Delightful meal. Great service. Will go back again soon.
Although I was put off by ravioli at $36, I was appalled that a cosmopolitan was $21. The place is pretty and the food is good but the prices amount to highway robbery. I go out to dinner almost every night and I had never seen, let alone paid $21 for a single drink.
I had eaten here many times while working. Now retired and moved away but back in the city with my wife. I had many great meals here. Made reservations on open table, when we arrive the restaurant wasn’t full and we were ushered to a not so great table in the back.
Our waiter Aldo was terrific and made our night. The food was very good and his service amazing. We had great conversation with Aldo, and he steered us to great food. The Branzino was very good and my wife’s chicken with lemon and Parmesan terrific. Aldo brought us a small complimentary tomato stew that was like Nona used to make. Dessert was decadent.
Thank you Aldo for making our dining experience great.
The best as always. I am never disappointed. The food, ambiance, staff are the best ever and consistant, year after year!
Food - including, believe it or not, dessert - was delicious. Not inexpensive but, considering the quality of the food and the ambiance, not totally unreasonable. Like most NYC restaurants, a bit noisy and hard to have an easy conversation.
As usual, we had a great experience.
Just a very special place. Fantastic food and beautiful decor. The flowers !! Romantic
Great place. Food was amazing as always. Service was excellent and the vibe for New Years Eve was really fun. Great job and thanks for a wonderful evening.
Came for a birthday. Food and waiter were great but they forgot to put a candle in our dessert to celebrate my grandmothers 80th birthday. That was upsetting. Otherwise a great spot.
Always perfect and still has calves’ liver! Go to place when we are in town.
Really great local place downtown. The restaurant is bigger than you think it is. Service was great and the ambience was even better. The food was good - both my wife and I had pasta dishes for our entrees. They were both above average. The sauces had a great brightness of tomatoes. Just a little more pricey than it should be, but I would go back just for the ambiance and service
Meeting. The parents
Service was exceptional. Had special requests, and the staff was great. Have gone there often, and will continue to go back.
Very authentic Italian restaurant! The specials were prefect and the Pinot was just the right touch . Went at 9pm after walking around the area ! Also love the tables close together; we enjoy couples on both side of us . Chatted just long enough to find out what each was doing for he holidays ! Thanks for a wonderful memory we want forget!!
The Best! Dominico is a gem
The food was off the charts great!! The service was good and we were not rushed.
The food was outstanding and it was totally relaxed and charming ambience.
Delicious food and superb service. An oldie but goodie restaurant.
Food was quite good on this visit. The special fave bean salad was very tasty, as was the pasta special with shrimp, sun dried tomatoes, zucchini, and linguine, and the salmon with mustard sauce. The pace of service is brisk, which is a bit of a negative. We were seated at 7:30 pm, had a drink, and were finished our salad and well onto our entree by 8:10pm! Also, it was somewhat confusing re which of several waiters who tended to us from time to time during the meal was in fact responsible for our table. While we enjoy this neighborhood restaurant, we would frequent it more often if it did not have these flaws.
Il Cantinori is very popular, but to this diner, the food is at best good, not exceptional, while prices and ambience lead you to expect a superior experience, which Il Cantinori doesn't provide.
The restaurant was beautiful. Loved the bread, olive oil, and red sauce served upon arrival. Smooth bottle of their house wine was perfect....such a cold day, pinot noir was a great choice. Happy that there were a couple of appealing specials, two of which we ordered and they were fabulous. Only downside was our server. He was dour, almost unfriendly. Made no conversation at all. I asked what the meaning of the restaurant's name was and he was almost bothered by my inquiry. He answered me in a very clipped way, "Nothing. Nothing. It's like part of the word cantina." Well excuse me. The maitre d' was kind enough to write out directions for us to the Public Theatre where our play was...very much appreciated.
Visiting from Los Angeles
really impressed our guests from the South
service was outstanding
food was terrific
Great restaurant experience
This is a great restaurant. I wish it were less expensive, but it's still worth the money.
Wonderful food and service. Rustic but elegant decor. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Wonderful service and delicious food. Looking forward to dining there again.
The service and atmosphere are fantastic!
Best italian food in NYC!
This is a vibrant mainly Roman restaurant on a quiet street in the West Village, however, nothing is quiet in the restaurant. Voices are load and it is not an easy place to carry on a conversation. The menu has some southern Italian dishes such as veal parmigiana. Other dishes are without sauces like chicken Milanese. There were no standouts here, except for the pasta dishes. The homemade pappardelle were fantastic.
We were very disappointed with the food - the rigatoni, ravioli and risotto were bland.
Pricey and Poor Early Evening Experience. The food is quite good but we found the staff inattentive and somewhat dismissive. In a virtually empty restaurant, the maitre D' couldn't be found, turned up and rushed us to a table next to the only other table occupied right at the back. My request to relocate us toward some quiet space was ignored. The waiter seemed preoccupied but did recommend a very good wine.
This is just the best restaurant, and it isn’t just because the food is fantastic. The attitude of the owner and staff, from host to busboy is so customer friendly! Nothing reasonable is EVER a problem! Just by far the best
Just a Classic. Came in for late lunch and were treated like regulars. Parpadelle was amazing as was the wine list and Iniera salad....have it with the grilled calamari
Loved celebrating our anniversary at Il Cantinori!
Service is exceptional and food is delicious!
Delicious meal! Not a long wait for the food. Reservation was waiting for us.
Nice ambience. Average food. Very expensive. Good service.
Service was fantastic.
Food was incredible.
Hope the make this our birthday tradition spot. Will be back, 110% !
Love this place. Has always been one of my favorites. High ceilings, low noise level, fresh flowers, great for dinners with friends, or a date, or special occasion. Service is always a delight. Owner is super lovely. Neighborhood gem that's super popular with those in "the know," but never have a problem getting in and getting a table, which is great.
the food is excellent!!! Best pasta! great service and you can have a conversation!. i can't wait to go back!
