Amazing service as always. Delicious meal, recommend the bruschetta and burrata appetizers!
I have been to Il Casale Lexington before, but this time is was much better. Our waitress was excellent, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect. Definitely recommend this restaurant no matter what the occasion is.
My husband and I showed up early and were welcomed. Had a delicious meal with some great recommendations from our server and the bartender. A wonderful date night!
Excellent food - we had the burrata as an appetizer and it was great. My friend and I had the lasagna which is never disappointing. Our waiter, James, was a model of good service. He brought several wine tastes for our friend who is quite particular about his wine. All in all it was a very pleasant experience.
Lovely dinner. Very cozy restaurant
Food and service were very good
The service was good. Parking was easy. The food was excellent and I appreciate the 1/2 or full serving option. That way you can have appetizers and still be overly full. I had the bruschetta and then the shrimp pesto dish. Awesome! I will definitely eat here again and have already recommended it to some friends. It was a very pleasant experience with a very reasonable cost.
Went there on a very, very warm Sunday. Had always wanted to try it and for a last-minute birthday lunch at 3:00 on a Sunday we didn’t have many options. The three of us shared a variety of small plates (meatballs, arancini, grilled octopus, a salad with the grilled peaches, bruschetta, and a small plate of pasta carbonara). All were good. I also had an Aperol spritz that was decent (tryin to keep that April holiday in Rome alive just a little longer in my short-term memory!). For desert, we shared an afogato and a gelato/sherbet cup. Both were good. Most of the staff was having its meal between shifts, but the hostess and our server were plenty attentive. I would definitely return.
Excellent small plates and pasta, great service in comfortable outdoor patio, knowledgable
server suggested a delicious wine and described it perfectly. Great place!
Very good. James our waiter was attentive. Did not spill a drop of martini! Will be back!
This was a pre-theater dinner. The veal saltimbocca was delicious. Different presentation with veal medallions. Veal was very tender and cooked perfectly. The shell pasta with braised lamb was also delicious with homemade pasta and tasty red sauce. Our party had arancini cakes (4) and fried calamari for appetizers. These were nice sized portions to share. We shared 2 delicious desserts: the molten chocolate cake and the olive oil lemon cake. The portions are ample dessert portions. We would go to Il Casale again.
had dinner prior to a concert at Cary Hall. Itwas delicious
Unfortunately, I have tried the Lexington location twice now and, really, it's not that great. Not worth the price, anyways. My family and I went on father's day 2018 and they did not have anything specific for the occasion. Not a big deal but something to note.
I had the sole lemon piccata and the sauce was fairly bland. Pair that with a bland white fish, it was a boring $28 lunch entree. Also, I ordered the "beet" salad and there was barely any beets in the salad. Other family members had pasta dishes and they were lack luster. It was $160 lunch (1 beer) for 4 and totally not worth it.
First time at il Casale Lexington. My husband and I arrived early so we sat at the bar ad had a drink and a few appetizers. When we sat down with our friends for dinner, we enjoyed all of the food. My one complaint was the tables where we were seated were very close together and there wasn't a lot of room so this was a pet peeve we all had.
Don’t skip the appetizers - the meatballs & arancini worth a try. The small plates gives you the opportunity to try a few of the delicious entries. First visit but will be back.
Have been here many times, and the most recent visit was particularly good. Fresh tasty salad, well-prepared fish and homemade pasta were all excellent. We sat outside, which was very pleasant. The waitstaff was attentive and helpful.
Deep fried artichokes were a great start. Main courses were poorly plated and looked messy. Saltimboca was overwhelmed by heavy ham and the veal was mediocre.
The spot Il Casale is in may have been cursed as each restaurant before it, at least during my 10 yrs living in Lexington, as failed. Like the 2004 Red Sox breaking the The Curse of the Bambino, Il Casale seems to have finally broken the curse haunting this location - they have serious staying power and it's fueled by amazing food, great service, and reasonable prices (you are paying for high quality food, so don't mistake "reasonable" as "inexpensive").
I've been here a number of times for dinner and have brought clients/partners there for dinner meetings. Plus, it's the go-to spot for my wife and I when we want to cap off an evening with dessert and drinks before we head home. It's great for groups too - be sure to as for the high-top seating near the kitchen.
Amazing food. Shrimp scampi risotto and calamari were delicious! Waitress was hard to understand with her accent.
was disappointed. Food took forever. they forgot our order I assume since they brought us a free appetizer when tables around us who came in 20 minutes after us were served first and there were only 2 of us. waitress looked like was going to keel over fro exhaustion...not pleasant-just harried. food not hot.
It was my 2nd time dining here, and I was impressed both times. Service was excellent, from greeter to bus-persons to server. I had the Bolognese, and it was perfect. Other dishes ordered at our table were the linguine with clams (alla vongole), veal scaloppini and lasagna. Everyone was very pleased with their dishes (though I am not a fan of eating veal). Additionally, I was pleasantly surprised to walk in and hear live music at 5:30pm on this particular Sunday. I do not know if it is a regular Sunday event, but I hope so! I brought my parents, my daughter and her friend, who both had just graduated high school. It was a perfect place to celebrate this special occasion. I will return again from Newton and visit on date nights with my significant other. :-)
Food was overpriced and mediocre. I had the Lemon Sole and it was a very small portion.
I ordered sole, and cod was substituted in the dish. My daughter asked me not to make a fuss, so I didn’t. I’m disappointed in the lack of transparency more so than the dish, which was good.
I came here since I had been to Il Casale in Belmont and liked it. However, I prefer the Lexington restaurant since it is not as noisy as the Belmont one. Also, one can combine it with a movie outing to the theater across the street.
My wife and I went to celebrate our anniversary. The restaurant was extremely noisy and they placed us in a table for 2 in the middle of an open space which led to the back door and the restrooms. When people went by the table they kept bumping into the wine bottle chiller.
My wife ordered the pork with pork belly special and ti was not anything close to being worth $30. Very disapointed.
A most enjoyable evening was had for a birthday celebration for my husband. Pre-Symphony timing of 5:30 was perfect and we were able to have good conversation at one of the long tall-tops near the open kitchen. Favorites were the bruschetta appetizer, bib lettuce, beet and goat cheese salad, grilled salmon, and linguine with truffle sauce. A very nice touch from our server was a dish of gelatto with a single lit candle for the birthday boy. Management is always present and attentive here because they want their patrons to have a wonderful experience. We certainly did and we look forward to a return visit soon.
Amazing home made pasta and sauces with seasonal ingredients! Our waitress was also very helpful in accommodating dairy and gluten free members of our party.
Great appetizers and fish dishes. Enjoyed desserts, too. Service a little slow at peak times.
Great dinner - thoroughly enjoyed the experience - nice twist on Italian food
This place is great. My wife and I have been a couple of times. Our most recent trip was impacted a little bit by three very large parties (8+) seated slightly before us. Our waitress, who never stopped to take a breath, was understandably backed up. But what was most impressive was the general support she (and we) received from associated staff. Folks rallied to help her.
We enjoyed the specials very much. Each time the food has been excellent. Can't wait to go back.
Food was delish, service just ok
My experience Friday night was not what I had hoped for. I was very disappointed! When you 1st opened, the reviews were not stellar. I thought that after a few years had past and seeing 4 starts, it was worth giving Il Casale Lex. a try. This was for my sons 19th birthday, so it was supposed to be a special evening. Spending $250 w/ the tip for 4 people, I expect a certain level of quality. I also expected a certain level of sophistication that I have experienced at the other Belmont location. I have children, but this environment felt more young family driven, akin to Not Your Average Joe’s.
1.We were seated a few minutes before another group, yet they were served wine and bread before we had even been said hello to. Once our server came over, she was lovely.
2.The appetizer/bread were reasonably priced & quite good.
3.It started going downhill with the entrée’s. My sons pasta was fine/reasonably priced, but I had the Pollo Marsala, & learning it did not come with a starch I ordered smashed potatoes. I got mashed & sent them back. My entrée was not worth$24 + $6 for a total of $30 for about 3-4oz of chicken and a bit of brocollini. Think Large plate, small portion. Likewise, the other 2 entrees were priced on the high side as well.
4.The problem that took us over the top was dessert. My son wanted the molten lava cake, and we were told it would take 10-15 minutes. It. Took. 25. Minutes. And. It. Was. The. Worst. molten lave cake I have ever had. I have had many. Starting way back at Olive’s in Charlestown when Todd English made this his signature dessert. This was small, barely warm in spots, cold in some, dry, & there was nothing “molten” about it. I will say it was nice that you brought my son a complimentary dish of gelato with a candle. It was appreciated. I am sorry to say that the cannoli’s were also not up to standards. The cinnamon should compliment the flavor. These were just runny.
I will not recommend this restaurant. By all means, go to Belmont!
We've never been disappointed! Glad to have this gem in the heart of Lexington.
Always great food and service here at Il Casale. Enjoyed the classic lasagna, very tasty.
Wonderful , food, service, and ambience. They did an exemplary job of accommodating the big crowd after a concert at Cary Hall.
We have dined at this restaurant several times and have never been disappointed. It's a great upscale casual place to grab a drink and a few appetizers or have a nice dinner with a significant other, friends or family. Outside seating is available in warmer months. While inside can be a little noisy at times, the restaurant has a nice, fun and relaxed atmosphere. Food is excellent and service is very good. I especially love the shareable small plates and that pasta dishes are offered in 2 sizes. I only wish that one or two additional lighter pasta dishes were added to the regular menu seasonally or available as daily specials. I highly recommend Il Casale Lexington - it's always busy so be sure to make a reservation!
Local restaurant, good food, good service. Lots of families. Very friendly and accommodating.
We love this restaurant for family dining. The food is delicious, as is the wine, and the service is friendly and attentive.
We had a reservation which was not an issue because the restaurant was not busy. We were sat at a table for two right next to an occupied table of two, which is ok, if busy, but there had to be 25 empty tables we could of been sat at. The service was slow which i had heard prior, so allowed for enough time before the show we were going to. I thought the portions were a bit small for the price of the small size entrees. Did not get a warm and fuzzy from any of the wait staff and they were not busy felt more like we were a burden.
We love this place, friendly, home like experience, food delicious and they take care of their customer
Pros- This restuarant has amazing food. Authentic Italian food. Tasty. Homemade pasta.
Cons- The portions were small though. 1/2 plate vs full felt like they just swapped out the actually plate size.
Cons for some people- Food was on the expensive side but remember that its lexington and rent is not cheap. But if you want good food it's worth it.
Pros- Service was exceptional. Top notch waiters/waitresses. Went on a Tuesday night and it was not too busy compared to a weekend.
Overall I'd go back 100%! Loved the food and service.
