Great ambiance. Friendly waitstaff , lots of teamwork, didn’t have to wait for waitress if I needed something. Service was a little slow for me, bar drinks took a while but at the end it averaged pretty well. Being a party of four we ordered a variety of items, calamari was just calamari not too impressed, the clams were ok, now the pork chops were amazing, not dry cooked to perfection. The octopus top notch, soft and full of flavor. The osso bucco better than expected, tender great Demi paired perfect with mash potatoes, and salmon was also real good. We had a bottle of Austin hope, good wine service. Recommend the carajillo. It was the best I’ve ever had. Can’t go wrong w tiramisu and crème brûlée. Over all experience was very good, priced average for an Italian restaurant. I would definitely go back, and will try pizzas this go round. Give it a try, you will love it!

The steak that I ordered was well seasoned but it was not well cooked. I ordered modicum rare and when I got it well done. The server took my steak and brought me a steak that was completely raw. I did not have the energy to complain and just had the smashed potatoes and veggies on the plate. I had to take my steak to go so I could cook my $40 steak properly at home. I had tried pizza, pasta, lamp, pork at il forno and it’s perfect. Do not order a steak there. It’s not their specialty

The papardelle pasta was exquisite. My wife had the fra diavolo which had the right amount of spice with a lot of flavor. The attention we received from all the staff was so refreshing. We had just had a bad experience at the Peruvian restaurant and when we came here it was a complete 180 from the attention, to the amazing food, and everything in between. Definitely our favorite restaurant in mcallen.

Pizza was delicious, but I didn’t care for the sangria. I switched up my drink order and had a limoncello collins (which I highly recommend). I also enjoyed the shrimp bruschetta. The noise level was loud for a Friday and we didn’t have the best service. I usually order the pizza to go and have never been disappointed by the quality of the food.

Took about 30 to 45 minutes after reservation time before we got seated. Took a while before waitress came to our table due to miss communication but service was good after that.

Everything was excellent. The only rude awakening was walking in to the odor of sewage. Unsure if it was actual sewage or something else. Once we sat down, we seemed to forget about it. Excellent dinner though.

Fantastic food. We got there early and sat at the bar and had a bottle of wine. The bartender was amazing and gave great pointers on the menu and the cocktails. He makes a wicked espresso martini. Our Group loved the food. I highly recommend this restaurant. A fantastic experience.

Service was way above average. Wine list exceptional- rare to find the level of selections available in single pour. I’ll return more frequently just for this reason. The only critique would be on their meatballs. Extremely dry, possibly little to no breadcrumbs and a little on the salty side. The Fett/Alfredo was slight gritty as if Parm not given enough time to emulsify with cream. Minor critiques but notable to me. Chef Cruz had returned .. a huge plus. Highly recommended.. all in all I’d given iL Forno 4.5!!!
