About Il Cantinori
Il Cantinori, located in Greenwich Village, has been at the forefront of Tuscan cuisine in NYC since its opening in 1983. This old farmhouse with a rustic warmth, stucco walls, wooden beams and voluminous floral arrangements is very romantic and elegant. We combine the unique traditional flavors of the Tuscan countryside with a complete seasonal lunch and dinner menu. We welcome guests with affectionate hospitality, daily specials and a wine list reflective of the northern Italian regions.

Il Cantinori Ratings and Reviews
Had a wonderful evening. Food was very delicious and a super high quality. The menu had dishes you know but prepared in new ways. Everything was the freshest and highest quality. sitting outside on a beautiful night was transportive
Had higher expectations than what was delivered, based also on value for the price. Our waiter was so-so and didn't provide a warm, inviting experience as if he wanted to make our meal experience a memorable one, merely perfunctory. The food was very good but not exceptional. While we enjoyed our meal it wasn't enough to want to return or to recommend it to others in a city filled with exceptional Italian restaurants.
Went on Saturday night for a birthday dinner, and while the front room was full and extremely loud, the backroom was quiet and romantically lit with candles. The food was tremendous, first with a taste of pomodoro and bread, wonderfully grilled vegetables and tomatoes caprese, a grilled tuna special was excellent as was the veal piccata. Overall a terrific dinner.
We just moved to the neighborhood a couple doors down from Il Cantinori. Overall we had a lovely evening. The service was prompt and friendly and very professional. The food was excellent especially the ribeye steak. We also really enjoyed the grilled calamari! We will definitely go back often.

As always, El Cantinori was fantastic. I tried the special meal for restaurant week - it was excellent and the best value on the menu. They honored our request to sit on the porch, and we weren't hurried. The food was delicious. It continues to be a great restaurant.
we live in the neighborhood but it had been a while since we dined there. when we were there last it was with Al Pacino and Angelina Jolie among others and were catered to like crazy, as you can imagine. this recent experience, where my husband and i went for what we had hoped to be a special anniversary dinner, could not have been more opposite. we were married in Italy 27 years ago. i suppose the first mistake was not realizing it was "restaurant week" so the staff seemed rushed and perfunctory. the food slapped down like we were at some institution, a few beans and some fish tossed on a plate, the whole thing shockingly lackluster. i honestly don't know what to say. we were both stunned at how sub par the entire experience was. i even asked the waiter if the look of the plate was due to restaurant week (even though i intentionally did not order from the RW menu) he said no, this is the way the dishes come out of the kitchen. and it was insanely loud, although that seems to be the trend where it is impossible to have a conversation without yelling. and this was not exactly bargain dining, nor were we looking for a bargain. regrettably, i dont think i'll be wasting my time or money there again.
VERY BAD RESTAURANT WEEK EXPERIENCE
It pains me to write this bad review of a favorite neighborhood restaurant; however, it was more painful to pay the bill for a very bad meal. With alcohol, tip, and tax the meal was almost $200 for 2. A lot of money for a poor meal.
I took my friend to dinner for her birthday and to take advantage of Restaurant Week. I didn't want to say much that evening but I am writing now. My salad looked and tasted like it had been made well in advance. The chicken I ordered was tasteless and overcooked. The dessert was the smallest wedge of cake that I have ever seen.
It will be awhile before I return.
Our lunch began at 2 and lasted until pre-dinner. We were seated on the "patio" overlooking the sidewalk, which provided ample entertainment. Food was quite good-- shared carpaccio, salad and pasta, as well as veal saltimbocca and a healthy bit of wine. Our server was attentive without being obtrusive, the setting was simply perfect.
We went here on NYC restaurant week. Unfortunately I felt the the menu presented for this was a bit of a rip off. We should have just stayed with the regular menu. And although we spent a total of $160 I felt that we were treated less than the other guests ordering from the regular menu. Both couples sitting next to us received complimentary dishes from the kitchen and we received none. My food was OK but nothing to write home about.
Just meh. I saw the editorial in the New York Times with Bill Maher being interviewed. I liked the look of the room it looks like a garden. When I got there they said they weren't serving in the garden --actually it is a enclosed back courtyard with skylight. Looked wonderful but no no no. We couldn't sit there. So we sat in the crowded front room where we could not hear each other speak. Then the food was OK, nothing special . The waiters were charming. And as I went to the ladies room towards the end of my meal I saw there were people in the back patio eating . Made me sad didn't feel treated well good not worth coming back for
