il Giallo Osteria & Bar
While il Giallo means both “Yellow” and “Mystery” in Italian, yellow, the color of the yolk, the sun and the grains, it represents il Giallo’s wholesomeness; the ingredients used will be responsibly sourced, fresh and flavorful. Mystery represents the new, different and exciting flavors and aromas found throughout the constantly evolving il Giallo menu.
We strive to accurately represent the foods and flavors found in the towns and villages along Italy’s Coastal regions, the freshest imaginable hand-made pastas found in the mountains and plains and lest we for forget, the bounty of cured meats, cheeses and olive oils from north to south.
We want to become an extension of your home by providing a comfortable and inviting atmosphere where you will want to spend time with friends and family.
Took a chance and tried a new spot! I was craving Italian. We enjoyed the drinks! Both the Caesar salad and featured caprese salad were great. The lasagna was good. I would like to see a more traditional version with bolognese sauce. Their version features beef short rib. Though good, it left me longing for a traditional Italian red sauce. My friend ordered the risotto of the day. It came out luke warm and not cooked properly. Such as shame as we were celebrating her birthday. The chocolate cake and bread pudding desserts were great. Our service was excellent and for that reason alone, I’d give Il Giallo another chance!!
Excellent experience from the service to the taste of the food.
Lovely birthday dessert
Exceptional food, daily specials or menu items are always delicious. If you really want to enjoy your evening, sit at the bar. Sharon, Erion and Cole are the best bartenders in town, and their recommendations are always spot on!
Excellent Italian food. Pasta is made fresh in house. Service was excellent and they were conscience that we had theater tickets at a designated time and made sure we were not rushed to get to our performance.
This is the best Italian restaurant in Atlanta. Chef Jamie Adams and Leo (front of the house) are exceptional. Cool atmosphere yet friendly and relaxing. The homemade pasta (made in front of everyone) is a unique touch. The dining experience at the bar is wonderful too. It is our "go to" neighborhood Italian restaurant, but the quality of the food makes it a fine dining experience.
Food quality and quantity were excellent. Service was exceptional.
We've been several times and il Giallo consistently delivers great food and service.
This is our favorite Italian restaurant in Atlanta! The food is always delicious whether it’s a standard like spaghetti and meatballs or one of their inventive new dishes. We love to go for our Saturday night date-night!
First time. Overall great experience. Food was very good. Most impressive is the overall service and welcomeness they project. Everyone from the hostess to the wait staff were very attentive. They moved with a sense of urgency but cool. The level of service was on the that of a Bones or Chops but without attitude or smugness. Very personable and friendly. Our waiter was tied up with a large party and another waiter noticing this stopped by to see if we needed anything. Bread was delicious as was the brochlirab and calamari apps and main entrees. Solid A all around.
My wife enjoyed the evening special of tagliatelle filled with butternut squash. My halibut was excellent.
Maurice was an excellent waiter. He fully explained the evening specials, helped with entree choosing and was available when needed.
I love that they use Italian flour. This means that I CAN eat food using flour, which I can't do with the American flours as I am gluten intolerant with the flour in the US. They also let you see the preparations of the food. Where else will children be given some raw pizza dough to feel before ordering? Also, this elegant Italian restaurant does NOT have a tv in the room, which is so low-brow in other Italian eateries. Our server was outstanding! The food was exciting. I will be back again and again!
At first blush, this stylish, suave, art deco inspired Italian restaurant, with its open kitchen, exposed architecture, and high fashion front walls, make you feel like it might belong on the Amalfi Coast. But one bite of the veal chop parmesan and a fork full of the pasta drenched sauce with a half of a duck meatball speared through the prongs, will remind you that this is as good as any roadside stop on the streets of Calabria, but with that Portofino feel and ambiance. Beautiful scenery, and world-class cuisine, and service like your being taken care of by an Italian village, il Giallo Osteria has become one of the premiere Italian restaurants in the southeast, and the North end better be on their toes, because Hanover Street and Mama DePandi have nothing on these guys. My favorite Italian restaurant, and my favorite restaurant period!
Grest food and service.
Food and ambiance were excellent. Service was attentive, but we had to wait a little for our main course to arrive. Everything else was very positive.
Everything was wonderful! Specials were great and the server was amazing. The only complaint I have is the noise level. We’ve always dined early in the evening but this time we were there at 7 which was much busier. The noise level was high but was also not helped by extremely loud music from the speaker above us. Other than that it was a perfect meal and we will definitely be back.
This was likely one of my most favorite meals at il Giallo. I had the Swordfish special of the night, which was perfectly grilled and served on a red bell pepper sauce, with small onions, small tomatoes and hazelnuts made into a fabulous sauce and served on the side. My husband had Pappardelle pasta mixed with shredded Osso Buco. We shared an arugula and roasted peach salad, sprinkled with finely chopped and candied hazelnuts. Our server, Serena, was excellent - friendly, knowledgeable, and gave us the perfect amount of attention. A very enjoyable evening.
Excellent Restaurant, food and service. Very consistent.
Amazing food and service, I would recommend for family and friends. Love it!
The food was off a little bit and not as good as some of our previous meals. The grilled fish was good but the meatball appetizer was disappointing
Brilliant cuisine, stellar service. Serena is simply the best.
Truly a pleasure eating here. The menu was unique. Everything arrived at the table at the proper temperature and was delicious. The Caprese salad was amazing! Our server Maurice went above and beyond. He was truly a pleasure. By the time we left, he felt like a friend. Definitely a must try. We will be going back!
Everything was wonderful. Manager and wait staff top notch
We had a birthday dinner and they seated us in a great corner so we could be semi-private. Our waitress was fabulous and was so attentive to whatever we needed. She even brought us the best dessert!
Great food, great service, and great drinks; the trifecta of dining!
Great food, service and drinks. Look forward to coming here at least monthly!
Very nice! Enjoyed eating with friends! Would recommend asking customers if they would like a heater on their coffee.
Always a winner. Homemade pasta superb!
We had a delightful time celebrating two birthdays. Service was exceptional and the food outstanding.
Another wonderful meal here. We ordered seven different dishes so we all could sample the different foods. Jim, our server, was very helpful in ordering, so we had a good variety, and served us with great professianalism we all enjoyed everything. The octopus and nochi were outstanding. Best bread in town as well. We will be back very soon.
The gorgonzola gnocchi was AMAZING and we took the waiter recommendation on the wine! Great pairing.
Maybe our expectations were too high after hearing and reading other reviews, but our meals, ranging from trout & snapper to chicken parma to spaghetti, were strictly average. The fish in particular was disappointing and bland. Overall ok, but not particularly memorable.
First time here. Serena was our server and was just amazing. She spent time explaining menu items and made suggestions. Food was terrific and the pace at which it was served was just right. We will be back.
Fine dining with a more casual atmosphere. Our waitress was awesome and so helpful with the menu and her recommendations. The bread pudding and cheesecake are worth a visit alone!
Birthday dinner special dessert
First, let me say that chef Jamie is absolutely one of the best in the business. Fantastic artist! For the meal I ordered the Octopus appetizer - cooked perfectly, but very little served on huge mound of delicious if uninspired mashed potatoes. I wanted octopus, not taters! The second course was homemade pasta. It was disappointing - definitely homemade and good, but the noodles were not treated well. Over cooked so it broke into short strands and mushed altogether into a pasty lump of pasta brick. In fact it was deja vu - pasta turned into mashed potatoes. It was an off night I am sure and Chef Jamie wasn’t there. I’ll be back.
We have a group of 4 couples that pick one restaurant a month for a "group dinner." August was our month to chose. Il Giallo was our choice. We have dined there with some frequency since it opened and have always had a very nice experience. Tuesday, August 20, was another delightful evening. We made the reservation in July, so the gave us a table that was away from the rest of the room. The food was superb and the service great. Because it was a Tuesday, we were not rushed and that added to a very pleasant evening! We had lobster, fish and veal dishes. All were wonderful.
Jamie, Thanks to you and your staff for another Great Evening!
Great experience! Food, Wines and Beverage
Noise level makes conversation impossible ...😬. Owners need to put in more absorptive ceiling tile
Delicious food. Huge portions. Service somewhat slow.
