Owners Lucy and Gaetano always provide the best dining experience - cuisine, service, and otherwise
Quality Italian food, ravioli specials etc. house made - always a good sign in my opinion. Light and fresh crispy calamari, and a wonderful branzino fillet with crispy skin. Yum. Very good service, our characterful waiter got it just right. Quiet, low key ambiance, definitely a good place to go if you want to talk. Thought it should be busier - we were there on Saturday night but it seems like an office/business area.
We had never heard of or been to Il Moro, and what a lovely experience! The food was fabulous (I had the prix fixe menu, which was a good value with generous portions). The service was delightful, and the restaurant was quiet. The menu is extensive, with additional specials to choose from. We would definitely go back.
It's a nice enough place but a little underwhelming. It's never a good sign when you eat that first bite and think, "Maybe I ordered wrong." I just think that there is tremendous potential here, and I will absolutely give it a second chance. Too many others are fans that I have to believe it was just an off night.
Normally, this is a somewhat out-of-the-way spot for me. However, I was attending a play nearby, and was in the mood for a proper dinner and theatre evening. Well, I hit the jackpot -- at least with the dinner part, lol. From the very warm and genuine welcome, through to their gracious thank-you and good-bye to me, it was a first rate experience. Especially for this high-ish end place, their "Tax Relief" special was a shockingly good deal. (One would have expected the portions to be a tad modest because of that, but I actually had to have some of my main course boxed up to take home.) I chose the Carciofe Salad (fresh, light and delicious); Filet Of Sole With Lemon Butter And Capers (equally delicious); and the Gelato With Fresh Berries (perfect ending); all accompanied by a glass of champagne -- French, just because :-) Have to say, there was not a single off note, even all the diners at other tables struck me as lovely people.
Lovely place for lunch that I often forget about. The servers are really nice and the food is delicious.
Great service and food !
Il Moro is always GREAT! The food is wonderful and fresh; the restaurant is clean and quiet; and the service is very professional and friendly.
A friend was in partnership with the restaurant to showcase his artwork and we decided to grab a table to experience the food as well. It was a lovely space as we sat in the back room behind a glass partition. It helped with managing noise levels during the event. Lots of attendees! Food was great. Service was great. I will definitely be back and of course recommend this spot for any occasion.
So glad that the wife of the owner, as hostess, told us about the "tax relief" menu...a $30 prix fixe meal that was delicious and plenty of it. It's a gorgeous restaurant, wonderful wonderful service, I never had to ask once for a water refill and our waiter was very charming and personable. The filet of sole was terrific, and it was served with spinach and roasted potatoes. Three courses! $30!! But the regular menu seems very fairly priced for the area. If you go before the end of May, there's a wonderful art show on display by Gus Harper. The works are intriguing and accessible. I love Il Moro!
Been here many times which should tell you everything you want to know as I am a picky and critical restaurant goer. Service consistently good, food reliably excellent
We (father and I) were celebrating the lyft IPO the next day. We wanted to try a new place somewhere in Sawtelle. So off to that other unnamed restaurant review site I went and found Il Moro.
Food was ok -- they didn't have my usual lasagna so I got pizza, additionally, we each had a glass of wine, shared bruschetta and father had a salad. The pizza was very thin, indeed, I believe one of the slices broke in my hand from gravity itself.
But the biggest thing was the noise. I don't know if this is normal, but the acoustics seem designed so that every other table can hear you speak, EXCEPT FOR YOURS.
Wine was ok, dad had the Cab, I had the Montepulciano.
Bill was a bit steep for what we got.
Finally a restaurant that people with hearing problems can go to and enjoy not only the food but the actual at the table conversation! Totally enjoyable evening.
The food is always tasty and the servers are appropriately attentive. Great place to meet for a pleasant dining experience and when you want to get in and out in an hour and not feel rushed while dining.
The sauce on my lemon pasta was too creamy and didn't have much flavor. Ditto for the grilled veggie appetizer -- not very flavorful. Needed more seasoning.
Great food, great service - attentive but not over the top. I had a F2F client meeting with five people around a table - we were comfortable talking at a normal volume. In and out in 90 minutes. My clients were happy and well fed; a win all the way around.
I was disappointed when the check came. We both ordered "specials." I ordered a salad with sliced steak and my friend ordered Branzino. The check came to over $90.00. We drank tap water, no wine. Just one cup of coffee. Lesson learned. Ask for pricing when ordering menu specials.
Good Italian place; excellent bolognaise! decent value these days.
This restaurant has been our go-to on the west side for many years. If I'm meeting someone from around there or south of there, it is perfect because it is freeway close and there's usually plenty of street parking. The food is consistently excellent. Lately I'm recommending the grilled scallop and spinach salad. Pastas are excellent!
Great local place with excellent food, drink, wine and atmosphere.
I would have rated 5 stars if I did not feel the valet parking cost was too high. $12 for lunch is a bit much. The waiter recommended the fish but did not say the price. Turned out to be expensive for lunch but yummy. The service was good.
Solid business lunch spot with very attentive service and first rate (if not terribly creative) food.
Consistently good! The Biscotti are an excellent way to end the meal with a Cappuccino.
Meal was great. Service was great. Just didn’t like sitting with people in jeans and T-shirt’s wearing baseball caps
I’ll Moro went all out with an incredibly amazing dinner from start to finish. The service was on the spot and courteous not pushy and the choices for Valentines Day were creative with options for everyone.
Outstanding meal, lovely waitress. Excellent overall.
Fun for five girlfriends lunch, girls, being in our sixties!
Il Moro delivers time after time. There is never a drop in service, food taste, quality or ambiance. We took guests from Belgium, who are used to very fine dining, to dinner last week. They were blown away, with both menu and special items for the day. My favorite is the Puttanesca pasta. The Diavalo pizza was also terrific.
I ESPECIALLY LIKE IL MORO FOR DINNER
QUIETER THAN MOST RESTAURANTS - YOU CAN ACTUALLY HEAR YOUR COMPANION
FOOD QUITE GOOD
The entire experience was amazing! The food was beyond belief good! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone! The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable!
I love IL Moro! Food is always delicious, we’ll-prepared and great choices. I haven’t had a bad meal or experience there! It’s a lovely space, inside and out.
Very attentive waiter and food fine but find it pricey
Our go-to lunch or dinner spot whenever we're visiting Los Angeles. The food is always consistently delicious. The service is professional, attentive and friendly. We always look forward to dining there. They never disappoint.
Good food and nice decor. You are treated like family
Outstanding as always! Great food, great service, breads/crackers yummy. Outdoor dining under heat lamps in winter, a real treat. Parking next door, validated or valet, your choice. My FAVORITE place!!
I hadn't been here for a few years and it didn't disappoint. The Risotto with lamb ragu was amazing along with the carciofi salad. My friend and I shared both and left feeling very satisfied. Our server was wonderful and the day was lovely enough to sit out on the patio. The only negative is that $12.50 for valet parking is pretty steep and higher than most Beverly Hills restaurants.
Never disappointed food always top quality, great selection fine dining.
Our waiter was helpful, patient and informative. Never pushy - greatly appreciated!
We had a simple meal, and it was perfectly prepared.
Did not like the table offered & host was not willing to accommodate my request for a 4-top table when there were only 2 in my party- even though there was at least one other 4-top with 2 in the party - and the restaurant was almost empty.
