We went for a birthday celebration, just the two of us. We sat outside on the veranda. We ate like royalty, everything from the wine to the entrees was cooked to perfection. My favorite morsel was probably the calamari which the waiter recommended. But everything was delicious. Birthday boy/man was in heaven. Looking forward to going back someday.

We come to Sanibel every February for two week and would not miss having one or two dinners at Il Cielo. The food is always great and the staff is the best.

A special table & attentive service after our son called to order champagne for his father’s birthday. Daily specials and wine list outstanding. This is one of our perennial favorites on Sanibel.

Very nice place on Sanibel Island and definitely a welcome break from the other 'casual seafood' places on the island. We had a nice table on a small patio that only sat 3 tables so we were not on top of the next table. Our waiter was very nice, prompt, courteous and was able to provide helpful suggestions or answer questions.

I had the vegetarian special of the day which was a nice variety of vegetable-filled ravioli and a delicious cream sauce. the ravioli were a little more Al Dente around the edges than I prefer - I think due to thicker edges than the rest of the ravioli; still tasty though.

My husband had another special of angel hair pasta with Andouille sausage and clams and it was delicious with tender clams.

We did have one miss which was the New York Strip another member of our party ordered - medium rare - it came out as a filet medium well. Normally not a big miss but something I do think a restaurant of this caliber should have worked out.

I wouldn't let that stop my recommendation though.

We ended our meal with two lovely desserts including the key lime trio and they were all really well done, delicious and beautiful in their presentation.

Sanibel is a small island with not a lot of gourmet or specialty restaurants - I would definitely recommend this one as a fancier alternative.

I listed Birthday as the special occasion. When our party arrived, no mention of Birthday was made. Then while reviewing the dessert menu, a woman at an adjacent table received a special birthday dessert. At that point I didn't want to ask, "where's mine?". So we didn't order dessert. Obviously they do celebrate birthdays. They just failed to acknowledge mine.

We had friends from up north and really enjoyed our evening. The specials and wine were wonderful. My only compliant was that the service was a little slow and our guest order extra garlic bread but did not receive it. The table did not receive bread at all which I found odd but not really something to complain about.

IL Cielo is our favorite fine dining restaurant on Sanibel Island and Captiva Island. The food is outstanding and the wait staff are perfectly attentive but give you time to enjoy the food and ambiance.

Classy atmosphere. Live entertainment, piano player is a nice touch. Service attentive. Selections offered are balanced for all tastes and preferences. Food absolutely delicious. Presentation great. Can’t go wrong dining here.

On our recent visit, we started with salads: beet salad very good, the Caesar less so--not enough dressing, and the under-ripe romaine was served mostly in a single unappetizing chunk. The main courses redeemed things: a delicious seafood pasta and a huge serving of osso bucco--enough for lunch the next day and then some. Our waiter was very professional and "called it like it is" when we had questions about the menu. We chose the porch on our recent visit and wondered why no one else was enjoying the outdoors on a mild night. The live music (piped onto the porch) was a nice touch.

Lovely restaurant with piano music. It was very busy so the noise level was high. We had four different entrees and all of us were very pleased with what we had.

Marco was our server and he was deluxe. We chose salads/small plates for our meals. The beet salad was generous and the seafood gumbo was spiced just right for me. My husband's caesar salad was average and his soft-shell crab was spectacular. We got lucky with a last-minute reservation but a longer lead time would be recommended!
