Always a wonderful meal with pleasant service. Charming interior.
Excellence all around. Consistently great food. Wonderful friendly sophisticated service. We always have a great time
Not as amazing as I had heard. The server messed up our order and did not really care. The pasta was not very amazing-really not worth the money.
We had a wonderful birthday dinner. The special pasta with lobster was outstanding.
Wonderful service and ambiance!
There is a reason why Il Cantinori has such a loyal following and deservedly fine reputation. It was in evidence in my recent dinner there. Attentive service, great food and a wonderful room (we were in the back) make every dinner I have had there a special occasion.
Mixed feelings. Lovely atmosphere. Bread was cold, but the plate of crushed tomatoes with seasoning it was accompanied with was good. The squid ink pasta with clams was fine but not standout. I asked for a drink menu but was informed they don’t have one, despite there being a full bar. I wasn’t offered a wine menu. The dessert was disappointing: profiteroles with ice cream sandwiched between them, and smothered in chocolate sauce (basically a Hershey’s syrup). Overall vibe: dated, which the demographics of the place reinforced (i.e. old people).
Always a great experience. Love Fabrizio, the waiter. He recommended a great bottle of wine for us. Everything was delicious, as always. A bit pricey for pasta. But, I guess that’s New York.
Great service. Terrific food and quiet enough to talk as we were 5 at a round table, even with a full house.
Always one of my favorites. Wonderful food and lovely service. Still one of NY’s greatest.
Very pleasant and friendly wait staff.
Our table was ready when we arrived for our reservation. Service was outstanding, especially our waiter Frankie. He was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their meals!
While service was fabulous I was disappointed in the quality of the food I remembered it as much better
Really disappointing. Badly prepared and overpriced food, but at least the menu is very limited!
Staff was awesome and cool restaurant. Some dishes were excellent and some were okay. Trying to make gnocchi from whole wheat flour isn’t fantastic.
Lovely warm room
I'm always delighted when i visit Il Cantinori. The food is always first class and I inevitably have whatever special is on the menu. The service level is exceptional - I endeavour to have as many business dinners there as I can based on the quality of the whole experience. They treat me so well!
Clearly the best Tuscan food and the most sophisticated atmosphere in New York.
First night in NYC- fantastic way to start! Everything was great!
LOVED IT! Perfect for a birthday. I went here with my boyfriend for his and they went above and beyond.
One of the best restaurant experiences we recently had. We sat in the back room. The front room was noisy and crowded.
Il Cantinori is a beautiful restaurant. It's so calming an atmosphere, and the food is spectacular. It's great to go to a restaurant that maintains its standards year after year. I just love it.
The food and service was excellent. When ordering wine we neglected to ask the price. Big mistake.
The wine was $19. a glass - so much more than anywhere else. We did not order a fancy wine. I believe we should have been advised of the price.
The unique and abundant floral arrangements made for an eccentric ambiance I’ve yet to experience elsewhere. Everyone was so friendly and left me feeling like I’ve made lifelong friendships. The food I knew would be amazing, but it was the service that urged me to recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the City.
Birthday dinner for 2 husbands. The restaurant was prepared. Lovely tasty always. Great service.
A truly lovely restaurant, great food and a nice quiet ambiance. Highly recommended!
Always a favorite -- for years. Bring money, this kind of quality is pricey. Staff and maitre-d excellent.
We had a great dinner here last March during the blizzard on my birthday. My husband had wanted to try this restaurant since it first opened decades ago. We thought we would come back for lunch during restaurant week. Once you add drinks and coffee our meal came out to $70/person including tip. Honestly I was unimpressed with the food and service. Veal was tough; not tender. Green beans over cooked. Ribollita was not a soup but over cooked vegetables. Bread however was good. Gelato also was good. For the price I would not come back as the service/food quality was uneven at best.
It was just perfect
Excellent service contributed to a fine dining experience here. Very peaceful remove from the bustling streets of the Village.
The ambient at Il Cantinori would have been much better, if they didn't squeeze in so many tables in it. We had to maneuver our way carefully among the sea of tables to ours when we arrived for our 12:30 seating. Other than that, our overall experience was delightful, especially the service from our servers. I'd definitely return in the future.
Il Cantinori is our favorite restaurant in New York!
They do everything right...
Always absolutely wonderful......the food, the wine, and the service! Beautiful restaurant too.....it feels like we're back in Italy.
Service to table of 10 second to none. Food same. Makes you feel at home. Perfection
Delightful meal. Great service. Will go back again soon.
Although I was put off by ravioli at $36, I was appalled that a cosmopolitan was $21. The place is pretty and the food is good but the prices amount to highway robbery. I go out to dinner almost every night and I had never seen, let alone paid $21 for a single drink.
I had eaten here many times while working. Now retired and moved away but back in the city with my wife. I had many great meals here. Made reservations on open table, when we arrive the restaurant wasn’t full and we were ushered to a not so great table in the back.
Our waiter Aldo was terrific and made our night. The food was very good and his service amazing. We had great conversation with Aldo, and he steered us to great food. The Branzino was very good and my wife’s chicken with lemon and Parmesan terrific. Aldo brought us a small complimentary tomato stew that was like Nona used to make. Dessert was decadent.
Thank you Aldo for making our dining experience great.
The best as always. I am never disappointed. The food, ambiance, staff are the best ever and consistant, year after year!
Food - including, believe it or not, dessert - was delicious. Not inexpensive but, considering the quality of the food and the ambiance, not totally unreasonable. Like most NYC restaurants, a bit noisy and hard to have an easy conversation.
As usual, we had a great experience.
