Il Casale - Lexington
il Casale Cucina Campana features an open kitchen clad with imported hand painted tiles from Vietri, classic Italian country furnishings made from reclaimed barn wood, and rustic metal ambient lighting pendants. A vintage map of the Campania region fills a floor to ceiling wall that is at the end of an 16 seat Carrara marble bar. il Casale Cucina Campana + Bar celebrates the ties to family and the roots from which they come, and Chef Dante and his brothers Filippo and Damian welcome each and every guest as an extension of the de Magistris family.
Michael the bartender was most fabulous. Thank you to Wendy the regular who gifted us a bottle of wine. How sweet!!!
We are regular customers and we felt our normal entrees we get a lot were extra salty. Pummurola and kale salads. Waiter was great. I think his name was Daniel.
First time guests. This was a destination restaurant for us. I expected the experience to be much better all around based on reviews. Glad we tried it but there are better choices. If we happen to be in the neighborhood I might give it another try.
Unfortunately our server was either new or did not have a full grasp of the english language. When she approached us to take our order she did not have the daily specials, either listed or committed to memory. She had to go find them, when she returned she was nearly understandable and out of the four options we may have gathered three or four words and not the complete menu item. As we were there fairly early the number of patrons was fewer than it would be around 7pm or 8pm however, our server disappeared for some time.
The food was, as always, excellent!
This is our go-to when attending events at Cary Memorial Hall in Lexington
Fresh, interesting, yet not overly complex food. Something on the menu for everyone. Super friendly and efficient service. This is one of our favorites and continues to give us reason to come back soon!
As always, dinner was wonderful. Service is fantastic! Food
We love Il Casale! We never need to discuss where we are going!! We love the food, atmosphere and the staff!! Highly recommend this restaurant!!
The dining room was pretty nosing and hectic. The pasta with clam sauce was tasteless, though the pasta with lam and red pepper sauce and the bolognaise pasta were tasty.
Great service! Took very good care of our group of 8. High energy fun place serving homemade pasta.
This was our first visit to Il Casale. I had hoped for a quieter place, and was surprised at the high noise level. However, we enjoyed our dinner very much - the food was very good (especially the homemade pasta). The service was also very good - the waiters were friendly, attentive and helpful. We were surprised that a substitution for pasta instead of potato on one of our dishes required a $5 increase for the dish. However, we were also treated to ice-cream with a candle for dessert, as it was one of our birthdays.
Service was wonderful
The food is amazing, service was prompt and the server answered all of our questions.
Had the meatballs and the aroncini to start and the cod special. Wait staff was fantastic and very patient with our various wine selections. Highly recommend
Perhaps a little expensive for every day dining but one could have a small plate and a glass of wine.
Their bruschetta are the best I have had this side of the Atlantic Ocean. The bread is fabulous. Also had a delicious vegetable risotto.
On a Monday night it was quiet and we could enjoy conversation along with the good music. I also like the televisions in the bar or not in our faces. Great place to connect with friends.
Always good food, great service, but we miss the arugula salad!
This is a local restaurants for us,, so we come for dinner on a monthly basis. The service is always wonderful, and the bar has slowly expanded and improved its liquor choices which we appreciate. We find the food very good to excellent and look forward to our evenings at Il Casale.
Exceptional customer service at the bar with Kate and Mike!! Both are very welcoming and friendly, and certainly do their utmost to provide their patrons with a truly enjoyable experience! *
We enjoyed another great meal and 2 bottles of wine. The veal here is excellent. Only critic is maybe pound it a little thinner. Add less EVOO. Service is always excellent here. I would highly recommend.
A neighborhood favorite. Met friends here many times. The Sfizi (Italian tapas) and the cocktails keep us coming back. Thankfully most of the main courses are offered in half portions if you overdo it on the Sfizi.
Met some high school friends sat nite for a catch up dinner. Labor Day weekend so restaurant wasn’t busy which was nice. Waitress great . I ordered the special a pasta chicken dish. It was only warm and had no chicken in it only pasta and a cream sauce. My friends got the chicken saltenboca and chicken Marsala . Both dishes loken better than mine and had actually had chicken on the plate.
Dessert was highlight tiramisu.
My special was the most expensive entree 30.00. Wasn’t a 30.00 meal at all.
I wouldn’t go back for diner.
Drinks and dessert were the best.
The food was sub par for what we expected. We tried this place twice. Will not come here again. Our server was excellent. This determination is purely based on the food quality.
We think of Il Casale as a special occasion place. But on our last night of vacation, and at the last minute decided to go since we were seeing a movie nearby. It reminded me that we should not just think of Il Casale for special dates. We had an exquisite meal. I ordered the broccolini salad, and Dan, our server suggested adding chicken. It was perfectly cooked and paired beautifully with the pepper crema. The bruschetta was brimming with fresh tomatoes--tasted like summer. The pasta dish was light and delicious. And the tiramisu is the best. Great wine choices too. Dan was attentive, well informed, and cared about every detail--he made a casual Monday night meal into an experience to remember. Can't say enough about this gem, in both Lexington and Belmont. Thank you Dan, and to the true chefs in the kitchen.
Great experience, like always! Sitting on the patio in summer makes it so much more special!
Expensive but delicious food. An appetizer and a half order of pasta can be a full dinner.
Very mediocre Italian food. We ate outside last Friday evening. Weather was nice and the ambiance was great. We started with the bruscheta, which was the highlight of the evening (from a food perspective). My wife ordered the eggplant parm and it was not very good. The dish is made typically 24-48 hours prior to serving (that's what we were told by our waiter) and it tasted it. Not crispy, more mushy. I had the salmon and the sauce wasn't great either.... We've enjoyed the Belmont restaurant and thought we'd give this a try, but we won't be going back so soon...
Nice local option. Slow service for a weeknight. Half portions better value than full portions.
The food was very good. The bolognese and caprese salad were excellent. Very good ambiance.
Patio was great. Manager wss attentive and the waiter knowledgeable.
The food flavor continues to be delicious yet the service has gone downhill.
The risotto tasted great but it was more jasmine-like individual pieces of rice, than a creamy aborro rice that should have oozed onto the plate.
The server in the bar area was arrogant and inattentive despite not having a ton of tables to service. The bar tender was helpful and waited on us to backfill for the lack of service.
Dante was in the house and I encourage him to engage his patrons and not just the hostess. The people sitting next to us were regulars and commented on the lackadaisical service as well.
We will go back but to Il Casale, yet tune the service shortfalls, please.
Some of our food was terrific, such as the tagliatelle bolognese. Ambiance was lacking, and our tiramisu was chewy. Cappuccino was more like a latte and not so hot in temp.
Service was terrible. We brought friends visiting from overseas and were embarrassed by the slow and inattentive service. Food is good, but the bad service ruins the experience.
The food is a amazing and it's a nice place to sit outside when the whether is nice.
The food was just mediocre. I already have fairly low expectations for suburban Boston restaurants, so I wasn't shocked. The calamari lacked any flavor, as was the same for my pasta and the side salad served. I'll probably visit once more to give it a second chance since I did hear good things about the place, but I'll continue to keep my expectations low.
The food was excellent, and the service was attentive. We did not mention in our reservation, but our server quickly noticed on my profile that it was two days ahead of our anniversary, so she offered us free Prosecco as celebration. That was a very nice touch. Thank you!
Seven of us enjoyed dinner at I’ll Casale this week. Amazingly everyone loved their meal! My only issue is that our server knew we were celebrating a birthday by toasts to the birthday girl. After dinner, she brought a dessert to the table, which we assumed was on the house, however we were charged for it. The charge was removed when requested but disappointed that the restaurant would do this.
The food at Il Casale is fabulous. The service was great and we could easily talk to each other despite the fact that it was a busy night. I highly recommend Il Casale.
