Trattoria IL Mulino is an Italian restaurant in Atlantic City. This is a casual dining establishment with a hint of elegance and a sophisticated vibe. Ambient lighting gives the dining room a cozy feel that's great for a quiet conversation and a glass of fine wine. There is plenty of charm in the restaurant with its dark natural wood furniture and rough stone tiles walls.
Cuisine served at Trattoria IL Mulino follows classic Italian recipes with fresh, flavorful ingredients. Bread appetizers are served before the meal, and guests can choose from a yummy selection of antipasti (appetizers) before the main entrees arrive. Try the succulent stuffed veal chops, chicken parmigiana or the roasted salmon. Trattoria IL Mulino also serves from a great choice of domestic and international beers, wines and cocktails.
Another great experience with my sisters..the server LINDA who I previously called Peggy (to which she graciously answered)was once again amazing. So friendly and my experience there never seems rushed which is what adds to the great food. Hoping the Taj remains/reopens and Il Mulino remains a staple for them as it will for me.
food was very good. A little pricey. Service was excellent
Resturant is closing in two weeks. I f not sooner.
Extremely noisy. Very poor service. Dropped food and left. No follow up. Portions were very small for the prices charged. Would not recommend or return. This restaurant seemed to not care because he Taj is closing in October. Manager never came over to check On us with all the complaints we made. A very bad dinner service for what was supposed to be a birthday celebration for a very good friend. Most embarrassing.
AMAZING DINNER...STAFF ACCOMMODATED OUR EARLY ARRIVAL, SERVICE NOT AT ALL RUSHED SO WE WERE ABLE TO ENJOY OUR WINE, TALK AND EAT WITHOUT PRESSURE. PEGGY IS THE BEST; OUR SECOND TIME WITH HER AND WILL REQUEST HER WHEN WE RETURN LABOR DAY WEEKEND. GNOCCHI BOLOGNESE WAS FANTASTIC, THE FEE ZUCCHINI CHIPS APP TO DIE FOR. LABOR DAY CAN'T GET HERE SOON ENOUGH. THANK YOU!!!
The veal picata did not have peas in it. The portion was small but very very tasty. I have been there before and ordered chicken picata which they don't serve anymore. The rigatoni was excellent. Everything I ever ordered there was excellent, except now the portions are smaller.
The food is excellent but the noise is overbearing. We ate early to get a little quite but the lucky ones had hearing aids the could turn off. Next time we go to Manhatten.
Food was excellent, service was extremely professional, and all the waiters kept coming over
to check on us. Overall, a great experience.
I liked the upscale/relaxed feel of this place. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The "prix fixe" menu with antipasti, entree and dessert for one price was a good option. The Salmon Livornese was different and very tasty. Service was well-timed and friendly.
Initially disappointed not being able to get into the main restaurant since it's one of our favorite places. We were seated near the open kitchen in the back, (almost like being at a chef's table!) service was awesome, food-delicious & a fabulous nite w/ our favorite bottle of Classico Chianti. We started w/ an anti-pasta & gnocchi bolognese. Then we enjoyed stuffed shrimp (huge, only ate 2, had the rest for dinner the next nite) & hubby had the fettuccini Alfredo. Before you roll your eyes, it was made w/ black truffles, to die for! I could have gave the pasta chef some competition w/ his gnocchi, mine are more tender....😊
A great nite! We'll definitely be back!!!
Price Fix menu was great for us.
We had the Caesar salads. The salad was larger than I expected for a price fix one. The dressing was tasty and in proper moderation.
We each had cocktails with our salads (Bellini and Tratorosa(sp) ) I was enthralled with the Tratorosa!
The bread basket had 3 soft squares were delicious and had a complex flavor I can't put into words. The other bread didn't look as interesting so we didn't try it.
The veal picatta was fork tender. The sauce had the best flavor ever...it was a good strong flavor!
The Salmon Livornese was the moistest I ever had! The Livornese sauce was delicately flavored.
We each had a glass of wine from the large "wine by the glass " menu...a nice Zinfandel and a nice Malbec
We got the desserts to go and can't wait to dive in!
A great evening!
Food was wonderful. The gnocchi with bolognese was spectacular. Prices for the casual side of dining could have been a little less expensive. Service was a little slow considering only half the dining room was full and there were two servers covering each table. The wine options were nice and worth the cost only if you are purchasing by the bottle. Wait staff was pushy about purchasing alcohol, and left us feeling a little uncomfortable about not purchasing more than we did. Dessert was tasty but not memorable. We'd give the tiramisu a 5 out of 10 and the mango sorbet a 7 out of 10. Definitely worth a one time experience because the pasta was delicious.
Good place to stop by to get a small bite to eat, fairly priced. My original plate wasn't appetizing at all, I actually noticed my chicken was a little over cooked. Working in the restaurant industry "both my partner and I" we tend to pick up on things right away. But we told our server that I wasn't happy with my plate and less than 3 minutes later I had a new one. Only thing I have to say I really disliked was that it was extremely hot in there. To the point where my 3 month old started to get frustrated because he was hot and sweating, we tried to enjoy everything on our plates but the heat was getting to us and we were trying to get out of there as fast as we could. But overall I think we will be returning. "If the AC gets fixed" lol
Excellent food and service every time! We always enjoy dinner here before a show.
Food was great, ambiance and waitstaff!! Def be back next time I'm in AC.
Was at Il mulino New York 2 wks prior. It is obvious that the two restaurant being side by side and connected by a hallway, use the same kitchen. They must have two separate chefs because although we ordered basically the same meal, it wasn't as good. The service was not great either, It seemed the the staff was pretty stretched out.
Some of the entrees were huge and loved it but then some were alot smaller. Overall a great place for dinner in Taj Mahal.
We picked this place for a pre-theater dinner. Surprisingly, our reservation was checked twice, by a girl with PC at the entrance and by another girl at the next crowded post equipped with another computer. Food was much below our expectations: Calamari piccante ordered by my wife was too heavily breaded and overly dry. My order of oysters was "forgotten". When they finally arrived with two sauces, I had to catch our waiter to ask for a spoon that was missing (the oysters were ok). He could not find a tea spoon and offered a table one. In fact, in the course of the diner we were served by several accidentally available waiters passing nearby who could hear us. Linguine with clam sauce was dressed with a kind of a broth, like Chinese noodles, but supplemented with burned garlic. And, of course, nobody offered me some parmesan for my pasta. The whole place is very noisy because it serves as a passing corridor for serving the main restaurant behind the wall. They all run and run around in terrible rush. This was the least pleasant dinner we had this year. Avoid this place.
The food, service and atmosphere were very good. We had appetizers and drinks during Happy Hour. It was inexpensive and the food was excellent.
Food is always outstanding! Service was very friendly & prompt. We look forward to returning very soon. I love the veal. The wine was good & I really enjoy the fresh whipped cream on the desserts. My wife loves the pasta dishes. My son had the pasta with spicy crab & loved it. Staff was very happy to sing happy birthday to my son's girlfriend.
Good quality food in a relaxed attmosphere. Service always great. Salmon was tasty. Complimentary appetizer.
I've eaten here several times and the food continues to be outstanding. Service however is another issue...it was inattentive, perhaps the waiter was new at his job...but this not the first time that service was underwhelming here. The restaurant was not crowded so ther really wasn't a capacity issue. But then service at Il Mulino was also not that great.
The food and service was exceptional. The staff was very helpful and considerate to one of our family members who is handicapped.
very pricey , entrees came with nothing else on plate. we got the "special" desert sampler which we were not informed of the price which was more then double the regular options. for over $100 per person without drinks was a bit much. food was tasty and good just not for the price
Our server was not paying attention to us. Food was not what we're expecting, salad was too salty, never taste a salad like that before, main course was salty too. Veal parmigiana looks like a pizza and taste different. We have to asked a couple of times for butter. I never got my honey for the tea.i was so disappointed with everything.
Pasta was delicious! Veal pretty good. Salad tasted overly salty. My wife and I enjoyed the Valentine's Day dining experience.
This was our first time here, and having seen that there are two sides to the restaurant, the casual versus the elegant side, I think had I known in advance, we might have gone to the elegant side and dressed accordingly. It looked like a warmer and more romantic atmosphere.
I love the Il Mulino in New York. food is always great but the one in Atlantic City food was a little off. I don't know exactly what was wrong with it but I wasn't as happy with the food as I was in one in New York.
My wife and I have eaten here before, and will again, the service was perfect, the meal was awesome, friendly, nice ambiance, you will enjoy yourself
Our dining experience was superb. The wait staff was so attentive and I especially liked the way the staff helped one another
I don't know what you do to these Italian dishes , but whatever it is you do it well . It always leaves me with a delightful memory begging to come back for more . My regards to Alex , although he was very busy he always does a wonderful job . See you again during my next visit .
Food was good, nothing special. we were attending a concert. It took two hours and we didn"t have enough time for coffee or desert. There were apologies but made no effort to win me back.
Have been to both sides of this restaurant previously and will not return to this side. Food was just ok - nothing great and expensive, even for AC standards. Wine list was ridiculous. Cheapest bottle of white wine was $48. Over Priced!!! Barely had a sip of the wine and our main dish showed up. Poor service.
If you are in Atlantic City and want to have dinner in a classy, romantic but also casual place where the service is excellent and food is outstanding, you should definitely go to Trattoria il Mulino, inside the Taj Mahal Casino & Resort hotel. I cannot find a single thing to complain. Everything was amazingly good. My husband had the spaghetti with meatballs and I had an incredible fish with crab meat and a side of spinach. The portion was more than enough, I even couldn't eat everything... sadly. For dessert, do not forget to try the tiramisu, is pure heaven. The waiter was very polite and everybody is really nice. We sent our compliments to the chef, who is for sure one of the best in US. It was the strongest point of our stay in Atlantic City, and I am glad we had gone there. Believe me, I am very "picky", I would not say a word if were not true. Price is decent too. Do not go to fast food, go to real food made by a real cook!
Our server, David, and staff made for a very enjoyable evening. It started with David making an excellNt new wine recommendation and the attention to detail that the whole staff including the manager provided. The food, as usual, was delicious and the welcoming feeling of the team made for a great night.
I them 5 stArs Bc they always do a great job at the fine dining. This time there the fine dining side was closed which was very disappointing. But they made up for it by offering the same menu options.
Amazing place brought hubby here for his birthday and we both enjoyed our meals a little over priced but absolutely worth every penny. Love the atmosphere, first time on the casual side, actually booked online for the other side was a little disappointed when I was told I had booked the wrong side but nonetheless he enjoyed it so that made me happy! Love it
"You get what you pay for " Best lamb chops my wife has ever eaten :)
we'll be back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reasonably well-prepared conventional Italian and outstanding service at absurdly outrageous prices.
Wonderful meal for Restaurant week but this place is always good. Service was phenomenal. You just don't find this kind of service around any more. Food was delicious. Variety was great. Whether your looking for a full coarse meal or something light Il Mollino is the place. We have been going back year after year and have never been disappointed.
good food , pleasant staff great value. It was restaurant week and i thing it was well done
