunch in town!
This is a chef-driven restaurant which is what makes it such fine dining. There are always some new dishes, changing with the season and ingredients. Every dish is well considered and prepared.
The dining rooms are lovely and festive. The staff is attentive. Go for a delicious dinner!
The food was very good, nice atmosphere and great service. Enjoyed it very much
Totally recommend to friends and coworkers. Have been there several times, and have never been disappointed.
A beautiful place to dine and the food is always delicious.
We had dined here several times before and were always impressed with all aspects of food, service and ambiance. Unfortunately, this last visit missed the mark on all three counts. My wife had a fish dish and the fish tasted "fishy" for lack of a better description. My son had a filet mignon and it had a broad ribbon of fat and I had a spaghetti dish that was non-descript. Our waiter was, for the most part, non-existent and inattentive. The noise level in the east dining room was deafening (mostly due to a party of six in the middle of the room who perhaps thought they were in a private setting). So, over all, things didn't go so well. We are not removing II Palio from a list, just moving it down a notches on the list of go-to venues.
Great food, great ambience, great service. Definitely we will be back.
Was there 15 years ago and place had not changed
Essentially, the real deal.... as authentic as it gets, down to a Sicilian waiter!
Amazing wine list and a real tight menu with only a few rock star offerings
A wonderful place and destination to return to once again
Wonderful place. Service was excellent as was the food. Will definitely go again.
Everything was delicious. Service (Justin ) exceptional!
We were celebrating our anniversary but it was not acknowledged by restaurant staff
Had a lovely time. Really enjoyed the evening. Nice place not rushed.
We had an amazing, relaxing, pleasing evening...good food, good, wine, good conversation may seem trite but this was this and so much more! I’ll be back!
We really enjoy the food and service at IlPalio and take all our important lunch dates there.
Service excellent. Advice from waitress on what to order was excellent. Food & value was excellent. An extremely pleasurable dinning experience.
A first class restaurant in a beautiful building on elegant grounds. The menu is thoughtful, and the food is well prepared. The service was very good. One of the few times we have left a restaurant thinking we would have been willing to pay more for the meal we just had.
Scallop appetizer was one of the best I've ever had
Chicken meal was excellent
Calamari & ny strip steak were average
Restaurant is slightly overpriced
Service was a little on the slow side but food was excellent.
The food was outstanding. Our server, Liz, was wonderful. We will return.
Lovely table by the fireplace, birthday dinner celebration for 3 of 4 in party.
Everything was lovely, however one of us ordered filet mignon and order it medium-rare. It came rare.
They quickly took away and while waiting brought a complimentary prosciutto platter!
The filet however was just not up to par, meat was tough and chewy and had gristle. After much deliberation my friend agreed to tell waiter about it.
They very nicely said they would remove her meal from the bill. Very unexpected but they did the right thing.
Everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their meals and the evening.
Would not let this experience keep us away!
In town from the Philly area, we decided to give I’ll Palio a try. Great restaurant. Wonderful, tasteful decor, delicious, we’ll prepared food and friendly, helpful staff made this a terrific choice. We attended a birthday party the following day with local family and couldn’t wait to tell them to check Il Palio out for a fine dining experience.
Excellent food, lovely venue. Good value. A little slow in the beginning. A little noisy. Overall excellent dining experience
Wonderful food and drink for my Dad’s birthday!! We will be back.
Always a great meal....great ambiance and service in a cozy setting on a cold winter night. The filet and gnocchi special were both amazing.
My wife and I eat out quite a bit, probably 80 times a year for the past 20 years or so. This includes stints lilving in London, Shanghai and Singapore. When at home in Connecticut I look to places in Fairfield and Westport as well as NYC. I had a friend from Asia staying in Shelton for a business trip and started researching restos in the area which is how we ended up at Il Palio.
We had a weekday dinner and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and service. My wife had the the roasted Salmon, a generous portion and perfectly done rare. I tried a bite, excellent. Our guest had some simple spaghettini with Bolognese sauce having flown in from Hong Kong the previous evening. I had the tuna tartare starter, served on a bed of avocado, seasoned and dressed. OMG! Followed by Pollo Scarpariello which was super tasty. Dessert followed. Oh yeah, Barbera by the glass is always a winnner for me. Pricing, when you account for the quality of the food and service, was very reasonable. Seeing how it was a Tuesday night and the kitchen and staff put on a quality meal, this restaurant gets my recommendation.
Food was good but my husband ordered a salad and I ordered a cappuccino and we never got it.
Went to Il Palio before Center stage production. Service was fantastic! We had Lasagna and also the Halibut. Delicious and both prepared to perfection. We highly recommend it! Top notch!!
Everything about Il Palio is the best. The staff is very attentive and Cliff will do anything to make you feel at home. Margherita's food is absolutely delicious. This will always be my favorite place to go to!
As always, Margherita and her staff do an amazing job offering fresh, delicious options. For a special occasion or just a nice night out, Il Palio is the best in the area. Service is exceptional!
If I could give more than 5 stars for food quality, I would. Excellent as always!
Lovely atmosphere, but I found the food to be mediocre and the prices to be high.
Great lunch today! Nunzio maitre D authentic Italiano! Justin our server was very wine saavy pairing my wine with each course. Chef northern Italian cuisine very unique for this area! First time here won't be the last! Ciao
Great restaurant, very nice atmosphere. We regularly eat here when we are looking for something special
The food is always outstanding but we had a horrible waiter. A blonde kid, don’t remember his name. It was Valentines day so understandably busy. However, it took him forever to come over. We had menus but no wine list. Get the wine and he comes over and without a word, takes away our menus....we hadn’t ordered. We get him to bring the menus back and he asks if we want appetizers. I order mine and he walks away before my boyfriend orders his. Get him back again and he apologizes. We ask for bread. He turns to the busboy and speaks in Spanish and asks him to get us bread. The busboy looked at him not understanding what he said. He didn’t speak Spanish.... get our appetizers but he’s no where to be found to order our entrees.
The people next to us were also having issues with him.
Highly recommend for food and atmosphere but run if a young blond waiter comes to your table.
