Il Cielo Gardens Restaurant & Bar Ratings and Reviews
It had been a couple of years since my wife and had the chance to dine at Il Cielo - it had been our anniversary go-to spot. After a few years away, we decided to return to one of the "most romantic places" in Los Angeles, and we were not disappointed. Despite it being Valentines Day weekend, there was no drop off in service or ambiance. Some places in the city tend to overbook or overdo themselves on special occasions, but that was not the case this weekend at Il Cielo. The food, as always, was delicious, but the service is what we will remember the most. Again, despite the restaurant being fairly packed because of the "holiday," our host Pascuale and our server Marco were incredible - friendly, welcoming, and full of great recommendations for both food and drink. They made us feel like we were the only ones in the restaurant, which was really nice. I can't say that we can afford to go there all the time, but we certainly aren't going to stay away so long.
Great ambiance. Awesome staff. We went for the V Day dinner. Not good. Food was sub-par to say the least. I will go back to try it during normal business hours because of all the positive reviews. But our food was not good. I got the filet. My fiancé ordered the Chilean she bass. Both were way over cooked. Two great dishes ruined bc they were probably sitting on the kitchen warmer somewhere in the kitchen. Not worth the $ 400 we spent. I’ll go elsewhere next year.
Ambiance is the wonderful, especially on the front patio. Food is very good, although pricey.
Wine list is very pricey, with few choices at the lower end although you can do well if you know your wines. Even thought the place was not at all crowded, we had to wait an inordinately long time for our waiter to bring menus, ask if we would like wine, bring the check and then take the credit card payment, which we finally gave to the manager as waiter was nowhere to be found.
Took my girlfriend here for our anniversary, we dressed very nice and I'm not sure if it was whether we looked young (we are both 25) or whether it was due to the fact that we both are not white, but the service was sub par the entire night. We walk in the door and I had to greet the host instead of them greeting me, we were seated at probably the worst table in the restaurant (right next to the entrance, with the highest amount of traffic). It was about 15 minutes before we got any menus, not even a drink menu, but one of the water guys came and gave us two glasses. When we finally got service it felt like our waiter thought we couldn't afford anything on the menu, so I ordered the most expensive champagne to spite him. Got one check in after our food came and I had to ask a busser for the check since our waiter was no where to be found. Overall the food was excellent and the environment is very romantic, especially the outdoor seating. To me the service is half the experience and can ruin a dinner, I wouldn't recommend this place for that reason.
Memorable for the poor service--had to wait then flag down manager for menus, cocktail order, and water. Never received bread. Long delay between order and meals being placed on table. Waiter should tell ordering guest that special fish would cost $58.
Expect the poor service was a function of a private party, but that is no excuse.
Sitting outside under the plastic cover with the tinkling lights set a great mood. Also fitting 8 of us at a round table encouraged total conversation among the group and service was food too. This is a perfect place for a romantic dinner.
The food was very good
We dined at Il Cielo as part of this month's dineLA program. I hadn't been to this restaurant in a number of years, and my husband had never been there. I forgot just how beautiful the restaurant is. Our 3 course meal was wonderful (almost too much to eat) and the setting was divine. A very romantic atmosphere!
Unfortunately past it’s prime. Had 5:30 reservations & got there 5:25 & valet parking attendant still had not arrived, so my husband parked around the corner himself. Asked if it was ok to park there a& employees didn’t have a clue. Seated approx 5:40 & waiters were still putting table cloths on tables. Food OK, definitely NOT great. Would NOT go there again!
My wife and I celebrated our 2nd year anniversary at il Cielo. We had a wonderful time and exquisite food.
I am not much of a romantic, but my wife insisted, “I want romance”, thank God for such a beautiful restaurant! My wife was happy. And sure enough, happy wife; happy wife.
My pasta was mediocre at best, I had the tortelli and it was very rubbery. My mom had the branzino and it was tasty but the waiter who filleted it table side didnt really do a great job so there wasnt much fish left afterwards and there were a lot of bones in it. Tiramisu was delicious though so at least there was that!
Picked the restaurant for my birthday dinner based on reviews and my love for all things truffle. The ambience was beautiful and romantic. We were seated on the warm covered patio which was dimly lit by string lights. The wait staff was very friendly and pleasant. Everyone we came in contact with had a smile on their face and they were happy and helpful. I first ordered the Il Pomodoro which was a super delicious creamy tomato based soup with crab. For my main, the chef created a rich truffle pasta for me that was not on the menu. It was simple but so yummy and satisfied my craving for that earthy truffle taste. My boyfriend ordered the lobster pasta which came with a full lobster on top! very beautiful presentation. A birthday well spent! I would make the trip from OC to LA again any time for this place!
We arrived a bit early and were seated at once. We had requested an inside table near the fireplace and were accommodated. Beautiful decor with twinkling lights, mirrors, etc. We were there to celebrate our anniversary (#36). Easy to have a quiet conversation and the setting is very romantic. Our server, Luis, was excellent- on the spot for any need. Their famous focaccia bread is heavenly. The wine list is pretty extensive. We were presented with a lovely heart-shaped chocolate flourless cake with with a chocolate mousse to celebrate. A wonderful, memorable evening.
This is a great romantic authentic Italian restaurant. The food and service were excellent. It is charming and romantic and the bonus is you can walk across the street to the Four Seasons before or after. I had the lobster risotto which was superb but it was also $40.00. And a glass of Chardonnay was $16.00 So benprepared to spend. The ambience and food will not disappoint.
We had a wonderful time here. Fun setting inside - it is an older house with the front yard converted to a restaurant and there was some seating inside as well. We had a small table for 2 and they use plants to establish at bit more intimacy at the tables where it makes sense.
The food was great - some of the best tuna I have had with the appetizer. Ceasar Salad was tasty and we both had the special which was a lobster pasta - we both loved it.
Would certainly recommend this as a date night/romantic evening restaurant.
The service, while usually perfect was a little off. Busboys were attentive and awesome, but waiter seemed stretched thin. Waited for lemon whole our fish got cold. Dirty dishes sat on table. This is unusual for this restaurant, so we will definitely return.
I can't even remember having experienced such bad service in my life.
We had a reservation for 5:30pm. Showed up at 5pm were seated at 6:15pm, meanwhile the whole restaurant was empty.
The staff was very unfriendly because we were there with kids. If your restaurant is not kids friendly then please have a sign outside, we don't serve kids!
I can't recommend this place at all.
The food was ok, but not amazing. They brought us bread after we had to ask. Our server only came by to get the order and then we never saw him again until they removed the plates and we asked him for the bill. they didn't even ask us if we want to drink. Honestly, it was not a pleasant experience dinning there. I would not want to go back there again. We were treated like second class people bc we were there with kids. Its too bad, this restaurant def lost a couple of customers.
