Il Mulino New York - Long Island Ratings and Reviews
Not what it used to be. This restaurant maintains none of its former quality, while still charging astronomical (for Long Island) prices. My risotto was severely overcooked, while my wife’s fish was full of bones. To make matters worse, they presented her whole fish at the table, prior to allegedly filleting it. Unfortunately, they returned with her filet within 30 seconds. No one could filet and present a piece of fish that quickly. I honestly found the charade to be insulting. We’ve eaten here a number of times in the past. We won’t be returning. There is much better quality, for the money, at other Long Island restaurants.
Please don’t offer lemoncello to the table next to us without asking us as well. We have dined here many times and feel the service just was not on par with the usually stellar service we’ve received in the past. Disappointing experience.
Been here many times over the years. I used to visit the original Manhattan restaurant. The original was more expensive but the it was worth every penny. Our food was fair, our service was fair. There was nothing to really speak about, we could have gone to any Italian restaurant in the area and had food of equal or better quality for half the cost. $17.00 & $19.00 for a drink, and Ok service , you can keep this place.
The meal was great until dessert. That is when the server gave my wife a dessert with nuts after we explained her allergy three times VERY clearly. We spoke to the manager who offered to take care of us NEXT time. They should have done more for a $300+ dinner where my wife would have been in the hospital. There won’t be a “next time”
This time around the service was poor, and the seating odd (next to waiter computer - and staff kept reaching over us to grab wine glasses and decanters). Head waiter did come over to offer a half-apology, and café on them, but then of course we were charge for such! But food was still good...just be careful where you sit, and don't expect any mistakes to be taken care of.
Lovely restaurant and authentic Italian elegant cuisine.
The lighting was a bit dim. I could not see my food or the menu fully.
They took the romantic aura a bit too far.
Fabulous service and the best pasta that I ever had -- better
than the one in the City even.
Il Mulino has always been a fave going back 20 years or more to their Village location. Last night had Shrimp Fra Diavolo. Good, of course, but not up to their usual every bite a delight. Caesar salad just mediocre. Going in reverse order, free apps were outstanding. As was service.
Big Disappointment - went with the family, kids in their 20
s, the oil was oozing out of the free cruidites, the chicken breast w salad was bland, caesar salad was yucky, and the food was nothing special , no one loved their meal and it was expensive. Also, relatively quick meal, everything came fast, for that kind of money, they could have slowed down and let us dine, but we were all happy to leave
Worst of the worst. If you are not 65 years old or older or known by the waiters or at staff be prepared to be treated like crap. A hair in our food and our response is shrugged shoulders because I guess we aren't regulars or don't look like we belong. Never coming back again. Don't waste your time. Food however is awesome. Would rather go to the one in the city...
Il Mulino never fails to please. Although it is pricey, the cuisine is spectacular, the service impeccable. It can become a bit loud on a Saturday evening. Highly recommend the rack of lamb... a half rack is plenty even for a large appetite. The osso bucco is beyond, beyond. The wine list is comprehensive. Even the dessert was wonderful.
This was the first time having the Thursday night Seafood menu. Pros: good bread, branzino and dessert sampling. Cons: the servers flocked to our table like a swarm of buzzards. The trays missed my head by inches. It was not crowded at 7:30 PM and there were more servers than patrons. We barely sat down and our server asked us what we wanted to drink. I said we need to see the wine list. They come at you all at once with the bread tray, bruschetta, zucchini and cheese. This is a far cry from fine dining. The appetizers of calamari with salad and lobster ravioli were both average. My husband said the ravioli were gummy. Seafood in broth was a big nothing too. Assumed it came with squid ink linguini in a red sauce. The side veggies consisted of 3 spears of asparagus and a few boiled potatoes. Very average at best. This meal in no way compared to the first 2 times we were here. First having the regular menu and the 2nd time, the Sunday Supper. We both agreed that we were not thrilled with the whole experience and not quick to return. And of course you need a flashlight to read the menu. This restaurant is not romantic, it's just dark for no reason. Worth $49 per person and not a penny more.
I was there this past week and while the food was great everyone in our party of 5 felt that every time one of us asked for something we felt like we were bothering them. The service was not attentive at all. This is a well rated and very expensive restaurant. And while the food was delicious the service was not up to par
This was our second time dinning at this restaurant. The Hostass sat us at a very nice table which we requested ( A big Thank you to her) The wait staff are all friendly and attentive to our needs. The food is very good including an off menu dish my wife requested ( was no problem at all for the chef) We love the dark lite dinning room , gives it a nice romantic feel. We will certainly be back !!
The food was delicious and the wait staff was very attentive. Our waiter Doug kept us entertained all evening, telling us jokes and making sure we had everything we needed. The breads, cheese and zucchini slices they served before we ordered anything were delicious. There were 4 people in our party and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. We celebrated my fiancée's birthday and the dinner was perfect.
