Il Corso (New York City) Ratings and Reviews
Nice and interesting options...traditional as well as creative ones. Avocado and artichoke salad was of the interesting sort. Very nice. Cacio e Pepe should be traditional...but served in a crispy Parmesan bowl. Bit like a Taco Bell salad. Jury is out on that one. Pleasant service.
Good, but slow service. After the first course, the wait for the second was much too long, and the food arrived barely warm, indicating poor kitchen management. The food was quite good, and the risotto even better than that. But the fried gnocchi is an ill conceived dish, poorly executed ( the roux base for the sauce was allowed to cook too long and was bitter from burning). Good wine list.
A friend and I decided on Il Corso for a before theater dinner. Wonderful food, familiar but not typical italian - we had a wonderful grouper as well as a delicious ravioli filled with pork and broccoli rabe. The maitre d’ recommended an Italian wine which we really enjoyed. We would definitely go back.
Waiters knew the seasoning and preparation in detail. Superb chef. Good wine list and waiters know them. True to the Italian cuisine. I had the seafood spaghetti, and the salad with shrimp, my wife had the raviolis. All delicious. We will be back, make reservations, it was full on a Tuesday night.
Unpretentious little restaurant serving excellent Italian food that includes several favorites and also goes beyond the usual lineup. Some of the antipasti are salad-ish and some of the salads are substantial, for those who don't want both. Prosecco & other sparkling wines by the glass. Service was unbelievably prompt and efficient. We would go back any time.
This was my last meal before the marathon so needing a good portion of spaghetti. I had the spaghetti meatballs, which were spot on! It's an intimate location and atmosphere but we did feel like we were too close other diners. Other than that, a positive experience and would dine their again.
Il Corso overperformed our already reasonably high expectations. Course after course of delicious food brought by very solicitous servers just kept the enjoyment building and building through the night. The atmosphere was perfect for four friends catching up on recent adventures. It is a pleasure to be able to award Il Corso the highest rating for overal;l appeal. Wed'll be back.
We had a wonderful after-theater dinner this past weekend at Il Corso . My husband has many stomach issues and the fish he ordered came with a sauce which somehow we missed...he needed something very simple. The waiter was wonderful, took the fish away, fixed another fresh one simply sautéed with lemon and a little butter...so delicious. Almost all their pasta is homemade and I loved it. We also enjoyed the carpaccio with arugula. Such a nice place...unostentatious with excellent quality ingredients. I can't wait to go back. Also, my husband asked about a specific Brunello...the waiter said he preferred another one which was less expensive...now how often does that happen.
Il Corso has great experience, the food and service were outstanding. It will be memorable. My wife had the veal bolognese pasta and I had the. Seafood pasta and they were tasteful. The tiramisu and coffee were superb, i was really surprised by the texture and taste. The waiters are exceptional. I highly recommend this restaurant.
We were in the city visiting our daughter and we came to Il Corso. We got a lovely table by the window and our waiter was very attentive. Some meals were better than others. Overall the quality was good. I would expect better bread at an Italian restaurant of this level. It tasted like it was from a supermarket. A little pricey for what you got but we knew it would be expensive.
