Il Mulino New York - South Beach Ratings and Reviews
This gem is an absolute must! We savored the 3-course lunch special and it was not only a great value but also such an enjoyable experience! As other reviewers have said, service is excellent, the decor is stylish and modern yet casual and inviting, and the food is unsurpassed. Before we were even given menus, we were greeted by a server offering chunks of Reggiano Parmesan from a huge rind; soon after, a bowl of mandoline-sliced and lightly fried zucchini appeared, along with individual servings of fresh tomato bruschetta and 3 choices of Italian breads with olive oil and wonderfully syrupy balsamic.
Our 3-course lunch allowed for many (~6-8) choices from each category of starter, main, and 2 dessert options. The 3 of us enjoyed a fresh tomato salad, porcini ravioli in a walnut cream sauce, and capellini pomodoro. Pasta was prepared nearby on a portable table; the pasta was perfectly al dente and portions were dinner-sized generous--I had to take home half of my capellini. Main course: steak was perfectly cooked rare, salmon was on a bed of spinach, and the branzino was the winner-- huge filet grilled and topped with a lemon caper butter sauce. Dessert: cheesecake or tiramisu-- both light and elegant.
As if this weren't generous enough, we were presented with home-made limoncello-- the perfect cap to a perfect lunch. Only negative would be the very pricey wine list-- our moderate Rose was $80. Regardless, I highly recommend you savor this very special place.
This new location is awesome. The decor, service and food were spectacular. It is expensive, but definitely worth it. We took a relative for a special occasion and we were all very pleased. It was the best service that we had at a restaurant in years.
Try this IL Mulino -South Beach, you will love it.
I'm a big fan of Il Mulino. I've been to a lot of them, but it was my first time at South Beach. It's a small place, in a very nice area of SoBe. The attention is superb, and the food is extraordinary. It's consistent with the rest. Great experience overall.
This is one dreamy gem. The best restaurant ever. The pasta is cooked to perfection, the restaurant is super clean and looks spectacular and super cozy. The service is always outstanding. The food is consistent and always perfect. This is our number one favorite place for dinner. WE love it every time. Thank you Il Mulino for always being the best.
The food was delicious and the service was outstanding! I was so happy to see that Il Mulino extended their participation in Miami Spice!! It was a great way to taste their food! They served delicious paper thin fried zucchini on the house!! The caprese salad was very tasty and the chicken was juicy and tender and the tiramisu was much better than the cheesecake! Both are good choices. I can't wait to return to Il Mulino!
This is not an eat and run place. Plan on superb food, attentive but not overbearing service, They start you with complimentary appatizers which gives you plenty of time to have a drink while you study the menu. Careful, they are delecious but you don't want to spoil the dinner! Make sure you save room for desert.
I've been to many Il Mulino locations and this was by far the most disappointing. It was a 'pickup' vibe from what we were could see seated near a window by the bar. The host was more into 70s disco music and chatting and the professional vibe seemed to have been lost. Our server made every effort even though we were at a 'forgotten' table and the food was typical wonderful Il Mulino. Food was the saving grace.
We have eaten here many times and it is always good. This time we dined for lunch and had the Miami Spice Menu. Very good. They also have some of the best service in Miami and it's always a pleasure to eat here. The decor is so refreshing and the food is presented beautifully.
My girlfriend knows the owners of IL Mulino so we expected a great dining experience! To the contrary, our waiter was too busy trying to impress us with his tri- lingual approach. Then he became a salesman and suggested I impress my girlfriend by ordering 10 oysters instead of 3 from the Spice Menu! I spent $72 between 10 oysters and Risotto De Mare! Are you kidding? Guess what, my Risotto (that I make is better). Very sad for you! Anyway, the good spot was our asst waiter (a lady) was very refreshing and kind! The Host was a nice man as well! Will not be coming back!!!!!
