This is the greatest place! Any day any occasion whatever
the reason ...always good, always consistent wait staff,
The food is amazing even after all the years I have been
going there! And Frank, the manager, he’s a big part of it!
He’s the best, always accommodating , always cool,
funny, personable what else can I say. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!
Can’t wait to go back!! Service, food, wine, atmosphere all terrific!
The food was delicious. However, despite the great reviews regarding the service, our waiter was awful. He wasn’t kind, he made us feel rushed, & he just seemed bothered overall. Even my grandmother made a comment about the man’s cold demeanor. While the food was absolutely fantastic, the waiter just tainted our entire experience. I would go back - I’d just request to be seated elsewhere.
Neighborhood staple food is good service was most attentive cost is on the high side.
Favorite restaurant in NYC!
The ambiance, food and service made us feel like we were invited to a friend's home for a wonderful lunch.
Each and every time the entire experience has been enjoyable. But most important is the quality of the food ... always on point.
Wonderful food and service. Lovely atmosphere.
Inattentive waitstaff. Food was decent. Forgot one of our appetizers and didn’t give us part of our dessert.
worst service ever -- waiter MIA -- pasta served without cheese-- charged for an expensive coffee that never arrived. TERRIBLE. this place used to be a gem. what happened??
Always a great venue for bringing clients, friends, wives, and family. Food and service un matched
Restaurant Week Lunch on a Monday. Ordered the Salmon. When delivered to the table; there was a terrible fishy smell like scallops. Very disconcerting! Server said fresh fish was delivered that morning???
Very disappointed as this is my favorite restaurant in NYC. Flew in from SC to participate in Restaurant Week. Obviously, not a stellar experience!!
My friends and I went there for restaurant week. The service was amazing. The food came quickly and every thing tasted delicious. I had the rigatoni with crumbled sausage and shave Parmesan. I highly recommend this place.
I haven’t been to Il Cantinori in several years although it has always been among my favorite restaurant in NY. We had the loveliest dinner, the food is still superb, the service gracious and attentive without being overbearing and we had a fantastic table. I’ll be back often this year. It was one of the nicest evenings I have had at a restaurant, and my guest was delighted.
I told them I am allergic to tree nuts, pine nuts and any nuts (they did not ask if I had any, I had to tell them!) and they brought cake with some kind of nuts without telling they contain nuts. I had very small bite and realized it had nuts in the cake. I called the server and asked him and he said “oh yes that one has nuts, did you eat them?”. I am not sure what kind of restaurant is this.... they did not apologize, did not refill my water, and fully charged the meal without anything. I was not feeling well so did not had any energy to argue with them that night. But I will not dine here again.
Lovely ambiance, great wait staff, food is very good. They were very nice even though we were there for Restaurant Week, which was a great deal. I willgo back again even when not Restaurant Week.
My party of four had a wonderful dinner. I had not been back in 18years. So Beautiful with all the fresh flowers. Nick was so accommodating when one friend was running late & Fabrizio our waiter could not of been kinder. I’m looking forward to returning very soon
We ordered from the restaurant week menu. The food with mediocre. Nothing like the food I’ve had at I Cantinori
What used to be a great restaurant with great food and service is now an extremely over crowded and noisey Restaurant with the smallest possible portions. On top of that, the service is more attentive at McDonald’s. What used to be a fav restaurant of mine, is now a failing restaurant resting on its laurels. Totally avoid this restaurant on the weekends!!
It was lovely. The food was simple very tasty and simple. The service was wonderful and we loved it.
Lovely good vibe crowd and food. Tired of new hipster places
Always reliable on all counts - food, service, ambiance. One of my favorite spots.
About my 10th vist. Always top notch everything...from food...to service...to atmosphere!
Excellent on all counts. Very attentive service, great food.
I come to Il Cantinori every time I visit NYC, usually every January. I usually have several meals there before I leave. it's one of the finest Italian venues I've ever tasted. You always remember me and that makes me feel special...although, I am not that special. Thank you for the multiple meals I've had with you. I'll be back again in january...maybe before.
Heard great things about this place. Paid $28 for a plate of mushy pasta. Rip-off.
The dinner was fine, but it was disappointing that the reservationist did not pass along to our server that we would like birthday candles with dessert. Three of us have January birthdays which we were at the restaurant to celebrate.
This venerable Italian restaurant close by NYU is inspired. Both front and back rooms (separated by a bar) are comfortable and allow for conversation at normal levels. The service is first rate, attentive, friendly and professional. The food is classically Italian with excellent tomato sauces, fab pasta, meat and fish entrees. This night, we began with a hen of the woods appetizer which was perfectly prepared with mushrooms over beautifully dressed greens. This was followed by Osso Buco and Lamb Chops. My only reservation was that the chops were meant to be med rare but were actually medium to well done. Tasty none the less but.... This is a beautiful restaurant and well deserving of its longevity. It remains a place to return often.
With the big sprays of flowers, romantic lighting, and spacious seating, Il Cantinori has that special x-factor that makes it destination dining. That and the impeccable service (and good wines) override the sometimes meh food coming from the kitchen.
This lively Italian restaurant still packs in crowds of Village faithfuls and NYU professors. Great experience but don't expect to walk away without dropping a chunk of change!
