About Il Casale - Lexington
Located in the heart of Lexington Center, il Casale Cucina Campana + Bar is a restaurant from Chef Dante de Magistris and his brothers Damian de Magistris and Filippo de Magistris. il Casale Cucina Campana + Bar continues the story of il Casale Cucina Italiana that began in Belmont five years ago, but is a tour around the Campania region of Italy where the de Magistris family hails from.
il Casale Cucina Campana features an open kitchen clad with imported hand painted tiles from Vietri, classic Italian country furnishings made from reclaimed barn wood, and rustic metal ambient lighting pendants. A vintage map of the Campania region fills a floor to ceiling wall that is at the end of an 18 seat Carrara marble bar. il Casale Cucina Campana + Bar celebrates the ties to family and the roots from which they come, and Chef Dante and his brothers Filippo and Damian welcome each and every guest as an extension of the de Magistris family.

Il Casale - Lexington Ratings and Reviews
We received a gift certificated and had never been here, loved everything we ordered!
Our server was outstanding!!! He made some great suggestions!
We started with the Arancini al telefono which were superb and "Tre formaggi" plate was delish! Our mains were Ravioli all'aragosta or lobster ravioli and the Branzino, the crispy skin was awesome, the brussels sprout “carbonara,” crispy smashed potatoes best ever! Everything was prepared perfectly! We will definitely be back again!
We have eaten here a few times and the food is just ok. This will be the last time we will be going there. We had our bread and cocktails for less than 10 minutes before our dinner came - we were not in a hurry! We were trying to have a nice relaxed meal and this was not possible. The check came 5 minutes after our plates were cleared. The whole experience took less than 1 hour - which is good if it's your lunch break, but not good when you're trying to catch up with an old friend. Very disappointed.
We booked this restaurant to celebrate a birthday and an anniversary.
We were 7 people (three generations).
The food is ok, not what is expected from a chefs restaurant but u still pay as one....
Although we came at 7:30pm and the waitress told us that there is only one halibut left (we wanted 2) she came back and said it’s already gone....
We settled for a salmon and another fish. The Salmon was ordered as a medium and came as rare and the waitress just took that piece back to the kitchen and brought the same piece a few minutes later.... all the rest of the people were already finished by then.
No apology or compensation were offered and we just went to have frozen yogurt as dessert.
Don’t waist your money or time on that restaurant!
We had a very good meal as usual . Meatball appetizer scrumptious , salmon dish divine and pasta bolognese did not disappoint . My only complaint was that even though we had a reservation we got seated at a family style table with another walk in which was a bit of a bummer . In fairness restaurant was very crowded due to a local concert happening next door but even so , we felt a little bummed .
Food is generally good but seating seems to be luck-of-the-draw. My first time there I was seated directly over a heating vent. Another time I was just two inches away from a wait-staff service area (where silverware was stored/accessed/clanged and water jugs filled), which was noisy and discomfiting. Twice we were led to hightop tables without first being asked if a hightop is okay (some people DO have trouble with hightops!) I was at Il Casale four times so far -- maybe once I felt comfortable where I was seated.
Nice layout and decor. Have been once for lunch and once for dinner. The food foodextremely wad extremely good both times, with lots of dietary choices for an Italian restaurant.
They have the great steaks and pasta dishes and also lighter fare. I had a cod dish for dinner that was served with arugula, potatoes and tomatoes that was incredibly satisfying in every way - healthy and beautiful.
The chocolate mousse cake was light and delicious. The best dessert ever!
I ordered a pasta dish with lobster that was not on the menu and it was excellent. Fried artichokes were disappointing, could only taste the fried breading. Olives were fine. The second cocktail on list, made with gin, was outstanding. Panna cotta was average. Would go back for the pasta and drink. Service was slow despite restaurant not being full.
We celebrated a colleague's birthday and we all had a wonderful time sharing small plates and pasta. A delicious bottle of wine as well. Waiter and hosting staff could not have been nicer and more accommodating. The food was delicious, we enjoyed every minute. Birthday girl was so happy with the surprise Tiramisu gelato!
My girlfriend and I got together for dinner and I selected Il Casale as it was highly rated. We shared a grilled octopus: the octopus was devine, the greens plated under the octopus was tasty by too heavy on the oil. We both chose the branzino, a brussel sprout mix with a carbonara sauce and crispy potato. The fish was overlooked (charred dry from the grill) and way too salty, the brussel sprouts were dry and served with no sauce, the potatoes were not crispy. If our waitress returned to our table to ask us how our meal was, we would have told her. That, actually, was the only miss she made. We finished with a coffee (nice and hot) and tiramisu (delicious).
When we did speak with our waitress, she apologized and had said the menu was new and the chef probably made mistakes for that reason. Maybe ... who knows.
These guys are my favorite restaurant. I've been coming here once a week for a year now and they have always been so gracious. The food is absolutely fantastic and the staff is wonderful. While I have become friendly with them, I have also observed how they treat other customers and they are incredibly accommodating. This starts from the manager(s) and trickles down to the busboys. Great spot, guaranteed you'll come out happy!
We particularly like the list of half-portion entrees for half price. It's a treat for folks with smaller appetites not to have to deal with paying for take-home at restaurant prices or paying for food you can't eat. When the weather is nice, their outside tables are somewhat quieter and quite pleasant. We had fine service and the food was quite delicious.
We went to Il Casale for 2 birthdays, and had a terrific meal. We ordered the "Amalfi" or tasting menu, where they bring you 4 courses for a fixed price, and they decide what you will get. Everything was fresh and delicious. The service was great, with a friendly and informative waitress. If you want a quiet table, ask for #45. We highly recommend it!
