Food was delicious, Service was very good. We had the best time. Thank you!
incredible dining experience... decor, ambiance, martinis, food, wine, service, all top notch.. our waiter Aldo was outstanding
Great food and ambiance
Wonderful food and willingness to make our meal perfect and custom to our taste!
Unfortunately, the experience dining there this time was less than acceptable. Not only did I think the food was sub par the service was truly awful and I was embarrassed to have suggested to my friend we go there for dinner. Our waiter even left his shift half way through our meal and we had no service until we asked for a new waiter.
It’s always my favorite spot when friends are in town
Wish they had a sommelier. Had trouble ordering a wine we like but overall, the food was great.
This is our favorite restaurant for all family gatherings, dinner with friends or just the two of us. It’s just like home but better.
Everything was perfect. Dino was the best.
Pricey but well worth it. Exquisitely prepared cuisine, attentive service in a lovely setting. Superb for special occasions.
Great food, great ambiance, wonderful service!!
Love this place! Super delicious neighborhood restaurant
Food was fine, not amazing. Fish entree with sauteed spinach and green beans was no better than what I make during the week for my family, but the house made pasta was delicious. Bar tender has NO IDEA how to make drinks. We sent 4 back before we decided to just go with wine. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this place.
Excellent waiter and timing of food service. Interesting variety of specials and menu fare. Oh, and the food was authentic and delicious!
ALWAYS a reliable, comfortable, professional and delicious dining choice.
Good place but VERY overpriced
We make a habit of eating here on nearly every trip to NYC. The food is consistently well prepared and delicious. The wine and cocktail selection is superior. We typically ask to be served by Joseph who is a professional, knowledgeable waitperson with a very pleasant demeanor. We will be back on our next trip
Having been to Il Cantinori many times when I still lived in NJ, it was an absolute pleasure to return. Delicious drinks and the best food! Victor is an amazing waiter!
Our group of seven, gathered for a 75th birthday party, were shown to a festive round table amidst beautiful floral arrangements. The amuse bouche of essentially chunky tomato sauce was a welcome bonus. The frito misto was light and crunchy, and the zucchini shavings salad was delicious. Things went downhill from there. My branzino was mushy and cold. The risotto was nothing more than boiled rice with vegetables — nothing like the creamy delicious dish it should have been. And our waiter was not as attentive as he should have been. We only could report our unhappiness with the two dishes at the end of the meal. He comped us one dessert to accommodate for the poor entrees. The complimentary dessert for the birthday girl was a nice touch but no petit fours for our table, while it seemed others had them. Overall, not the special evening we had hoped for.
Great place for an elegant lunch either for business or pleasure. The food is authentically Italian and uses excellent ingredients. The service is professional and efficient but the cost is rather exorbitant even in the context of the rather expensive NYC restaurant scene.
I made reservations for a date with my boyfriend. And we were both pleased! He ordered the calamari as appetizer and it was barely fried which gave us more of a taste. I had the perfectly grilled salmon. He had chicken francese and quite enjoyed it! Their table bread is baked to a balanced crisp and they served their house tomato sauce, which was enjoyable even without the bread! I had the crème brûlée for dessert and the custard to sugar layer ratio was just right! He had the tiramisu and as a coffee and even bigger chocolate enthusiast, I found the balance to be quite rich. Also, one of the servers might have the best soprano voices I’ve ever heard live! The “happy birthday” song was a very nice touch to our experience 😄
Always amazing!! One of my favorite spots in nyc!!
One of my all time favorites. Brought back great memories.
The food was good, specifically the pasta dishes and veal, but the service was lacking.
We were a bit put off by the lack of drinks menu - since it’s a full bar it was surprising that they didn’t have one nor could the waiter give us any pricing information. We had to request the wine menu twice an the waiter was clearly irritated that we weren’t ordering cocktails.
When the waiter reviewed the specials no pricing was provided which was also a bit odd - quite frankly if I’m ordering a special I’d like to know if it’s going to run $40 or $80 before I get the bill.
Once we ordered our food it was the last time we saw our waiter. Different staff brought our our entrees, refilled our water, and asked how things were. We had to ask another waiter to find ours in order to get our check.
Overall, the service dimmed the whole experience but the good was good.
It's a beautiful restaurant with wonderful food and service. Perfect for a special occasion.
Very pleasant dining on the veranda. The food was unexceptional, incommensurate with the price. VERY attentive and friendly waitstaff.
We had to wait forever for our food over 1 hr 20 mins from the time we ordered. Tables all around us all received their food much faster. Tables were to close together felt like we were having dinner with strangers. We ordered from the daily specials and didn’t care for either of our choices. Food and drinks were way over priced. Server was it very attentive and never apologize for the delay. Took him an 20 minutes just to bring us menus.
We consider il Cantinori our favorite go-to restaurant whether it’s a special occasion or just a weekday meal because we didn’t feel like cooking
All three of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals and wine. Our waiter was very attentive and full of personality. One of the other waiters had an outstanding singing voice! The restaurant offered a surprising amount of space for Manhattan and was not very loud at all. We loved this restaurant. The only downside is that it's quite pricey, so more for a special occasion than a regular haunt.
Took my grandchildren. One a freshman aT NYU from London.
Wanted him to see where his mothers 21st bday party was.
It is was a very expensive dinner
Always excellent! Whenever I’m in the city I eat here. The service people are fabulous. Food is always fresh and great. Highly recommend!
Had a fabulous Branzino and s great chopped salad with white beans. The restaurant prepared a veal chop to my husband s specifications and it was excellent. Will definitely return
Food and atmosphere was awesome. However, extremely overpriced. We ordered Gnocchi in a 4 cheese source and it was a good portion. However, $34 for a pasta dish with no meat or fish is unreasonable.
The wait staff was fantastic as well as the food: Spinach Dumplings were delightfully fluffy & light as was the Pappardelle all’s Buttera (a must order).
Wonderful, as always.
The food and service were excellent!
This was the latest of many visits to il cantinori over the course of years. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly in a table of our choice. Service was friendly but efficient. We were served a delicious and generous amuse bouche of tomato puree and whole grained bread. We found an excellent and fairly priced Barbaresco that went nicely with an early evening summer meal. For starters we tried a beet salad special (good) and grilled calamari (very good), followed by entrees of linguini with clams and artichoke (excellent) and the veal chop (terrific). At $155/pp including drinks, tax and tip, Il Cantinori is no bargain but for the quality of food, service and atmosphere we will return.
