Great jazz brunch!
If you're there with friends for a special occasion, definitely try the Ferrari--it's the 4 course meal option and you won't be disappointed. No decisions, they just bring you a sampling of the best. You will, however, be very full. By the end of the second course I was like...wait, there is still an entree?!
Our server, Alex, was exceptional. He handled a tricky situation with honesty and tact. And as always, we loved the food. 5 STARS - ★★★★★
Wonderful food !! Highly recommend ! Just a bit pricey
Very enjoyable spot. Good cocktails and beer list. Wine list is all Italian wines. Not quiet but you can have a conversation and hear each other. Food is good and creative, they offer small plates which is nice.
My huband been to Il Casale many times, and have always enjoyed the service and the food. But this time it was a little different! We ordered a bottle of wine, and a cheese plate with it before the meal, as well as our meal. After drinking our wine, our meal came. We never received our cheese plate. When we questioned the waiter, he said oh the cheese plate. Let me have them put it together. My husband told him it's ok, we'll just have our meal. After dinner we ordered desert. Our waiter did nothing for the error he had made. We fully expected our desert to be covered, but it wasn't. To be honest, this was the first time this happened at this restaurant. And the food is so good, I would go back. But we were a little disappointed with this visit.
We very much enjoyed Il Casale. The wine was wonderful, the apps delicious, and the pasta
nicely done and tasty. Our waiter was on time with food, had great suggestions, and did not hover. The restaurant has a great vibe. We will definitely be back.
Il Casale has good food, if not inspired. I ordered the special, which was a filet mignon with seasoned butter. It came with potato/cheese croquettes and a salad of greens, celery, and shaved cheese. The steak was cooked as I ordered it (medium rare) and was tender and flavorful. The croquettes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with the nice surprise of melting cheese. The salad was just okay. Not sure why the chef would think lettuce and celery would make a great salad. My SO had veal with mozzarella cheese, which was very good. We split an "apple crostini" for dessert. It was $10, a small serving, and just ok - too few apples and too much crust. The service was fine in that we didn't have to wait too long for our order), but our waiter needs some training in manners. My SO asked for a wine recommendation for his veal and the waiter insisted that he specify whether he wanted a recommendation for a white or a red. He literally refused to give a recommendation without our saying "white" or "red." Most peculiar! My main complaints are that the menu is pretty small and the prices are, in a word, outrageous. Some of the entrees in the mid $30s, and if you want a vegetable, it's another $8. There are so many comparable restaurants in Boston and the burbs that have more creative food at better prices (Il Cappricio, Deux Aves) and waiters that don't bully you when you ask for a wine recommendation. We won't be going back.
A wonderful Italian restaurant in Belmont. We have visited several times and have had a great experience each time. We shared the formaggi which had 4 cheeses (tel, each of which was superb, with great flavors and described to us as the dish was served.
My wife had the special, which was cod with caponata. The fish was moist, fresh and delicious.
I had the tagliatelle alla Bolognese which was authentic and perfectly cooked.
The service is very attentive and courteous.
It is perfect for dates due to its cozy, warm ambience. Highly recommended.
Food and service was great
We've been going to il casale since it opened nine years ago. Some restaurants slip over time, but It's still as excellent as ever. The only improvement would be better soundproofing.
The food was fantastic! Every dish exceeded expectations!
Overrated place, food was ok, service was very slow and we ended up leaving early for deserts and drinks elsewhere
You won't be disappointed here we went f9r Valentine's day and were very very happy! Definitely give it a try we will for sure again!
Very nice Valentines Day dinner. Not an intimate setting, but pleasant.
Delicious pasta and risotto. Friendly service. Great value.
Everything was delicious and the service was outstanding!
Service and atmosphere were awesome we love going here. We were a little disappointed with the carbonara. The tomatoes were out of season and the flavor took away from the dish. But overall a good experience.
The atmosphere is very cool — one open room with exposed brick. Good drink menu. Food was delicious — something for everyone. Service was great, very attentive and knowledgble. Would recommend to anyone wanting a date night, dinner with a big group of friends, or celebrations.
Lovely evening. Excellent, attentive knowledgeable and friendly waiter. For was delicious. Really 1st class dining experience!
The food was very good but the portions are on the small side. Wait staff are attentive and I was impressed they made me an excellent sangria even though it was not on their drink list. My husband had a steak special that was very tender; I had a Tuna special that was excellent. It is lively and noisy but the food was high quality.
This restaurant really is a gem. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the wine list, her suggestion was spot on. The swordfish was prepared with capers and lemons, the cut was very thin. It was melt in your mouth tender. If possible, I would have stolen my husband's steak - great flavor, perfectly grilled. A great night out.
Requested round table for six. Staff happily obliged. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Overall great choice. Highly recommend.
I had been looking forward to visiting this restaurant for many years. The night started out well with the friendly staff welcoming us. We were able to order and got all the food quickly and correctly. Unfortunately after we ordered we never saw our waitress again until after our meals were cleared. I had wanted another drink, cheese and salt & pepper but she never glanced our way even once. My impression was they were understaffed. Given the wealth of Italian restaurants in the area, I wouldn’t rush back.
Excellent service and great quality food. Offered high top seating which is a big plus for me.
Il Casale is a mainstay and will always be among my favorite restaurants in the Boston area. The ambiance is wonderful, with brick and modern décor. The bartender is outstanding and I always order the Bolognese. This time I also had the panna cotta for dessert and I can't stop thinking about it! Excellent overall experience.
Excellent food. The server appeared distracted at times. Overall enjoyable.
Wonderful and romantic
The food here is amazing. The salmon was perfection and the panacotta melts in your mouth. It's in a converted fire house, so the ambiance is charming but it can get noisy at popular times. We go on weekdays and it's fine. It's in Belmont Center so there are many charmingly unique shops on the street. Highly recommended.
This is a DEPENDABLE restaurant. Delicious food and warm service. Can't be beat!
We always LOVE it there but this time not as much we felt super rushed and it wasn't that busy also not a fan of the set menu ( which we get why because it was New Years Eve) we found out two days before when we made the reservation a week before.
A good, hip local alternative. Fun atmosphere and mix of people.
Wonderful dinner, and excellent service from Wendy.
Once again, a wonderful Christmas eve dinner. Thank you as always for being open on Christmas eve!
Always very tasty food! Love the surprise picks with a larger group ordering the Fiat or Ferrari.
Delightful service, delicious food - just added it to my list of favorites!
