This venerable Italian restaurant close by NYU is inspired. Both front and back rooms (separated by a bar) are comfortable and allow for conversation at normal levels. The service is first rate, attentive, friendly and professional. The food is classically Italian with excellent tomato sauces, fab pasta, meat and fish entrees. This night, we began with a hen of the woods appetizer which was perfectly prepared with mushrooms over beautifully dressed greens. This was followed by Osso Buco and Lamb Chops. My only reservation was that the chops were meant to be med rare but were actually medium to well done. Tasty none the less but.... This is a beautiful restaurant and well deserving of its longevity. It remains a place to return often.
This lively Italian restaurant still packs in crowds of Village faithfuls and NYU professors. Great experience but don't expect to walk away without dropping a chunk of change!
Relaxed ,but lively, with great food, great staff, and an easy place to enjoy all of the above.
Very rushed. When you’re spending that kind of money you don’t want to be rushed.
Went to celebrate my sons 48th birthday. It was warm , intimate, delicious , and cozy. Loved it!
All of above apply
Had a great time very festive for holiday and the staff
Can’t be beat! Someone even picked up our check
Will return soon after new year
Il Cantinori is a neighborhood staple that I always love. The atmosphere is lively, the staff is always cheerful and accommodating, and it's especially festive during the holidays. The food never disappoints. The pappardelle is a crowd pleaser. I had the branzino and it was delicious. Save room for dessert. They are a treat!
Always a favorite in my book! Amazing food and the espresso martini's are worth writing home about. Everyone I invite always has a great time too. It's a special place where the waiters know you and always welcome you back with a smile and extraordinary food!
The food is ok. The service is poor. There are servers, but not attentional.
Holiday meal with very dear friend. Great table started off with martinis. Totally not rushed. We ordered a combo plate of 3 pastas. I had the truffled scaloppine and my friend had the salmon. Food was excellent. The pasta was off the charts especially the papardelle. The veal was very tender and the salmon cooked to perfection. The dessert selection was great so we tried a hazelnut gelato & biscotti that was delicious and washed it down with some double espressos and a plate of cookies. Great place for a holiday meal!
