IL Laghetto Ratings and Reviews
I took my wife, daughter and granddaughter to Il Laghetto for my grandaughter's 12th birthday.
It was our first time there. The drinks, wine, appetizers, entrees and deserts were truly delicious. The service was impeccable. The owner and waiters were friendly and conversive without being intrusive. I look forward to dining there again.
It was Thanksgiving. We both ordered the ham. It was SO SALTY I could barely eat it. The green beans were not simply al dente, which i like, they were RAW, which was not pleasant. The mashed potatoes did not have much flavor, and the pumpkin pie slice was pretty tiny - but i suppose that was to be expected. We have had very good meals here in the past, but this one did not measure up.
I was very pleased with the my overall experience at il ilaghetto! The food is outstanding andd the ambience is romantic and relaxing. The wait staff is friendly, competent, and knowledgeable about the food options on their menu. This is the 3rd time I have been at the restaurant for restaurant week and would 100% return in the future! My only complaint Is that the bar drinks are Extremely overly priced! My date got a Rum and Coke and it cost $9..And it was in like a 10 oz glass!!! Spending $20 for 2 alcoholic drinks Is extremely ridiculous! We aren't in midtown Manhattan!
Had lunch and it was good. The food here is always good and the location, practically on top of Lake Mahopac, is excellent! Today, I was not impressed with the food presentation. It looked like someone scooped pasta into my bowl and served it. Usually, there’s some color on the plate to give it appeal. The door to the outside was propped open, so there were a few flies in the restaurant. The place is too nice and classy to have bad days. I’ve been before and it’s always wonderful, so I expect that it was a rare hiccup in service. I’ll definitely return in the future.
This was our second time at Il Laghetto and it was even better than the first. Parking is a challenge but dining was a delight. Four of us each loved the LOBSTER special. Our waitress was happy to accommodate our low carb request and replaced our potato with a double portion of veggies.
Pleasant experience seated on the lake on a spectacular evening. We’ll certainly be back!
The setting was as attractive as ever on the lake, and it was a beautiful late summer evening. Music was playing at a reasonable level, it could be heard, but did not interfere with conversation. The service was friendly and timely. Drink orders were taken, and we received bread with an olive oil, tomato, and cheese sauce for dipping. I twas delicious! The chicken Francese had a flavorful lightly browned lemony batter. The chicken was chewy though. Our table had two orders of this. Both diners ate only half. It was served with roasted vegetables. The potatoes were cooking perfectly. The rest of the vegetables were almost raw. The meals was disappointing.
The chairs that were used outside we too low for the table, and were uncomfortable. We noticed that some tables had doubled up on the seat cushions. Gone were the beautiful outdoor curtains that had once been billowing in the breezes from the lake.
Once the sun set, the yellowish (bug lighting ) came on. It gave everything an orange glow.
The setting is lovely, but seemed to be lacking in details that once made the restaurant something special.
As a side note, we noticed that only men were waiting tables, no women?
I went with a friend on a Sunday for Brunch. The setting is beautiful, we were seated outside just feet from beautiful Lake Mahopac. Our Waiter Anthony was friendly, attentive and created a nice experience for our meal. We both had the grilled chicken sandwich which was delicious and fresh. For dessert my friend had a Coconut dessert served in a coconut shell (beautifuly presented) and I had Pistachio Gelato (Anthony made sure to ask if I wanted Chocolate sauce and Whipped Cream) both presented well and delicious.
I will for sure be back and have already recommended to others.
Everything was wonderful. We got a great lake side table and enjoyed delicious drinks and food. Our server Charles was top notch. Very attentive and super helpful. I recommend this place for a few drinks and apps., also a wonderful dinner spot!! Beautiful sun set!!
We went out for a spur of the moment lunch on labor day and discovered this great restaurant! Right on the lake, great cocktails, even better food and the service was both first class and friendly. Will definitely go back and for all seasons, not just the summer.
When you go to a restaurant, the first thing you think of is, the food has got to be good. Not only is the food delicious here but the overall atmosphere is just lovely. Everyone of the staff from the owner, to the bartender, to the the waiter is so polite and friendly! This includes the poor soul working the valet In the pouring rain, getting soaking wet and he still greeted us with a smile...amazing!! I've been here before and will be going back again. I highly recommend this restaurant!!
I love this place, but once again, and I've said this before, the ladies room is disgusting. You would think they could follow through and make sure it is kept clean throughout the night. paper all over the floor, floor was sticky, just doesn't match the ambience or prices of the food.
Nice place. Average food. We go because of the view/location and the overall feel of the place. It's a casual spot on the lake and quite pretty. Staff is very nice and the atmosphere is low-key and comfortable. Live music on Sunday afternoon. It's a nice, mellow vibe. More plusses than minuses.
We had a reservation, but were seated at a corner table that was somewhat cramped. We should have been offered a larger open table. The food was good, drinks were plentiful, but I felt the amounts (of a scallops dish) were small. We certainly were not rushed and were one of the last diners there. My husband loved his gelatto!
Nice view that's it! they seated us a half hour late, sat at bar to have drink had no titos vodka, bartender was very snarky, worried about her boyfriend at the other end of bar! Told her wanted belvadeire vodka she gave me grey goose ! Sat down in the dark bus boy dropped my martini and then didn't offer me another! Waiter was nice, food was not good! Won't be back for sure
Very interesting sauted calamari. Food was very good but orders were skimpy. Not a lot of good stuff in my Chicken Sinatra, & my girl had only 4 mid sized scallops. Our waiter was a nice kid, but it took a very long time to get our orders & the place didnt appear to be too busy.
Was there Saturday night 8/19
The food was good. Service was slow. Had my wine replaced because black particles were floating in it and glass was filthy. Was brought back a new glass of wine, glass was clean but wine was still dirty. Food took forever to come out. The kept adjusting a curtain that hung over our table, happened multiple times. Don't think we're going back. You get better service at Chili's.
VERY VERY noisy, staff running around like tornado's, took very long for waiter to take our drink order. He kept saying he'd be back in 2 mins, but never did until we called him 3 times. My food was almost inedible. I can't remember when I've had such a poorly cooked meal. My husband ordered a pasta dish, only to be told he could not have the pasta he ordered because they "didn't have enough".
Sorry, but in the future I will by pass Il Laghetto
And anyone reading this, I would advise you to do the same.
It was our anniversary and we wanted a quiet dinner with a great view. And, we got it but there were some hiccups.
First - the hostess acted as if she'd rather be anywhere else, not a great first impression, but we were determined to have a nice night. The inside of one of menus was torn so as to be unreadable in places. The bartender came to take our drink order noting that it was a bit busy and he was helping out. We ordered wine and when it was served by him and had a lovely conversation about wine. We ordered dinner with a polite young man and enjoyed the wonderful view.
The food arrived. Not our food. Told the food runner, and he took them back only to return with the same plates. Still not ours, and our appetizer hadn't arrived yet. I spoke with a staff member who said the kitchen missed the appetizer and apologized. Said if we wait until the appetizer is served, the entrees will sit under the heat lamps until served. (At $25-30 a plate). He offered to comp the appetizer and we accepted. Still not our food, though. I had ordered salmon, but not prepared the way it was served and what was on my husband's plate *could* be swordfish, especially as they insisted it was...
It wasn't swordfish - it was scallops. We both tasted the entrees, but it really wasn't what we ordered and back goes the food. Again.
Appetizer (crab cakes) was delicious when it was served not that too much later. And *our*entrees were also great (wasabi salmon is amazing!). The food runner came over and apologized again. Not a manager; the food runner.
After dinner, I ordered a Nutty Irishman and tiramisu. The dessert was terrific, but the coffee was lukewarm. I told the waiter, he said something about the Baileys being too cold.
When the check came, the appetizer was still on the check but by this time we were too tired to care.
Gorgeous view and food was great, but the overall experience left much to be desired.
Pretty much as expected! Food was outstanding, service great. Only negative, and even the waiter noted it: Our entree was not served until an hour after we had taken our seats. Everything else was served post haste, but the wait from salad to entree was unconscionable. The place was busy with many diners on a late afternoon Sunday, and a casual look about seemed to indicate most parties were not waiting as long as we were, and as said before, even our waiter was a bit taken back by the delay. All this being said, I would go back again, because the food was outstanding and the outdoor seating enjoyable. I trust this was not normal for a party of four, even at a busy time, so they get a pass for this first occasion!
