Il Casale - Belmont

The Belmont Il Casale is not as good as it used to be. The servers are not as professional. For example: Someone needs to teach them that you don't pile dishes on top of each other on the table when you are clearing it.
My friend like her arancini ( I thought it was dry), her salmon pasta, and her lemon cake ( agree it was delicious).
I liked my paesana salad (very subtle dressing) and my affogato (as always), but the Pugliese pasta was boring, and my Manhattan was sicky sweet; I had to send it back.
Please, get your groove back!
Good was fresh and seasonal. Service was excellent
What was once destination dining for the Belmont area, is now disappointment dining. When Dante opened Il Casale Belmont, his commitment showed in the great food and ambiance of the place, but as he's expanded his restaurant projects over the years, Il Casale Belmont has become the forgotten child. Food is just not even good anymore, service is mediocre. At our last visit, the waiter spent more time telling us what they were out of, than what they were actually serving. On the list of things they were out of that night, linguine... an Italian restaurant.
Still has a prime spot in Belmont Center, but Dante and his group desperately need to hit refresh on this former favorite.
Always enjoy going to Il Casale in Belmont, one of my favorite restaurants. Food is excellent - like the ability to order small or large plates. Our waiter, Angelo, was on top of everything and knows the menu and food well - very accommodating.
We had a great meal to celebrate our anniversary!
Fabulous, as always! The food is a cut well above most Italian places, and imaginative too. This time, we enjoyed the Fritto Misto appetizer before our pasta and fish entrees, which was light and flavorful with wonderful fried lemon slices. Alana was the perfect server: personable and attentive without being intrusive. This is my favorite restaurant in the Boston area for a reason. But why have they stopped offering the fabulous Buratta, honey & candied pistachio appetizer in their Belmont location? A real loss to customers!
Always look forward to an opportunity to go to Il Casale. The food is authentic and always delicious. Service is excellent with well informed waitstaff. Even had an Apperol Spritz which was so refreshing on a hot night. Perfect evening with friends!
Pleasant people..good service..excellent food!
Comfortable, authentic ambiance. Great food, and very friendly service. Will come back.
We sat at the bar, which we generally do not do. The bar tender was wonderfully engaging and attentive but not overly so. It was perfect service! Great food, as always.
The noise level outside on the sidewalk patio is very moderate to quiet and makes for a lovely dining experience. The acoustics inside are rather poor. If it is busy, you may not be able to carry on a conversation across even a small table depending on just where you are seated. The food is consistently very, very good here. We have always had experienced waitstaff whose knowledge of the menu and the wine list are excellent and worth listening to. A consistently excellent dining experience, if you are able to hear each other and talk about the food and whatever else.
Always having a great time at Il Casale Belmont and it has become our neighborhood favorite! Great service and the food is terrific. The manager always makes a point of stopping by the table to check in. This may seem like an obvious gesture but it doesn't happen in most restaurants. Means a lot to us! Oh, and did I mention the terrace!?!
I went with my daughter, which was a special treat. The pasta was fresh and delicious, the bread, calamari, and sorbetto, too! Our waiter was warm, funny, and very attentive. What's not to love?
I save dining on pasta for special occasions and this was worth the spurge. the food is AMAZING! Our server Sarah was just lovely, attentive, informative and patient.
Consistently excellent food and excellent service. The daily special was probably the best carbonara I've had. They just know how to do it all right!
Another fantastic night at Il Casale. One of my favorites. Food, service and atmosphere is what keeps me coming back.
Excellent service. This is really Italian food not Americanized. Try the arancini app...light yet crunchy on the outside and soft and delicious on the inside!
I keep coming back for the ambiance first, it is very cool and cozy at the same time. Loved my box of cookies to go, highly recommend the macaroons!
We had been to Il Casale a year or so ago. While the food was as good as this time, the absence of sound absorbing material, bar noise and music made it difficult to hear each other. Had it not been for an event at Belmont books, we wouldn't have gone back. This time we were able to sit outside, and enjoyed our meal a great deal.
I don't know whether there has been an improvement on the inside noise level. That seems to be a problem, except in very expensive restaurants. They don't encourage conversation. Guests have to speak loudly to be heard, and that increases the noise level.
Excellent experience as usual.
Overall great. Food, service and atmosphere! We had brunch on a Sunday and the menu was excellent with a variety of choices......we all liked our selection.
Delicious meal from start to finish!
Our meal was excellent. The waiter was very attentive in the beginning of his service but then dropped the ball later. Also, I am curious why I was asked if it was a special occasion which it was. But the restaurant did nothing to acknowledge it! Why bother asking .....
Il Casale Belmont is our go-to restaurant for date night. Food & ambiance are always great. Highly recommended.
Wa are so fortunate to have Il Casale as a local restaurant. This was an anniversary meal for my wife and I and the restaurant recognized that and was very welcoming. I sometimes find that the noise level is too high at the restaurant, but on this evening it was not too crowded and so not too loud. I had the bluefish special - the fish was fresh - perfectly broiled and prepared. We had a fritto misto to start which was also excellent - lightly deep fried, if there is such a thing.
The pink martini was also really a fabulous cocktail.
A really nice dining experience - such a pleasure!
Went with wife and folk, great dinner!
It is always a pleasure to eat there. Wish the noise level were lower. Sometimes hard to hear across the table. Food has always been really good - keep up the good work! Especially loved this time the lamb dish with potatoes and artichoke hearts.
It's always a phenomenal time at Il Casale. Everything was amazing as usual.
The food was exceptional, from appetizers to dessert. Wonderful service.
Wonderful--as always. The best service in addition to wonderful food.
Food was good, authentic Italian. Service was OK, but way too little attention as courses progressed. It took 2.5 hours...start to finish...about an hour too long.
Met a friend at Il Casale at her recommendation, and it was a great choice. SERVICE: We had a lot of catching up to do, and the wait staff was attentive to our conversation and slow pace, not interrupting, and brought the courses when we were ready. FOOD & BEV: The short selection of wines by the glass was just fine, and suited the menu. Appetizer - Polpo or octopus was a different combination of flavors & textures and was very tasty. Salad with roasted beets - also very tasty, with the right amount of dressing. A half portion of the pasta pasta del giorno was the perfect size and nicely cooked al dente. My friend had the gnochetti which was savory. AMBIENCE: It was a Monday night, yet the restaurant and bar were quite busy and still the noise level was low and enabled conversation. Will certainly return.
Consistent experience - you know the food will be high quality and the service will typically be very good. Lower service rating this time around because our drinks took 20-30 min to arrive. Our food actually arrived the same time as our drinks. I assume it was a simple oversight at the bar or something as our server was very knowledgeable and attentive otherwise.
This is a great all around restaurant, set in an old renovated firehouse and exquisitely repurposed. Healthy and creatively-prepared food, excellent service. I came away feeling extremely well fed and well treated.
Lovely. Just lovely
Great experience, it was my fiancé’s birthday so they brought him free ice cream. Server was excellent...very attentive.
I was not to happy when I came in with a reservation and was given a high top table in the bar area. There were tables available in dining area that did not fill up. Did not like the attitude of the women seating us. Since it was a family birthday I did not make as much of a fuss as I normally would have. If it was not for our waiter and the food, I would totally trash this place. If you take a reservation you should specify where it will be. Remember the customer is always right. The hostess should have at least checked and tried to find us a table in the dining area. I have not been to Il Casle for a number of years and now I remember why. Thought you were rather pretentious last time I came.
Was there for sunday Brunch on a sunny day. Nice patio, casual set up. Inside decor slightly outdated in our opinion. We had a cheese selection, smoked salmon scrambled eggs, a salmon entree (chefs selection) and tagliatelle Bolognese. All good, breakfast eggs were delicious, pasta well prepared and a hefty portion, too much to finish. Salmon was, well - not bad but underwhelming. With a price of $30 also the most expensive...and look, I know what restaurants pay for salmon. It’s a little over the top and that for brunch one should recall!
I still like the place, it adds to Belmont’s appeal (should you look for a reason to explore it)
Make your own judgement.
