“I loved a lot of restaurants this year, wantonly and casually, and then I moved on. il Casale was one I loved seriously; it’s a keeper. Chef Dante de Magistris and his family hit this one out of the park.” - Devra First, Boston Globe

Il Casale - Belmont Ratings and Reviews
Excellent as always! This time I did not get pasta but one if the specials, rack of lamb, washed down with two glasses of primitivo. Wife got the cod special, raved about it. We had scampi and calamari for apps, and she had a cocktail. Our server was professional, but warm and friendly. Great experience.
Food was tasty. We had two pasta entrees (1/2 portions) and three appetizers. The chopped salad was particularly good, and will become a staple of our future visits. Service was very friendly, attentive and responsive to requests. We ate early so that noise level was quite good. Two comments: the parmesan cheese was a little bland, and it was just a tad expensive.
Been here before several times. Found this time to be loud and the food to only be fair. Remembered it being better. My daughter’s steak arrived raw and in the end was very, very fatty. Extremely expensive for most of the steak to be fat (think it cost around $50. It was an evening special that the waiter said was great but neglected to mention the price and didn’t suggest we might want to rethink as my 11 yr old ordered it). On the positive side, my husband and I each had a quality glass wine. Still, we are not planning to return anytime soon.
Horrible service. We went for brunch and there were only 2 servers for the entire restaurant. No one came by to even offer water for close to 20 minutes. Looking around the restaurant, I could see none of the tables had food for the longest time. Food was good but poorly staffed
From the hostess to the waiter, we received outstanding service. The atmosphere is lovely & overall lively & fun. The food is outstanding. We had delicious calamari, meatballs in a red sauce and an outstanding lemon swordfish dinner. I would Highly recommend this restaurant.
Its a festive place and a great neighborhhod spot. A bit loud, definitely not the place for a quiet date. Bolognese was delicious, as always. Appetizers unfortunately were a big disappointment - the burrata came with tasteless accompaniments and the calamari was soggy. A bummer for sure.
This is my third or fourth visit to Il Casale Belmont. The whole experience was generally underwhelming. The waiter was nice enough but didn't really seem engaged at all. My party had to keep asking for things that should have been automatic (water refills WITH ice after requesting ice water multiple times, silverware, etc.). The interior was very warm and uncomfortable. Two of our party ordered the chicken parm and both felt it was 'weird'...they are using a dark meat instead of chicken breast which is standard. At minimum they should ask if the diner has a preference. Drinks and desserts were ok but largely uninspiring and parking in downtown Belmont is sort of a nuisance.
We loved Il Casale. The waiter was very attentive and the food was excellent. My friends had a veal dish they liked very much. I had a caprese salad which was mouth watering. The entree was amazing as well. I like that Il Casale has a choice of small and larger meals. I loved the way the restaurant was decorated. The only complaint was the noise level. My friends and I had to raise our voices to hear each other.
This restaurant is a favorite of my friends for a delicious but low key dinner. We ate on a Tuesday night and though the restaurant had lots of space we were seated in a not-so-great location. Our waitress was a little strange, flip but slow. We had to ask for bread. We'll go back but maybe they are on a down slope...
Yet again, an incredible meal and experience. I brought my Italian mother and father who were both blown away by the authenticity and incredible flavor and meals. We were celebrating a birthday with a small infant in a carrier (no crying) and the staff was gracious and accommodating on where we sat to be out of the way. Thank you for an amazing meal!!!
We have had many wonderful evenings at Il Casale and dinner earlier this week was no exception. We sat outside, had excellent service and delicious food. Our server was particularly kind to our 9- and 11-year-old making sure they had interesting drinks and helping them find something they were excited about to eat.
Had dinner with friends ( 2 couples), we were prepared for it to be expensive, and it was. Our appetizers were very good: tomato bruschetta 4 pieces and arancini al telefono, also 4 pieces.
Our meals were also very good: tuna steak special, chicken cutlet (good sized portion), steak special, and veal medallions. Serving sizes were modest, except for the previously mentioned chicken. So we had room for desserts. We left full but not stuffed. Will go again, but too expensive to be a regular place to dine.
