About Il Casale - Lexington
Located in the heart of Lexington Center, il Casale Cucina Campana + Bar is a restaurant from Chef Dante de Magistris and his brothers Damian de Magistris and Filippo de Magistris. il Casale Cucina Campana + Bar continues the story of il Casale Cucina Italiana that began in Belmont five years ago, but is a tour around the Campania region of Italy where the de Magistris family hails from.
il Casale Cucina Campana features an open kitchen clad with imported hand painted tiles from Vietri, classic Italian country furnishings made from reclaimed barn wood, and rustic metal ambient lighting pendants. A vintage map of the Campania region fills a floor to ceiling wall that is at the end of an 18 seat Carrara marble bar. il Casale Cucina Campana + Bar celebrates the ties to family and the roots from which they come, and Chef Dante and his brothers Filippo and Damian welcome each and every guest as an extension of the de Magistris family.

Il Casale - Lexington Ratings and Reviews
I generally like this restaurant, but this meal was not up to standards. My eggplant parm was burnt on one side and overly salty. And the portion (I ordered the full size) didn't seem as large as I remembered - I like to take some home. My friend ordered the lobster ravioli which wasn't really lobster ravioli - it was cheese ravioli with lobster on top. The lobster was good, not much in the way of the 'bisque' that they said it would be swimming in, and the ravioli was cool at best and those that weren't in sauce were 'hard' as if they'd been waiting around a little too long. Not a 'bad' meal, just nothing to make me want to hurry back. Too bad, too, because I love their bread.
We consider ourselves friends of Il Casale and particularly of our favorite waitperson there. But this time, on the evening of New Year's Day, when it was bitter cold outside and the restaurant seemed very lightly staffed, it was also uncomfortably cold inside. I tend to be a non-complainer, but my food came to the table very cool (that was NOT the case for our four companions, whose food was hot), and I finally mentioned this to the waitperson. She thoughtfully brought us a complimentary dessert, which we much appreciated. However, my advice is that if Il Casale opens on a cold night, it should take steps to improve the interior temperature. And while I cam commenting, let me say that an area for cloak hanging would be very welcome, because winter coats hanging to the floor do not improve the ambience. Thanks.
Il Casale was an incredible surprise for New Years. We changed plans late and took a reservation near home. Casale offered a prix fixe menu for a reasonable price. Their offerings were unique and fit for the occassion. The area itself is wide open and they've done a fantastic job of using the features of the existing building to work with the rustic feel Il Casale puts off. We'll go back again for a date sometime. Was thoroughly impressed by nearly every course. Service was adequate, but note that it was a fixe menu.
We went on New Year's Eve. The menu was prix fixe, but the choices were varied and enticing. We all agreed the food was excellent. Our waitress was wonderful and efficient. We had such a good time. We felt the price was slightly steep, but not enough to deter us from deciding to make this our new New Year's Eve tradition. Bravo, Il Casale!!
I looked forward to going for nearly a year. I was given a gift certificate from a friend last Christmas. I do not go out to restaurants often but my husband does. He travels around the country and Europe. He often takes clients out to dinner. He was extremely disappointed, especially with his meal. Our waiter must have had a lot going on because he did not pay much attention to us. They other servers who attended to us were very helpful.
The food is just meh. Drinks are horrible. The waitresses seem to all be new and not know anything about the menu. The food also came out way too fast ( maybe that’s a good thing for you) but showed me why everything tastes bad, because it wasn’t fresh st all.
Had a great recent experience at Il Casalae. Went on a double date to eat dinner before a show. We had a reservation and sat down right away. The table staff brought us water right away, folded our napkins, filled our water glasses, cleared our dishes, all so attentive. Our server, James answered all of our questions about the menu and gave suggestions to help us decided between drinks, appetizers, entrees and dessert. James knew all of the ingredients of our entrees and was very attentive with our party. Our meal was made with the finest ingredients and very comparable to any North End restarant in Boston. During dinner I realized I never printed out out tickets for our show. James brought over the manager, Filippo, who offered to print the tickets for us. Such a nice gesture that allowed us to enjoy dinner and not have to rush over to CVS to print out our tickets. I highly recommend Il Casale and this will defintely be a venue go visit anytime you are in the Lexington area. Thank you Il Casale for a fabulous meal! We will defintely recommend your restaurant and look forward to dining with you again soon!
From the plastic floral arrangement in the entrance hall to the noise and standing room near the reception, our experience was less than ideal. We had 6 PM reservations and were happily seated at 6 PM unfortunately in the noisiest seats nearest the reception area. Noise came from the door, reception, bar, kitchen dishes, and piped in nondescript music. I spoke with the manager who assured me there were no other seats available for us. I told him I had a hearing problem and showed him my hearing aides. He could not hear my complaint. There were three full sized and multiple smaller tables open at 6 PM away from the reception area. It was not until 7 PM that anyone was seated at the three 4 person quieter tables (which could have accommodated the three of us). The restaurant was never nearly full. When we left at 7:30 there were 12 seats empty. The service and waitress was excellent. Although we have been to Il Casale many time in the past because of its convenient location, we will think hard before going again.
The wine selection is simply crave worthy and service is always friendly and SPOT ON. We enjoyed the arancini and craft drinks. Although our friends had a mishap with their entree, the restaurant promptly took care of it, while (unfortunately for them) we flaunted our PERFECT rib eye with Brussel sprouts. Pasta is ALWAYS perfect. And you can't beat the staff. Friendly, attentive, funny. Reflection of the leadership and the care they put into people. It's worth the drive from Hudson! On, and don't forget your caffe correto at the end of the meal. Espresso with GRAPPA. Seriously addictive!
We received a gift certificated and had never been here, loved everything we ordered!
Our server was outstanding!!! He made some great suggestions!
We started with the Arancini al telefono which were superb and "Tre formaggi" plate was delish! Our mains were Ravioli all'aragosta or lobster ravioli and the Branzino, the crispy skin was awesome, the brussels sprout “carbonara,” crispy smashed potatoes best ever! Everything was prepared perfectly! We will definitely be back again!
We have eaten here a few times and the food is just ok. This will be the last time we will be going there. We had our bread and cocktails for less than 10 minutes before our dinner came - we were not in a hurry! We were trying to have a nice relaxed meal and this was not possible. The check came 5 minutes after our plates were cleared. The whole experience took less than 1 hour - which is good if it's your lunch break, but not good when you're trying to catch up with an old friend. Very disappointed.
We booked this restaurant to celebrate a birthday and an anniversary.
We were 7 people (three generations).
The food is ok, not what is expected from a chefs restaurant but u still pay as one....
Although we came at 7:30pm and the waitress told us that there is only one halibut left (we wanted 2) she came back and said it’s already gone....
We settled for a salmon and another fish. The Salmon was ordered as a medium and came as rare and the waitress just took that piece back to the kitchen and brought the same piece a few minutes later.... all the rest of the people were already finished by then.
No apology or compensation were offered and we just went to have frozen yogurt as dessert.
Don’t waist your money or time on that restaurant!
We had a very good meal as usual . Meatball appetizer scrumptious , salmon dish divine and pasta bolognese did not disappoint . My only complaint was that even though we had a reservation we got seated at a family style table with another walk in which was a bit of a bummer . In fairness restaurant was very crowded due to a local concert happening next door but even so , we felt a little bummed .
Food is generally good but seating seems to be luck-of-the-draw. My first time there I was seated directly over a heating vent. Another time I was just two inches away from a wait-staff service area (where silverware was stored/accessed/clanged and water jugs filled), which was noisy and discomfiting. Twice we were led to hightop tables without first being asked if a hightop is okay (some people DO have trouble with hightops!) I was at Il Casale four times so far -- maybe once I felt comfortable where I was seated.
Nice layout and decor. Have been once for lunch and once for dinner. The food foodextremely wad extremely good both times, with lots of dietary choices for an Italian restaurant.
They have the great steaks and pasta dishes and also lighter fare. I had a cod dish for dinner that was served with arugula, potatoes and tomatoes that was incredibly satisfying in every way - healthy and beautiful.
The chocolate mousse cake was light and delicious. The best dessert ever!
I ordered a pasta dish with lobster that was not on the menu and it was excellent. Fried artichokes were disappointing, could only taste the fried breading. Olives were fine. The second cocktail on list, made with gin, was outstanding. Panna cotta was average. Would go back for the pasta and drink. Service was slow despite restaurant not being full.
