Il Mulino New York - Uptown
There’s no place like Il Mulino New York. The luxury Italian restaurant’s flagship Greenwich Village outpost initiated New York’s fine Italian dining trend and is still prized in the city’s elite dining scene. Zagat has rated Il Mulino New York as Manhattan’s No. 1 Italian restaurant for decades and has said the restaurant provides "one-of-a-kind" cuisine filled with delicious flavors, creating an "outstanding Italian classic" restaurant where "every dish is a masterpiece."
Executive Chef Michele Mazza, who hails from Naples, Italy, has proudly carried this tradition since 2003. Fresh ingredients, artistic preparation and impeccable service distinguish Il Mulino New York as one of the world’s premiere restaurants. In addition to fine dining, Il Mulino New York provides excellent off-site catering and products.

The restaurant was nice and the food was tasty. It’s really dark in the restaurant. Everyone needed to use their phone flashlights to read the menu. It was so dark that it was hard to see the food on your plate to know exactly what each bite consisted of.
I enjoyed the salmon. They were out of the beer I ordered. For the price of the place, they shouldn’t be out of anything.
When I got the bill, I was surprised by two different lines for tipping. There was a regular tip and captain’s tip. That threw me off. I do entertaining at nice places for work all the time and I’ve never seen that before.
Overall, the food was delicious and the staff was friendly. It was pretty expensive though…
Pasta was over cooked. The sauces not high quality as had once been. Lettuce was brown at edges on Caesar salad. Eggplant parmigiana mediocre. Very disappointing. Have dined here for many years. Will not be going back.
Restaurant smelled like moth balls and then they tried to cover the smell by sautéing garlic and rosemary in the front of the restaurant and it made the smell worse. Food was sub-par. Mozzarella too cold it was slightly frozen in the center.
The food was absolutely delicious and the service was perfect. They start you with a plate of appetizers like bruschetta, focaccia, Parmesan Reggiano, etc. We had the Restaurant Week menu which was an excellent value. They asked if we were here for that and provided a menu with more choices than many other restaurants have for the promotion. Our waiter, Ricardo, was right on top of everything and made us feel very welcome. There was a very sweet woman from the bar who checked on us several times and gave us homemade limoncello. I didn’t get her name but she was so nice. All the staff were and they helped me with some mobility issues. As for the food, the portions were plentiful (we had leftovers) and everything had a very clean, homemade taste. We both had veal (2 different dishes) and we both found it could be cut with the fork. It was that excellent quality, whiter veal that is flavorful and tender. Appetizers were burrata with watermelon and shrimp. Both were great. You choose how much olive oil and pepper is used. I really enjoyed the flavor of the perfectly ripe watermelon with the burrata which surprised me. I’m not overly adventurous with food. We ended with tiramisu and lemon sorbet. Great way to end a tasty meal. For both experience and food we would happily return, even without a promotion!
Absolutely the best restaurant ever!! The service, food and overall experience was amazing. Thanks so much!!!
Wonderful restaurant. I think, though, that they should enforce a dress code.
They said they do not honer restaurant week
I made a reservation with you for resturant week and they said they do not participate in it for diner
Great service and amazing food. Really enjoyed it.
Just right pasta and truffle was great!
expensive...but worth everydime!
Special place...never disappointed
The service was wonderful and the food.
Service was impeccable, food was delicious. Prices were insane. For example, we paid $30 for sparkling water. This is still our favorite place to eat in the city. I know prices are inflated right now, so we are happy to support them. Quality restaurant.
Everything was wonderful
The most amazing Italian food in New York.
great ambiance and attentive service. always a great time here
Awesome recommendation by the waiter on the specials, which we selected. We selected this restaurant based on Open Table rating and it was right on. We would definitely return on our next trip to the City.
Great restaurant! I have eaten at many restaurants
in New York and this one does not disappoint! They start With a chunk of Parmesan cheese and bruschetta as soon as you sit down. So good!
My absolute favorite spot in the City!!
The problem was with the linguine and white clam sauce. It was made with basil not parsley. The basil imported a bitter taste of the sweet clams. The baked clams oreganata we’re quite good.
The music was much too loud and we had to ask a number of times to have it made softer. We couldn’t even hear each other speak at the same table with the music being so loud. However it’s worth another try.
Great food and service in beautiful restaurant!
Always has been a favorite of ours and we make it a priority to dine at in the city. Food was mediocre and prices have increase significantly. No longer a favorite unfortunately
Food is spectacular however the hospitality is a bit more hostile than warm. Will return for lunch prix fixe and will never make the mistake of ordering a gin martini at the bar again, it was warm and $25.
It was somewhat of a disappointment, the food was very standard service not so great
The most amazing food with the most amazing service! Bravo!!
My only complaint were the dirty bathrooms. Otherwise great experience!
A noisy, boisterous room. Shoulder to shoulder at the bar. Very crowded! In this day and age of COVID, I was surprised that they allowed a capacity crowd in such a small space. People and waiters bumping up against our table, could not hear the waiter speak to us. Could not speak to each other! Husband liked his dish. I ordered the lobster pasta special. The lobster was over cooked and the dish cost $56.00. We will not be back soon.
The place is very cramp and very noisy. Food and service are ok but not great. The restaurant staffs seem to be quite
Impatience. I will not visit this restaurant again.
A lively, fun restaurant with friendly staff and the food was Delicious .
Fantastic food and exceptional service. We loved our evening spent at Il Mulino!
Food was awesome!! We ate at the bar…. Wonderful experience! Highly recommend!
Best veal chop ever, not offered in many restaurants .
Excellent every time!!! Love it here❤️
The food was very good. Our waiter wasn’t really wearing his mask properly while all the others were wearing masks properly. Finally they gave us another waiter.
Second problem: we came a little early for our reservation and they pushed us and hung over us to try to get us to order and eat ASAP. Very uncomfortable.
Our past experiences at Il Mulino have been pleasant, in fact, we walked in without a reservation for our anniversary in 2019 at the height of dinner and they immediately gave us a table. One other time for lunch they were so full they went so far as to bring in a table from outside so we could eat lunch inside. Again, we didn’t have a reservation.
Just disappointed last night. The manager seemed uncaring, however the maskless waiter did start to wear his mask when taking care of other people.
La peor actitud de todos y en especial del gerente y uno de los meseros
I want to recognize the service team at Il Mulino for the great service and attention they gave us. The foods including the desserts were delicious.
Thanks to Ricardo and his colleagues, we had a great time.
Food was amazing. Loved the attention to detail. One of my favs when visiting NYC.
Amazing! We come here every time we are in NYC! Never fails us!
First the manager was rudehe let us set in the last table, then the head of staff was very rude at the end they shouted they want more tips
Friends visiting from london
This was by far the most memorable experience!!Delicious..
