Wonderful service and the food was fantastic.
I had a date at il Calabrese on Friday it was an absolutely fantastic restaurant the ambiance and the food both made for a perfect environment. Will definitely be returning again.
We came for our 48th wedding anniversary and everything was fabulous. The service, food staff are terrific. We also frequent their Happy Hour. The patio is extremely inviting throughout the year. WE WILL RETURN. Thank you.
Chef, manager and servers were great!
Problems are not insurmountable. We were promised a good table, but it was one away from the door .
Drink service was slow, and the drinks were weak though we had ordered doubles. The noise was almost overwhelming. Lots of big parties ,shouting, and children crying. Maybe when they get their 2d floor reopened, the noise will be tolerable, but I would still not consider this an elegant dining experience that merits the high prices. Server was gracious, just busy.
Most of the dishes we ordered were not what was expected for an Italian restaurant
We had a great evening! We started with the crab cakes and they were delightful, served with two sauces which were both good. We had the Caesar salad for our second course, which had just right amount of dressing. Our main course, the orecchiette, was amazing. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the sausage had fabulous spices, the asparagus added a wonderful texture, and the sauce was present and not overbearing. PERFECT! The chef was a gracious host (from Vicenza) and he personally presented our meal. Such a wonderful night all around, looking forward to our next visit!
We always enjoy coming to Calabrese for special occasions it is a luxurious treat to feast and dine Italian cuisine. We really enjoy the antelope carpaccio and the mozzarella trio it is our family favorite. This time around I ordered the Bistecca for my main it was cooked properly however the Demi glaze was lacking please chef more Demi glaze it is delicious! Look forward to treating ourselves again soon!
I would recommend the food, but it was very noisy and our server was not attentive.
The restaurant was under construction and the furniture needed to be replaced. Food was amazing!!!
Had a great lunch; warm, friendly staff; very attentive; chefs literally brought out both dishes; sincere and grateful team; authentic; highly recommend.
The food was outstanding. We had mussels as a shared appetizer and Osso Bucco and Branzino as entrees.
If I were to improve our experience I would:
1. Football was on all 4 TV's around the bar. I do not enjoy watching sports. And if you have the sound off on the TV's, at least have CC on so it makes sense.
2. This is an Italian restaurant. The music was totally off...it was pop music. This definitely needs to be changed out to compliment the dining experience.
3. It would have been nice to know (on the website) that parts of the restaurant were under construction.
We introduced 2 couples, both dear friends, on Tuesday night to celebrate one couples anniversary. The menu was initially intimidating to them but our waiter put everyone at ease.
Once the food started coming they were believers! Everything was excellent. We swapped tastes all around the table and everything was superb! We’re planning a return visit!
Everything about this evening was stellar. The reception was warm and inviting, the staff and servers were so kind and appeared genuinely happy, and the food....the food was insanely delicious. You can actually taste the freshness of everything. Wonder and memorable experience.
Service was excellent, our server was friendly and offered great suggestions
My husband had the beef braised short rib and is was delicious, would love to see this added to regular menu
Bread pudding dessert was delicious too
We will be back
We were celebrating a birthday and the staff went out of their way to make us feel special, complimentary champagne, a card on the table signed by the staff, complimentary dessert, the manager greeting us. Always a lovely place to dine, for a special occasion or happy hour, or lazy weekend lunch or dinner!
Mario, the manager, make sure everything is great! Luigi, our server, did a wonderful job and helped select a beautiful bottle of wine!
Had folded pasta with salmon and lemon butter sauce. Delicious. Wife had lasagna and found it very much to her liking. I am excited for the next time I have cause to return.
My new favorite place !
Great food, beautiful ambiance and fantastic staff
I really like il Calabrese. Glad they are fixing the lobby walls as the rest of place is pristine. Everyone liked their food. Great service overall. Liked Open Table process. A few suggestions: 1) when calling to confirm a reservation the day before, the hostess should first introduce herself, not start by asking "Is this Joe Smith?" - it's not polite and felt like a telemarketer and I almost hung up. 2) when the waiter comes to the table and we are in the middle of a conversation, they should NEVER interrupt the conversation but stand by and wait to be acknowledged. Their time is not more important than the client. 3) the silly process of asking if we liked our food twice or three times is overkill - ask once and stop begging for compliments, 4) the restaurant is really loud when it fills up. Not sure if some softer wall coverings are possible to absorb the sound. One of my favorite places - classy, good food, fair prices, just work on the little things above and the noise.
We went for dinner during restaurant week. Such a wonderful dining experience. The house made pasta was delicious. They also have a patio and are adding a second level. Well behaved dogs are welcome on their patio. Love this place!!
The manager and our waitress was fantastic too!
Il Calabrese was perfect for my daughter’s dance squad dinner. The were in a private room so they could talk, giggle and have fun. The service and food were great! So thankful they were able to schedule our last minute reservation after Brio called and cancelled with only 2 hours notice.
Great food and service. First time and will be coming back.
We went for restaurant week. There were a lot of options for a restaurant week menu, which was nice. I got the barrata starer. The portion was large, but I was hoping for more sweetness with the figs, maybe some added honey or something. The chicken scallopini entree was just OK. The best part of the meal was the dessert. The donuts with nutella were delicious.
We enjoyed restaurant week menu. Great value for the quantity and quality of food provided. I had the buratta and prosciutto as appetizer and the braised short ribs (very tender) and dessert were tiny doughnuts with whip cream. Would like to come back and try their pasta!
One of our favorites
Exceptional quality of food...Chef came out and checked on us several times! Very impressive!
Great food, staff and Restaurant Week menu! il Calabrese is one of my favorites for Restaurant Week! I wish I lived closer so I could enjoy it more!
Nice date spot! Came for restaurant week! Menu selection was excellent!
We ate here for restaurant week and the set menu was more than sufficient for one person. Food was excellent and service was great and quick!
We don’t eat here very often but I would definitely recommend this place.
Excellent food. Unusual wine list. Great Service. The noise was not too loud even when the restaurant was full. Will definitely go back.
Our party of 5 were treated like royalty at this very fine, locally owned Italian restaurant in Southlake, Texas. The wine selection was broad with some great selections by the glass. I had the Pasta with Asparagus and Sun Dried Tomatoes. It was fabulous! The others were equally satisfied. The service was par excellence and the ambiance was terrific. We look forward to our next visit.
Excellent food as always; undergoing renovation but will be even better when completed
Superb evening at il Cabarese with the family. Waiter was just outstanding - one of the best I have ever had. Everybody loved their meal and my Margherita Pizza was also the best I ever had. Perfect evening.
Been here many times. Came for a business lunch- as I normally do. This has the appearance of an upscale restaurant. But it does nothing to enforce a dress code. Today there were diners with skull caps, shorts, t-shirts and tennis shoes. Completely out of place except for a Taco Bell or McDonalds. Our salads had been pre-prepared so we’re not fresh. One bright spot was my gnocchi.
If you want the best Italian food in the entire DFW Metroplex go to il Calabrese. It is absolutely the best.
The lasagna is excellent, and enjoyed the seared yellow fin tuna steaks over greens. Also, they make the best Old Fashion bourbon cocktail. This is one of our favorite restaurant in Southlake.
They have gluten free menu and accommodate requests for changes or substitutes
Always excellent food and service. Great ambiance and always fantastic mixologists at the bar.
