“I loved a lot of restaurants this year, wantonly and casually, and then I moved on. il Casale was one I loved seriously; it’s a keeper. Chef Dante de Magistris and his family hit this one out of the park.” - Devra First, Boston Globe

Il Casale - Belmont Ratings and Reviews
Il Casale is a mainstay and will always be among my favorite restaurants in the Boston area. The ambiance is wonderful, with brick and modern décor. The bartender is outstanding and I always order the Bolognese. This time I also had the panna cotta for dessert and I can't stop thinking about it! Excellent overall experience.
The food here is amazing. The salmon was perfection and the panacotta melts in your mouth. It's in a converted fire house, so the ambiance is charming but it can get noisy at popular times. We go on weekdays and it's fine. It's in Belmont Center so there are many charmingly unique shops on the street. Highly recommended.
Our server Angelo was wonderful. However two of us ordered the chicken parm. Instead of using white meat they use dark. One would think it would be tastier and tender. This was by far the worst meal. It was over cooked and very tough. They offered to make something else but we had time constraints. I would not order that ever again.
We had a lovely early holiday dinner at Il Casale. The food was excellent as usual but the outstanding feature was the exceptional service - and that is what made the evening for me. Our waiter, Michael, was unbelievably kind and professional. Early on I spilled my wine, after which our granddaughter spilled her water, and adding to these mishaps our elderly guest had a long long list of dietary restrictions: nothing phased his professional curtesy. He made an evening at this excellent restaurant truly first-rate.
Went for Sunday brunch after shopping in the neighborhood. Really enjoyed the live jazz and the menu options were all tempting. We each had a different Eggs Benedict and both were super. Loved the loose hot tea and my wife said it was one of the best cups of coffee she has had in a long time.
Excellent as always! This time I did not get pasta but one if the specials, rack of lamb, washed down with two glasses of primitivo. Wife got the cod special, raved about it. We had scampi and calamari for apps, and she had a cocktail. Our server was professional, but warm and friendly. Great experience.
Food was tasty. We had two pasta entrees (1/2 portions) and three appetizers. The chopped salad was particularly good, and will become a staple of our future visits. Service was very friendly, attentive and responsive to requests. We ate early so that noise level was quite good. Two comments: the parmesan cheese was a little bland, and it was just a tad expensive.
Been here before several times. Found this time to be loud and the food to only be fair. Remembered it being better. My daughter’s steak arrived raw and in the end was very, very fatty. Extremely expensive for most of the steak to be fat (think it cost around $50. It was an evening special that the waiter said was great but neglected to mention the price and didn’t suggest we might want to rethink as my 11 yr old ordered it). On the positive side, my husband and I each had a quality glass wine. Still, we are not planning to return anytime soon.
Horrible service. We went for brunch and there were only 2 servers for the entire restaurant. No one came by to even offer water for close to 20 minutes. Looking around the restaurant, I could see none of the tables had food for the longest time. Food was good but poorly staffed
